Note : This is my first review so please give good criticism! If you enjoy this review contact me with a game and I will make a review of it as soon as possible!

Contrary to public belief, it wasn't the first FPS game, though everyone has to admit that it was very innovative at the time.
It's the God-father of FPS shooters, and a good one too.  Without this, fps games would have not been here until sooner. It is similar to Wolfenstein, but they co-exist rather than copy from each other. Doom was in my opinion one of the best First Person Shooter games ever, and one of the best Super Nintendo games. Let's start this review!

Overall It is a great game, and it is fun to play. There were many bad Super Nintendo games, especially ones that experimented with perspective ideas, and it was awesome! I advise this to anyone that likes 16 bit FPS, or just FPS in general! This game is what people think of when they think First Person Shooter, well aside of Call of Duty, but this is a retro review. I might review COD in about 20 years, when it's retro. This game is a lot more deep and puzzling than most modern shooters, I would choose it over most of them.

As far as the graphics go, it was very good at the time, any 3-D FPS perspective was hard to manage, but doom does that and more.
The enemies have pretty good animations, now it seems primitive, but this fairly older. Explosions were detailed, as far as the explosive canister breaking down before finally giving in and exploding, which did look cool. Gunfire has a more macho touch of muzzle flash that makes Doom-guy look awesome, you may not notice it, but it is a nice touch. It was a little better than Wolfenstein, even though it came out after Wolfenstein it looks pretty good. Overall the graphics were not bad in any way I can think of.

When it comes to sound, the Super Nintendo version of this game had pretty, good music. It was a lot better than the Atari Jaguar, and this one is probably my favorite version of all of the systems. The Gunfire has nice sounds, and I think that the music/sounds coupled with the 16 bit capabilities made it great! It isn't perfect though, after a while of playing, the sound of the demons does tend to get annoying though, but overall the sound is great!

This game is quite addicting, but there is a few flaws. If you are demon hunting, it can make you want to play it for hours and hours. The motivation to win is very thick in this game, I can hardly stop myself. If you are stuck on a door or puzzle, you will most likely want to solve it. Puzzle solving is a natural instinct, and games use it to their advantage. There are multiple levels to choose from, so that can really keep you occupied. Now onto the flaws, if you spend too much time trying to solve something, you have a good chance of getting bored while doing it. Plus, if you are new and you keep dying, that won't leave a good first impression, and might affect just how much you like this game. A tip to remember is it takes time to figure it out, other wise it would be too simple. Take modern games for example, the goal is shoot and win. But in the original fps games like this, you have to actually solve it, and this makes it way more fun to kill time playing this game.

Note : I don't think this can spoil it, because the story is obvious, and I am avoiding anything that makes the plot different.

The goal of the game is to kill the enemy demons, in fact you really, really want to kill them. You are like Rambo or The Terminator, your goal is to take out as many as you can, then off the boss/villain. This is a traditional story, but I am not going to go into detail about plot twists or things like that, to try not to ruin it for new players. As for those who have beat it, I don't think you need to hear the story from me. Now onto the Depth.

The depth is good and fun, it isn't a shallow 10 minutes of demon slaughter, but more of a mission that requires effort, such as Castlevania or other famous classics. The game retained the ability to have bad guy killing, and a good challenge. Something that other games ditched far before then. It also gives you a variety of enemies and weapons, something common nowadays, but it's still good that it wasn't just gun and fist. The enemies were good and creative, which is a lot more than other games could claim to have. This game also is very clever. It doesn't rely on a room with a few waves of the enemies then continuing forward. It isn't just a slash-n-move game, but it isn't boring either.

Finally, the difficulty. It has armor and health pickups, of different values and strengths, but it isn't overpowered or just easy. It isn't hard but sometimes the difficulty is too much to handle. It isn't for people who want an easy win, but it isn't impossible either. Another good thing is it has various difficulties with clever names. No hard, easy, and medium. It still has good names though.

This concludes my review, it is a awesome game, bye!

For your first review, this is really good. You added plenty of detail and you did well explaining why you feel the way you do about the game. If there was one thing I'd suggest, it's that you should probably put the overall score paragraph at the end of your review instead of the beginning. Other than that, you did a great job.

This is pretty decent for a first review! Better than mine anyway.

You gave it a lot of detail, it's well-structured and you even give some comparisons with similar games/the game on different consoles. Can't wait for your next review!
