So, I started getting into fitness apps lately. It's really nice. I use Google Fit and My Tracks. They're really helpful. I can now stay more active. Both of these apps are free, and have no ads. They are also both Google brand apps. My Tracks can record tracks of biking, walking, or running. The app can also record airplane flight paths, or car rides! My Tracks can sync to Google Fit, a more fitness-based app. Google Fit tracks steps, activities (there is a log and you can add over 30 different activities), your weight, and heart rate! Once again, this is Google based, so you can use your Google account to sync across phones, tablets, wearables, and computers! This is a real easy way to feel more active. You not only feel physically active, but seeing your goal being reached can help you mentally! So, download the apps and feel better!

Well I've never used a fitness app. I consider myself a very active person since, up until recently, I was a swimmer of 12 years. I don't personally see the appeal of a fitness app. It might just be because I am already active, but I don't associate being active with computers/Google. I guess I could see how it would help some people if they are more visual people than listening people, but for me looking at a graph telling me I need to do x amount doesn't really help. This could just be me though because I don't find things like goals very useful either but a lot of other people do.

I've never downloaded any fitness apps because I just don't feel like I need them. Maybe if at some point in my life I become overweight (which I don't see happening) I'll think about getting one.

I downloaded one a while ago, but never used it. I decided that I didn't need the app, and that I'm too skinny to work out.

I haven't, the closest my phone has gotten to fitness was when I tried plugging it into an exercise machine.

The phone got charged. Not much else happened.

Both of those apps sound really neat. I think I'll check them out before I go for my next workout.

I did download that Google Fit app, but after a solid month of having it on my device I think I used it twice... Once to set it up as I downloaded it, another time because it told me I walked a certain number of steps. Other than that, I haven't used any fitness apps. I might redownload that Google Fit one, but that'd require an exercise plan, which (for me) consists of moving my jaw a certain number of times per day and walking to the kitchen. I mean, I'm not inactive, but that's the closest to 'exercise' I want to get. Running around for games is different, don't spoil games by telling me I'm doing something healthy.

You don't have to be someone who exercises on a regular basis to use these apps! Anyone can download these apps.

Gosh, I though the people posting here would have all kinds of great ideas.

I LOVE fitness apps and actually use quite a few. haha.  Some I admittedly use more than others, however.  I'll start with the one I use most: MapMyWalk.  This app is AMAZING!  If you turn the GPS on for your device, it will track your route and give you a map when you are done walking, jogging, biking, etc.  It will calculate your speeds, your time, and your calories burned.  While you are exercising, it will even let you know when you've reached certain goals (i.e.  "You have walked 1.0 miles in 11 minutes and 12 seconds. Your average pace is 11 minutes and 12 seconds."  That's not worded exactly the same, but that's the gist).  Also, the app monitors your height above sea level, so if you're going up hills, it tells you how many feet you've climbed.

MapMyWalk doesn't only monitor walking, running, and biking though.  It will give you stats for things like jumping jacks, weight lifting, and work on exercise machines.  If you have devices that monitor your heart rates, those stats will also be included... it's amazing!  There are versions of it like "MapMyRide" which is meant exclusively for biking, but I doubt there are many differences between the versions at all.  Plus, it's free unless you want special features.  (This app does so much more than I've explained here.)

I've also tried using Couch-to-5k.  It will give you verbal cues as well, and brings you through a 9 week program that is supposed to enable you to run a distance of 5k comfortably.  I did about two weeks, but then started simply jogging on my own.  However, I've wanted to return to it.  It gives you increasing intervals at which to jog and walk, and you can choose various trainers depending on if you want something 'fun and light' or more like a drill sergeant.

thephantombrain introduced me to "7 Minute" which I've also loved.  It guides you through 7-10 minutes of exercise ever day which are rigorous and easy to do without any tools or machines. It concentrates on using your body weight and encourages you to commence in a series of exercises with a timer to help.  For example, it might start you with 30 seconds of jumping jacks, 10 seconds to adjust for the next exercise, 30 seconds of planking, 10 more seconds to adjust, etc.  Ten minutes doesn't sound like a lot, but the rigor is great and definitely has an impact.  It will also allow you to set reminders.

Finally, I also like MyFitnessPal.  Although it keeps track of exercises, I like to use it for calorie tracking.  It has this wonderful feature where you can scan a barcode with your phone, and all that food's nutrition facts are loaded. Hit submit, and it counts your calories for you!  The site / app uses information about your body (weight, age, goals, measurements, etc) to design a plan for you to lose weight by monitoring calorie consumption. There is a lot of critical feedback for the method, but I've personally found it to be extremely effective.  It will consider your goal (to lose, gain, or maintain) and then suggest a number of calories you should eat each day to meet that goal.  If you exercise, you can record that with the app and those calories will be added to your daily 'limit'. This way, you always see a net calorie amount depending on what you've eaten and how active you've been.

Another app I've tried is S Health, which is a standard app on the Galaxy S5. However, I'm tired of typing about this now, and I'll say that it's fun as well. It gives you all kinds of little health goals, and you can choose from a list which ones you want to accomplish.  It keeps track of calories eaten and burned through walking or jogging.  MyFitnessPal is more thorough however, since it also keeps track of the nutrients you consume and gives you advise on those numbers as well.

All of these are free, and I love them!

Good luck, and if you have any questions about these apps, just let me know. I've been using them for awhile and am pretty familiar with them.

Not too much I can add here but I have used a couple of fitness apps at one time or another. So I figured I'd jump in here and let y'all know about them. i'm no longer using these apps because I have gotten out of the fitness craze I was in back in school and for a bit afterwards. Who knows maybe someone will check them out and like them enough to use them. My first fitness app I used was one called " Fitocracy " --> Free
Available on: Android, iOS, and Web
Fitocracy uses game-like stats to spur on friendly competition and increase your dedication to working out. It's a very social app for tracking your workouts, especially weight-lifting, and sharing your progress with the community. Post a status, whether it's your success story of going to the gym or the reason you skipped a workout, and you might get a flood of supportive comments within hours. Fitocracy also has plentiful resources for all kinds of fitness enthusiasts, from weightlifters to swimmers, although the how-to videos aren't ideal for beginners.
The other one was called  Zombies, Run! ---> $3.99
Available on: Android, iOS
Zombies, Run! Is an audio adventure and game rolled into a running workout. You listen to a story through your earbuds about zombies—which may be right on your tail!—and keep running to complete missions as they come up in the story. It's a little silly, but definitely engaging. This app aims to motivate you to move rather than let you spend your time wading through data about your runs. It has about 160+ missions on it and you can use your own music as well.
Well I hope y'all like these and decide to use them. Take it easy all. Pz out.

I'm not really too interested into having any kind of fitness apps, the reason why is because I won't really use any of them because I don't really go out and do any workouts because I never really have the time to do any workouts, but if I do have the time to workout, then yeah, I migh have some fitness apps. But at the mean time, I don't have any at the moment.
