Hey all. Welcome, pull up a chair, and grab something to drink. We are here today to discuss those awesome food festivals you always see on cooking shows and news shows on television. They can range in varieties from things like BBQ to seafood and anything inbetween. I've been to quite a few different ones and they all were fun. Lots of entertainment, different foods to try, and competitions for best food, etc..

1. What I want to know is have you ever been to one or more ( which one and where is it held ) and what did you think of it and enjoy most about it ?
2. Is there any you would recommend for others to check out ? ( where & when )
3. What is the craziest one you have ever seen or heard about ?

Well I usually go to Owensboro, Ky (Because I live in Kentucky) They Hold great Food Festivals
every year, International Barbeque Festival is what it is, the car show is always my favorite.
This is the only one I go to because It's the closest

I would recommend this, it's really fun and the food is honestly the best.

The craziest thing.. umm well one contender in the bbq cook off he caught his little trailer on fire
and everyone had to leave quick in case it blew up. The same thing happened but except it was
in the car show, one of the cars overheated and blew the engine up and caught on fire. xD

(typing this with only 3 hours of sleep. i'll probably edit in the morning.. to make it sound more interesting)

Although not explicitly food festivals, the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, all host mega multicultural festivals. And with them, people of all different origins cook their local specialties. I'm salivating just thinking about it

I don't remember much of it, and I can't find any info of it anymore but I discovered one a few years back and loved it. I believe it was either on Memorial Day or the 4th of July and it was in Governors Island. Unfortunatley, I had no money at all so I could only get the free samples, but everything was awesome. There was all sorts of different kinds of food and I went to each vendor and studied all of them, that day I didnt even get time to actually explore the island because by the time I was done with the festival after many hours the last boat off the island was an hour away so I didnt have time.

In total, there was maybe a hundred different vendors and about half f them gave free samples different kinds of tea, smoothies, sodas, unique mini hot dogs, and a bunch of other stuff. I was pretty full by the end, though that could be because i sometimes would go back to the same vendor 4 or 5 times, one of which was for free giant corn on the cobs with like 5 different spices.

I would recomend that one but I literally know nothing about it.

zanderlex : I did a bit of checking myself because I remember going to one of the festivals there. At Governor's Island events include Parked ( a food truck festival ), the Vendy Awards ( which recognize outstanding local street vendors ), Pig Island ( a pork barbecue celebration ), and Oktoberfest. The one I went to was called Meatopia ( meat of all kinds ). I imagine any of those others would be fun to go to. Don't wanna steal Zander's thunder so I'll end this here. Hopefully that sparked your memory to the one you had forgot. If any of those I named sounds good then feel free to look them up.

I don't really think it was either of them for two reasons. AT first I thought it might have been Parked because it was indeed all food trucks, but the dates are way off, I did say it could have been one of two dates, but both were in the summer while it says Parked was in the fall. Also, I found this maybe 3 or 4 years ago, but I went back every year on both of those days since then and I could never find it again, it just dissapeared.
