I picked Gible as my starter, and have decided to figure out whether or not it's even possible to beat the trainer with the level 50 landorus at the start... So I began grinding my Gible.  At level 24, it started going to the evolution screen, said "Your gible is evolving!" Then a moment later everything stopped as if it were canceled, and gible was returned to me.  I thought this was just a fluke, maybe I hit a button to cancel it or something, so I leveled it up to 25 and the screen appeared again.  I raised both hands above my head as to make sure I didn't touch anything, and I wound up with the same result.  Can anyone tell me what's wrong?  I don't want to restart and train to level 25 again on level 4's and 3's...

grimcreapper: don't push the b button the pokemon will not evolved.
and just wait until your gible evolves into gabite. just don't push the b button
or else you will start to the next level again.
probably i used a mega garchomp for nowadays

That's the thing know.  I know that pressing the B button makes it stop evolving, but I didn't press any buttons at all and it still stops.  I'm not sure why... Is there maybe a restriction on evolving before battling Tornadus?

Interesting test. Well I know it isn't a common bug, gible can usually evolve. Meh, if you want to keep getting to a point where you can beat landorus you can, but don't sweat this too much.

You know that there's no winning dialogue for your rival in ORAS if she/he beats you? I didn't go out of my way to prove that... just that for some reason I could beat the champion but not a level 50 mega starter

Well I'm trying to Nuzzlock this game so if my starter faints, it's game over since I have no other pokemon at that point.  So I have to beat the level 50 Tornadus.  Unbeatable battles I consider to be a game over :p  Just curious why my Gible doesn't want to evolve...

GrimCreaperr : According to Nuzlocke rules, The Nuzlocke doesn't actually start until after you receive pokeballs. The reason that your Gible  didn't evolve is because its programmed in that if you don't have your Pokedex, your Pokémon wont be able to evolve.
