So most people know that I am not much of a Call of Duty fan and that I prefer Battlefield even though I don't play those games as much either. Recently, I had begun to start playing Black Ops II and I kind of enjoyed it aside for a few challenges with the game. I did play the first Black Ops game so I kind of new what I was going to be expecting, and my brother has had the game for almost a year and sometime last month I decided that it was finally time to test it out and I liked it.

Graphics 9/10

I really do enjoy the graphics of the game because they look very real, and there's a ton of detail put into most of the maps that you can play on. My favorite map based on looks is Aftermath because it can really feel like you are in the remains of a town that was destroyed. It's not just luck or anything, the series is huge and has had it's practice with graphics, and on top of that, the developers are also well known for making beautiful looking games. The developers. Treyarch has developed 8 of the COD games, but most of which for a couple of consoles and is also known for the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, which almost all of the games in the series have received high scores. The developers have talent and resources to use and I feel that they have executed their plans perfectly in regards to what the game is going to look like. It's not just the maps and scenery that have been enhanced, but the character models, and other aspects also have a ton of detail in them and I am going o give the graphics category a 9 out of 10.

Sound 10/10

The sound of the game is just amazing for a variety of reasons. First off, you have the actual voices in the game, which fit in with the game quite nicely. Sam Worthington and Michael Keaton were both added in this game to do voices, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in film and other media and they have both done great jobs because the voices work well with the action of the game. Next up you have the sound effects of the game which are pretty crisp and clear such as the various explosions, airstrikes, and more which add so much more to the overall feel of the game. Lastly we have the soundtrack, which is simply humongous. The official soundtrack has about 48 or so songs that total more than 2 hours of music, with nearly all the music being written by Jack Wall who has done the music for Myst 3 and 4, Mass Effect 1 and 2, and has won 6 awards for his music. SOme of the songs make the game feel a lot more fun and energetic because there are songs that are very intense such as Adrenaline and my grade for the sound of the game is going to be a perfect score.

Addictiveness 9/10

The game is very addiciting, but only if you are a real fan of playing with others, if you only play the campaign mode, the game could become boring really quickly. FOr me, the game is very addicting because you get to play with so many other gamers around the world and you get to fight. Sure, it's pretty much the same as other games in the series or some other fps games, but it still has a lot to offer. On top of the single player and multiplayer modes, there's also the zombie modes which is what the Black Ops division of Call of Duty is really known for. In my opinion, you could spend hundreds of hours playing the game in multiplayer and zombie mode and not get bored because it's going to be a different unique experience each time and it's a lot of fun. My grade for addictivenes is going to be a 9 out of 10.

Story 7/10

As I have implied in the addictiveness category, I don't really like the campaign mode much, but it follows the journey of Alex Mason from the first Black Ops game. I have played maybe a couple hours total of the campaign and it's broken into two connecte stories, one in the late 1980's following Alex, and one in 2025 following his son. To me, the campaign mode is not at all interesting compared to the other modes, and I don't really feel that a good enough effort has been put into the single player modes as the other ones because I feel that it could have been much better and my grade for the story is going to be a 7 out of 10.

Depth 9/10

Again, i'm not really going to include the single player mode for the depth because it would have such a little impact in my opinion and in terms of depth, just the multiplayer and zombie mods alone manage to offer a lot. When it comes to the multiplayer, just the amount of maps that are available greatly increases the depth of the game. There are more than a dozen maps to choose from, each of which is huge. On top of that there's the thousands of different weapons combinations for you to choose from and more. That's just in the multiplayer mode, once you get into the zombie mode, there's even more to offer to the depth of the game. Because of this, I am going to give this category a 9 out of 10.

Difficulty 7

At times, the game can be very difficult, and I would have to say that it's not for everyone unless you have already played games of this genre, if this would be one of your first fps games, it could take A LOT of getting used to. The number one reason that this game can be challenging is the quick pace of the game. If you aren't quick, and aren't great at processing what you are seeing, then you might be too slow to react and you could find yourself dying a lot. On top of the quick paced nature of the game, you have to really learn the controls of the game. You have to figure out what does what, and again, you need to be quick about it. If you are good at being quick paced and learning the controls, then you shouldn't have a problem with the game, but if you don't, you could end up dying a lot and it could take a while to get used to the game and become accustomed to it. The game at times can become very difficult and I am going to give this aspect a 7.

Overall 8.5/10

I am going to have to say that this is one of my favorite Call of Duty games of all of them. I love the zombie mode a lot, I love the multiplayer mode even more and even though I am not a typical fan of the series, I now play this game on a daily basis because it's a lot of fun. My overall grade for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is going to be an 8.5 out of 10.

Yet another zanderlex review that I can not help but envy. Keep up the good work, man.

I have say that I preferred Black Ops 1 for the Zombies, and Black Ops 2 for the multiplayer, because of the freedom to change the score settings.

Very good review. I, however, did not really like the path they took with the story. The constant switching between two periods of time just confused me. If they stuck with one timeline then I probably would've liked the game a bit more.
