Those of you familiar with Fantasy Drafts (Baseball, Football, etc.) know the pressure of having the first overall pick.

What if out of 8 people, you had first choice of any weapon, armor, accessory, item, spell... What would you choose? I guess the only guideline I can think of would be that whatever is selected should appear in multiple games. If not, Adamant Armor might be the clear-cut victor.

Would you go offense? Maybe a little Masamune action?
Or are you a defense guy? Is a Protect Ring or Aegis Shield worth the 1st Pick?

Personally I would choose the Ribbon accessory. It seems to always be a major focus of mine to eliminate status problems in RPG's. I would feel great knowing my guy could never be confused, petrified, zombied, etc.

I would definitely go for a ribbon too. Too often are we bothered with status change by bosses and there's nothing we can do about it - Esuna can come pretty late and money is scarce at the start of a game.

Either a ribbon, because common sense... or if that actually wasn't available, I guess my second pick would be the Judgement Staff. It's high level, boosts magic power, and depending on the game, can cast Flare, a chance of Stop, or Dispel when you use it as a melee weapon. And seriously, there is nothing bad about beating enemies over the head with this thing. Have you ever LOOKED at it? It's a murder weapon if I ever saw one, whether used as a physical thing or as a channeling weapon.

And anything that can cast Flare without sucking my mana dry is a must-have in my book. OP spell is OP. Stop and Dispel are pretty dang useful, too, and could make me a pretty valuable party member. As a mage, you want to be valuable, so the rest of the party will protect you when you are super-squishy. Not so much an issue when you get on up there in levels, but DEFINITELY at first. Been there.

Yunimori : Hmm... be careful with that. Flare can usually be reflected so it could be fatal. Plus, dispel usually has a low chance of success in the late game.

If you're to be a mage, why not choose something that boosts your character like the Sage Staff or Yuna's ultimate weapon?

If I did get a ribbon with the first pick in the 1st round... I would hope to get 4xCut in the late 2nd round. (SShot, Offering, 4xCut, etc)

That would hopefully make up for the fact that I wouldn't be getting my Weapon until round 3. Maybe something like Defender...

I'm thinking my first magic attack would have to be a summon, that way reflect would be nullified. Reflect can be deadly as Janus states....

Dragoon26 : Offering would be the better choice, especially if you can have a weapon in both hands. SShot, if my memory serves me well, decreases the strength of your attack each time.

My choice would definitely be a ribbon because with that equipped, you're immune to status problems, which makes battling much easier since you don't need to worry about being confused or petrified.
