I wanted to save this review for the final 10 reviews, but I'm feeling risky, I'm going to review Ocarina. Let's get right to it. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA OCARINA OF TIME The game is a masterpiece, and that isn't even nostalgia blinded. That being said, I had to break a fair wall of nostalgia to produce a fair review, and if for any reason you happen to be offended, I give you my utmost apologies. Without further ado, I'm going to start with the Difficulty. Difficulty [ 4 / 10 ] I never truly found myself challenged in this game, and near all of it was simplistic for the younger audiences, it's nearly pitiful how easy this game truly is. While some of the Biggoron's Sword sequences were kind of hard, nothing in this game is close to impossible. A few interesting things to talk about, are the Running Man, who is a man that can be challenged in a race once Link has become an adult, the race is from the Gerudo Valley to the entrance of the Kokiri Forest. For those new to the game, those areas are polar opposites in the country of Hyrule, the setting of the game. If you want a harder version, try the sequel to the game: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, which has a much better atmosphere and better character development to pair with the higher difficulty. Not much challenge to this game, so I'm going to give difficulty a 4/10. Depth [ 6 / 10 ] Depth wise, there isn't a lot of replay value to this game, and I sometimes find myself rather bored when playing the game, it doesn't have a ton of stuff to do, unlike Super Mario 64, which had a lot of missions to come back to, and discover. I must admit, there are some fun side quests to do, like the Mask Selling side quests, though there is no pay off to doing these, and they are just a pass time. Dungeons never really give you a reason to return to them either, since rupees can be found quintessentially anywhere in the world, heck, you can find them in bushes. There are a total of 5 major dungeons, in the form of Temples, being called so for the first time in the series of American translations. Depth wise, not very much was available, so I give depth a 6/10. Story [ 8 / 10 ] The story to Ocarina of Time was quite unique for it's time, and the Time Travel mechanic allowed for a lot of possibilities such as the Song of Storms paradox, and the Spirit Temple's split dungeons. Certain things you do in the past can affect things that happen in the future, but in the long run, they don't do anything really substantial, and don't affect the end result of the game in the long run, the game gives the illusion of free choice, but truly it is a very linear game, that can't be tempered with very much. However, the overarching plot is still quite incredible nevertheless, and if you are planning on giving Ocarina a whirl, definitely give this one some excitement. Story gets an 8/10 from me, since by today's standards, it is nothing special. Addictiveness [ 8 / 10 ] This game is decent in the category of addictiveness, but nothing special, it's just as addictive as any RPG from it's time, and I dislike some aspects of it, such as certain mini-games. I feel like this game is trying to be something bigger than it actually is sometimes, which takes away from the all around addictiveness of the game, but this might be a personal nitpick of mine. Besides that, some aspects of the game truly captivated me through every time I played the game, while others slowly wared off on me, and became kind of stale. This doesn't necessarily mean I'm giving it a bad score, I'm actually ranking it pretty high, I'm giving it an 8/10 in fact. Sound [ 10 / 10 ] Gotta hand it to my homeboy Koji Kondo, I have cried listening to the title theme, I have hummed so many songs composed for this game, such as the Water Temple theme, and the Sheik theme, I could go on forever about how much I LOVE this game's soundtrack, but I'd prefer if you'd check it out yourself, and see what you think, as I could never do this game's soundtrack justice, 10/10 for sure, all the way. Art, pure art. Graphics [ 3 / 10 ] Graphically, Ocarina was a tragedy, I couldn't stand how ugly certain things looked, and while I do admit, it has some redeeming factors to it, there isn't much. The graphics make the world look extremely flat, and Super Mario 64 had the opposite effect for me, personally, this game is my childhood treasure, but no-where inside me can I lie and say that I liked this game's graphics. I guess Gerudo Valley had some nice graphics, but nothing substantial. Sorry Nintendo, 3/10, you didn't hit it on that one. They definitely redeemed the graphics in the 3DS remake though. Overall [ 8.9 / 10 ] I guess this game is one of my favorites, if not my favorite, next to Megaman 2, which I may review in the future, I have a soft spot for it, and it's games of art that touch the soul, look at how beautiful some environments are, even if the graphics ruin them sometimes. I have so many fond memories of this game. Playing Jabu-Jabu's belly, having help from my Cousin with beating certain parts, like a team, until finally making it to the end. I remember being terrified of the Shadow Temple, and then finally finishing it. In the end, I adore it and I definitely think it's a legendary game, just not perfect. All in All, 8.9/10. Your review is a fine one, but your overall score seems to contradict your review: too easy, not challenging, terrible graphics... I guess you're like me and review the game in retrospect rather than when you first played it. |

Good review, just if you add a little bit more detail and opinion, it'll be very great. |
