Ok everyone has a favorite character and one that they hate for whatever reason. My questions will be in parts so have fun with it and let's see what pops up.
Favorites ( Hero, Villain, or both ) in :
1. Television series ? ( this can be any genre on television and it doesn't have to be just one. List as many as you like. )
2. Television cartoons ?
3. Why are they your favorite Villain or Hero ?

1. Television Series? I would have to go with the French bank robber on The Ultimate Spider Man. I can't think of his name right now.
2. The ghosts in Scooby Doo. They are always so terribly done. XD

My favorite hero from TV is probably the Vigilante from Arrow. He's basically a green Batman that puts arrows into people. Jake Peralta from Brooklyn Nine Nine is also worth mentioning. He can be very heroic at times, but he's mostly just funny to watch.

My favorite TV villain is probably going to be either the Cybermen from Doctor Who. They have the just right amount of "we're big and scary" without coming off as silly like the Daleks.

My favorite villain from a TV series has to be. . .

Dutches Satine's Sister from Star Wars the Clone Wars Death Watch organization.

The Death Watch were terrorist on the peaceful planet of Mandalore. They hated how the new Mandalorians had forgotten their ancestor's ways, and eventually they got the upper hand, but not through terrorism. By rescuing the planet from Back Sun.

As a result, Pre Vizla was made ruler of Mandalore, and people were convinced to allow Death Watch to take over.

However, the people had been fooled. Death Watch had set them all up, and the Only reason Black Sun had chosen to attack Mandalore was because Pre Vizla and Darth Maul. (Darth Maul was Black Sun's new leader) Had ordered them too.

After this happened, Darth Maul told Pre Vizla to help him begin to become a force inside of the Galaxy. Pre Vizla stated that he didn't care to take over other planets and become an empire again. (Even though the ancestors leige he had been attempting to restore were very much empire builders. An entire galactic war was named after their kind. The Mandalorian Wars).

Darth Maul challenged Pre Vizla to a duel, in which the Mandalorian lost, and Darth Maul severed his head from his body.

Dutches Satine's sister watched all this happen, and watched Darth Maul claim the Mandalorian thrown. She and others rebelled. An outsider would never rule Mandalore.

She eventually assisted Obi Won who failed to defeat his old foe and save his teenage love, Dutches Satine.

Satine's sister played a vital role in all this. And if it weren't for her, Obi won Might not gotten as far as he did. In the end, it Was Darth Sidious who defeated his old apprentice, Maul and put his brother Savage to his end.

I wonder just how much sense what I posted above made, I should look up Satine's sister's name so that I can clarify it.

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

Sword legion : I got ya' covered. "But Mandalore will survive. We always survive."―Bo-Katan Kryze
Bo-Katan Kryze was a female human Death Watch lieutenant who worked under the command of Pre Vizsla during the Clone Wars. Bo-Katan was the leader of Mandalorian group called the Nite Owls, a squad within the splinter group, Death Watch. She was known to be the sister of Duchess Satine Kryze. To quote a favorite cartoon of my youngest brother - " Now you know and knowing is half the battle. "

Now to answer my own question cuz I'm seeing some good answers and it's about time I got in here and did so.
Favorite television villain or hero. Well this might have a few in it but I am going to try to keep the list down and also put some information with the villains as well. Here goes :

1. Sylar - Heroes (Season 1)
So NBC’s Heroes probably is not the first series that comes to mind of when thinking about horrifying television shows.
At first Sylar was seen only in shadows, sporting a Prom Night-esque baseball cap to further conceal his face and make him that much scarier (not to mention hide the fact that Zachary Quinto had yet to be cast). Then, instead of only seeing the bloody aftermath of his, originally thought to be cannibalistic, decapitations, Quinto brought his gory show center stage as well as demonstrate all the typical traits of sociopaths; a traumatic childhood, fierce intelligence, and an insatiable desire to exert his power over the weak. He doesn’t  just brutally kill you alone, screaming for help in the dark, but his powers also allow him to accomplish the even more perverted, sadistic and invasive act of taking (what is essentially) their souls. Sylar is one of my favorites because the dude is just creepy and the way he handles things is like some crazy puppet master. Talk about hand in the cookie jar!!

2. Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) - Silence of the Lambs
Dr. Lecter is a brilliant forensic psychiatrist. He is also a serial killer and a cannibal, preparing the meat of his victims into tasty dishes for himself and serving them to unsuspecting guests. Although he is a killer, Lecter is still a very refined gentleman. He is meticulous in appearance, speaks very precisely, has an impeccable wit, astonishing intellect, and a gourmet palate.
Lecter is asked by Special Agent Jack Crawford to be Will Graham's informal psychiatrist, helping him navigate the increasingly disturbing cases Graham encounters and the resulting visions and nightmares he has because of them. In Will, Lecter sees something of a kindred spirit. He is fascinated and impressed with him and Will also feels a spark between them and they begin to work as a team, with Lecter doing his psychoanalyzing on the side. While legitimately captivated by Will and the cases that they work on together, Lecter has an ulterior motive. As they work with the BSU team, he gains unprecedented access to the FBI for himself and is able to tailor his killings accordingly.
Background: In addition to his private practice Lecter was also a college professor where he mentored Dr. Alana Bloom, who ultimately would introduce him to Crawford, Graham, and the world of the FBI. Who can say this dude is not one of the creepiest villains you ever saw ? Anthony Hopkins did a fantastic job playing a psychopath. Where's the Beef ???

3. Tony Soprano - The Sopranos
Anthony John Soprano, Sr., played by James Gandolfini, is a fictional character on the HBO TV series The Sopranos, created by David Chase. The show's exceedingly complex protagonist, he is the only character to appear in every episode of the show. He is the De facto Boss of the DiMeo Crime Family.
Tony has to juggle northern New Jersey's most powerful criminal organization, keeping it functioning properly and keeping dissonance to a minimum. The relationship between Tony and his uncle, Corrado John Soprano, Jr. (better known as Junior Soprano), was very close for many years, with Junior acting as a father figure for Tony following the death of Giovanni (AKA Johnny Boy) Soprano, Tony's father. However, the relationship was strained when a disgruntled Junior became more and more marginalized in the organization as the FBI's investigation into his activities increased. He had Brendan Filone killed, which infuriated Tony. Furthermore, he conspired with Tony's own mother, Livia Soprano, to have Tony killed (although the hit failed). A mob boss among mob bosses. He was exactly what you'd expect of a mob boss and extremely straight forward .. says he's gonna kill you ... then he will kill you.

Favorite cartoon villain or hero :
1. The Joker - Batman
The Joker is a supervillain and the archenemy of Batman. He was first introduced in Batman #1 (Spring 1940) and has remained consistently popular. The Joker is a master criminal with a clown-like appearance. Initially portrayed as a violent sociopath who murders people for his own amusement, the Joker later in the 1940s began to be written as a goofy trickster-thief. That characterization continued through the late-1950s and 1960s before the character became again depicted as a vicious, calculating, psychopathic killer. The Joker has been responsible for numerous tragedies in Batman's life, including the paralysis of Barbara Gordon (Batgirl/Oracle) and the murders of Jason Todd (the second Robin) and Jim Gordon's second wife Sarah Essen. I love the joker because he is just flat out nuts and unpredictable. The star of the laughing dead and everyones'  favorite clown.

