Well, it seems that Nintendo knows very well how to make successful game franchises. We all know game franchises which are very successful and well known like Super Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend Of Zelda etc, and we all know that Nintendo created all of them. And this franchise is also one of Nintendo's masterpieces: the Metroid franchise. Metroid is therefore known that the Metroid games (especially the first ones) are combining genres like Jump 'n Run, Adventure & Shooter, so that one could consider the genre as "Shoot 'n Run" or "Jump 'n Shoot". Metroid Fusion is one of the first Metroid games, and the first Metroid game which has been released for the Gameboy Advance. I have to admit that I really have been addicted to this game when I played it for the first time, but what in particular makes this game so special?

First of all, there are the graphics. And again I can only say how great and detailed the graphics are. Although there aren't that many areas, they still manage it to make them look very unique. Also the enemies are very detailed, and of course the protagonist of the game, the bounty huntress Samus Aran, who is also able to do a lot of different moves and abilities during the game. Don't forget the artworks during the cut scenes. I will give 10 points out of 10 for the unique way of how the graphics look like.

Second, there is the sound. For a Gameboy Advance game, we have some great sounds, which really fit well, and also kind of sound realistic, giving it a lot more feel, like you can empathize with Samus during the game. The music always fits so well to each level and situation, and sometimes, the music is so catchy that you will get some ear worms, like for example some boss battle themes. So I will also give 10 points out of 10 for the sound, which gives a lot of empathizing factor.

Third, there is the addictiveness of this game. And like I said before, this game is very very very addictive. One could describe the old Metroid games as "Super Mario, just way cooler and more mature" because of the Jump 'n Run elements, high addictiveness and the way more complex structure which Mario games will never have. I also finished this game a thousand times, so well, it's very addictive, and therefore, I will give 10 points out of 10.

Fourth, there is the story of the game. The story is very exciting, and also pretty complex, which isn't often the case in older video games. The story starts with a flashback that our protagonist Samus explored a planet called SR-388 and met X-Parasites, which "injected" her. This "injection" causes for heavy damages which are getting bigger and bigger, she almost died because of it, until someone injected her cells by a Metroid, so that she recovered from the X-Parasites, so that X-Parasites can't do any damage to her anymore. This is why her suit transformed into the fusion suit. Now she has to go to a space lab called BSL and fulfill missions sent by an computer, which Samus calls it Adam. The topic of trust is pretty important in this game. I really like this complex structure, one always wants to know how it continues, so I can't resist and have to give 10 points out of 10, again.

Finally, there is the depth. Well, this game has a lot to offer, you can learn a lot of different abilities and get a lot of items (mainly if you defeat certain boss enemies), and there is also a lot to explore, but except for exploring and fighting, you can't do anything else in this game. But therefore, you can also get different endings (depending how fast you can finish the game with 100%), and you get a complex story which can make you think about certain things, so I will give 8 points out of 10 for the depth.

The game is a bit more difficult than other games, because every move has a different control, and sometimes you will get annoyed because you failed to do this one move which you want to do. But well, Metroid games are like that, you just have to practice these moves a bit, I mean, nobody's perfect, so well, um, yea. <----- Master of argumentation

The scores:
Graphics: 10/10
Sound: 10/10
Addictiveness: 10/10
Story: 10/10
Depth: 8/10
Overall: 48/50
9,6/10

So if you need an answer for the question "Why this game is so special?", then you will get this answer in a very short form right now:
This game offers you very detailed graphics and areas which you can explore, very realistic sounds and background music which makes you empathize more with it, a lot of variety, a very complex story, and a game which is just very addictive. This game is probably one of the best games for the Gameboy Advance, and I recommend everyone to play this game, you will definitely not regret it.

So thank you very much for reading my review, I hope you enjoyed reading it and hope you will also read my upcoming reviews. And if there is anything that I could do better, than please tell me, ok? Greetings from Germany,

MisakiMei

MisakiMei : This was no doubt an epic game for an epic franchise, if this was supposed to be the "end" of the story (I hope not) well, it certainly left an impression. I'm glad it was more difficult than the others, it accurately represented Samus' struggles with her more-dangerous-than-usual situation in that game.

Oh yea I have to agree, it definitely is an epic game, probably my favorite one of the first Metroid games, with Super Metroid being very close
