Back in 1982, the arcade classic known as Dig Dug was released. 19 years later, a 3d remake of the game called Dig Dug Deeper was made for the PC. Unfortunately for fans of the original, this game is nowhere as good as the original. I'll now explain why I feel that way with this review.

Graphics: 5/10 Like the PC remakes of Frogger and Centipede, Dig Dug Deeper was a 3d remake of it's predecessor. Unfortunately though, Dig Dug Deeper's graphics are not much better than Frogger or Centipede for the PC, which is disappointing because Centipede was only made 3 years before Dig Dug Deeper, while Frogger was made 4 years before this game. Because of this I have to give the graphics a 5.

Sound: 3/10
Dig Dug Deeper's music is nowhere near as good as it's predecessor. Dig Dug for the arcade had catchy and very memorable music. Dig Dug Deeper however has bland and unmemorable music. While this game's music is nowhere near as bad as some of the other music I've heard in other video games, it's not very good either. It's less than mediocre and because of that I give the sound a 3.

Addictiveness: 6/10 Dig Dug Deeper's gameplay is pretty much the same as the arcade version, except the controls are somehow worse in this game. The time it take to inflate your enemies in Dig Dug Deeper is ridiculous, which gets extremely annoying. The original Dig Dug didn't have this problem because you could inflate the enemies much faster, which makes the game less frustrating. This game's still addicting, although it's nowhere near as addicting as the arcade version. Because of that, I give the addictiveness a 6.

Story: N/A Dig Dug games don't have a story so for that reason I'm leaving that category blank.

Depth: 4/10
I have several other problems with this game. One of these things is the lack of extra game modes. Frogger for the PC had multiplayer, and Centipede PC had arcade mode which was where you could play the original arcade game instead of the campaign. Unfortunately Dig Dug Deeper had no extra game modes. When I found that out I was very disappointed. Another thing is the lack of levels. There are only 6 worlds in the game, because of this the game is very short. This game has very little depth and because of that I have to give the depth a 4.

Difficulty:5/10 Dig Dug Deeper's difficulty is about the same as the original. There are some new ways to kill enemies such as exploding rocks and gas fields which can make the game easier. Other than that though, the difficulty is pretty much the same. For this reason I'm giving the difficulty a 5.

Overall Score: 5/10 Dig Dug Deeper is a disappointing remake to an arcade classic. The soundtrack is extremely bland, the graphics weren't improved as much as it should've been, the game's controls aren't very good, the game's too short, and a lack of game modes makes Dig Dug Deeper a poor remake. I'd recommend playing the arcade and nes versions much more than this game. In fact, I wouldn't recommend this game at all. This game is by no means a terrible game, I'd say it's mediocre at best. For that reason I give the overall score of Dig Dug Deeper a 5 out of 10.

Now that I've finished this review, I'm done with making reviews for 3d remakes of arcade games. Instead I'm going to start focusing on bigger and more popular games instead.