2. Onslaught - X-men
When Charles Xavier telepathically rendered Magneto catatonic, he unknowingly absorbed Magneto’s dark ego. Magneto’s negative emotions merged with Xavier’s suppressed urges, forming a powerful, dormant psionic entity - the self-dubbed Onslaught. Rising anti-mutant hysteria, Legacy Virus casualties and Xavier’s failure to rehabilitate Sabretooth all increased Xavier’s frustration. When anti-mutant humans killed young mutant Dennis Hogan near the Xavier Institute, Onslaught finally awakened within Xavier, and it decided to achieve Xavier’s dream of peaceful mutant/human coexistence by utilizing the interdimensional firm Landau, Luckman & Lake’s warp portals to bond humanity into a collective intelligence. To this end, Onslaught attempted to generate fear to heighten psionic activity. In Vancouver, B.C., Onslaught sought to recruit Xavier’s step-brother Cain Marko, the criminal Juggernaut. When Marko declined, Onslaught mentally blocked Juggernaut from remembering its true identity, and magnetically threw him to New Jersey.
Learning the mutant-hunting Sentinels could store psionic energy, Onslaught abducted scientists to create a Sentinel army. Soon after, Xavier encountered X-Man (Nate Grey) on the astral plane, who pulled Xavier’s astral form into the physical world. Onslaught thus escaped Xavier’s mind, but was still “tethered” to Xavier. To assist disseminating his hyper-psionic energy, Onslaught had the mutant teleporter Gateway abduct the psionic mutant Chamber, sent the armored mutant Post to “test” the X-Men and Cable, and recruited and empowered other mutants such as Blob, Mimic and Holocaust. Now fully possessing Xavier, Onslaught revealed Xavier’s suppressed darker memories to Jean Grey, hoping to recruit her Phoenix Force experience to gain more power. Rejecting Onslaught, Jean removed the Juggernaut’s mental block, discovering that Onslaught was Xavier. Onslaught then trapped Juggernaut’s consciousness inside Marko’s own empowering Ruby of Cyttorak, and created the child-like psionic projection Charlie to befriend and capture vastly powerful mutant child Franklin Richards.
As Xavier, Onslaught attempted to lead the X-Men to war against humans. When the X-Men resisted, Onslaught revealed itself and attempted to destroy them. Onslaught then mentally enslaved the Hulk and sent him after Cable, but Cable and Storm freed the Hulk. Onslaught captured X-Man, adding both his and Franklin’s psionic powers to its own. It sent the Sentinels to Manhattan to sow panic, created a Central Park citadel, and unleashed an electromagnetic pulse. The X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers and even Doctor Doom opposed Onslaught, and after Thor freed Xavier, Onslaught became even more powerful.
Concluding that no one was worthy to live, Onslaught decided to obliterate humanity and created a second sun. While Thor and Storm sought to minimize the resultant climactic damage, the Hulk had Jean Grey turn off his human mind, resulting in a rage-fuelled Hulk who shredded Onslaught’s psi-armor. Onslaught exploded, separating the Hulk from his human side, and became a being of pure mental energy. Thor began disrupting Onslaught’s form from within, and the other Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and several non-mutant allies weakened it further. As Onslaught dissipated, both Franklin and X-Man were rescued. Though believed dead, the heroes were actually transported to a pocket universe subconsciously created by Franklin where they briefly encountered a manifestation of Onslaught, heralding his future return.

I decided to go full explanation on Onslaught just in case because I'm sure there are people out there scratching their heads to the name. For those of us that know ... we also know he was one bad a** mutant and could be plenty scary. Plus he's one of the few that could control the Hulk. Cool villain with kick butt powers. I mean come on a mix of Magneto and Xavier ! What's not to like ?

marianne26 : What's so dumb about this? I think it is a good set of questions to ask. Everyone has favorites. Now if you meant you are too cool to answer this then to each their own but don't post just a simple sentence just for the sake of posting.

My favourite villains would have to be from Game of Thrones because they are so dynamic and not predictable. I find that their motive are more interesting and complex than most villains on TV where there motives for doing what they do is fairly one sided and cliche.

My favourite villain would have to be Petyr Baelish even though I want him to suffer the worst possible death.

Spoiler:
It's impossible not to hate him and love him at the same time as a villain. I mean he masterminded a plot to start a whole war just for his own goal which was just to obtain the love of a dead person or even for power for all we know.

For cartoons I have to say the Joker is my favourite villain only when he's portrayed dark and terrible. That's the Joker I loved reading in the comics. The Red Hood portrayal of him was basically all I could ask for.

Brain-Splattered : Sylar is such a great choice as a favorite TV villain. When you love to hate a villain that's when you know they are doing their job correctly. The amount of destruction Sylar did was insane. Ahhh all of this talk about Sylar makes me want to re-watch the series, especially since it's been over 5 years since I've watched an episode of the show.

From a television series my favorite Hero is Khaleese from game of thrones. (Counts as a hero right?)
My cartoon series favorite villain is the Joker from batman.
The reason why i picked Khaleese is because she is a kind ruler who is freeing everyone and gives them a choice to serve her and live or do not serve her and live. I picked the Joker because he is funny, smart, and always has something funny to say about everything.

Well hello all. This topic didn't take off like I thought it would but oh well. I like some of the responses I got to this. Interesting choices. Haven't seen Game of Thrones yet but me and my wife are hoping to start it soon. Busy watching Sons of Anarchy and House of Cards right now. Really hope that the show is as good as everyone I've talked to says it is.

Brain-Splattered :

I was just thinking. Are the main characters in Sons of anarchy the heroes or the villains then? House of cards I haven't watched yet but what I have read about it, maybe the same question would apply.
