I know that those of us that do like to eat breakfast tend to be kind of picky about what we want to eat. Fill us in on your favorite breakfast food. Do you make it yourself ? ( If you make it then share your wisdom and throw us the recipe to something you think is so great. )  Do you go out to pick it up or dine in ? ( If so then where from ? )

To answer my own question ... for me it is : Biscuits and Gravy. I'm like " OH MY GOD!" when I see a plate of that sitting in front of me. I like to make my own so yeah I'll be sharing the recipe with y'all. I like to make my own but my favorite recipe is one I found by Paula Deen. Here it is and enjoy :

Biscuits and Gravy : Total Time: 45 min
Prep: 15 min
Cook: 30 min
Yield:8 to 10 servings
Level: Easy Recipe

Ingredients for Biscuits :
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup melted unsalted butter

Milk gravy, recipe follows :
1/4 cup bacon grease
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk warm
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoons pepper
2 tablespoons melted butter

Added Ingredient ( optional but one I always add ) : 1/2 pound of cooked spicy sausage.

Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cut in the shortening with a fork until it looks like cornmeal. Add the milk, a little at a time, stirring constantly until well mixed.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly two or three times. Roll out the dough with a floured rolling pin to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch cutter.
Place the biscuits in a greased iron skillet. Gently press down top of biscuits. Brush the biscuits with half the melted butter. Bake for 14 minutes or until golden brown. Brush the hot biscuits with the remaining butter. Split the biscuits in half and ladle milk gravy over the hot biscuits. Added note by Brain-Splattered : If you do not care to take the time to make your own biscuits then skip all of this step and just use canned grands biscuits or jumbo ones. Simply put them on a lightly sprayed pan and brush a little half melted butter over them when they are halfway done cooking.
Milk Gravy:
Heat bacon grease in a cast iron skillet ( In this step I also tend to add 2 or 3 tablespoons of the sausage grease. Just add a minor amount more of the flour and milk in the next steps )  . Add the flour and whisk until smooth and bubbly about 1 minute. Add the warm milk slowly and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a low simmer and stir, until thickened, about 5 minutes, adding milk as necessary to control the thickness. After the gravy is ready I like to add a 1/2 pound of cooked spicy sausage. Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over biscuits.

Recipe courtesy Paula Deen, 2008 with minor optional stuff added by me.

My favorite breakfast food would have to be a egg mcmuffin. Can't beat it with a cup of coffee on a cold day.

If I have to pick my most favorite breakfast food, it's got to be bacon and eggs, because I just really love bacon, and adding them with eggs, they both really goes great with each other.

Oatmeal. It's oa..tm..e...

Oh, fine. I can't even lie in text format, darn it. Gotta keep trying though. 'Oatmeal is good for you. Oatmeal is good for you. EAT THE OATMEAL!'

My favorite breakfast food is eggs, lightly scrambled, with cheddar cheese and mushrooms and onions smothered in salsa. We call it 'dirty scramble' (because we literally make it all in the same pan) and it does NOT look all that attractive) and we eat it for dinner sometimes too. It's best if you have time to saute fresh mushrooms and onions in a little butter, but even canned shrooms are good if you're in a hurry. You can add sausage or ham or bacon to it for protein too. Add some toast and your morning beverage of choice and you're good to go.

Biscuits and gravy is a nice traditional breakfast and I like it but if imma go all out, it's gotta be skillet-ized.

I especially like the skillet choices at Village Inn but in mom and pop restaurants it's more commonly and tastefully referred to as "garbage". That's where all manner of breakfast foods are piled together on one plate with two over easy eggs on top so that the yokes can be broken open so as to drench the entire mess.

If I'm cooking for myself at home, it would have to be the extremely calorie laden meal of peanut butter and jelly waffles. That's a waffle with peanut butter and jelly covering the finished product and then swamped with syrup. Hello, diabetes!

I don't know why I thought I had already responded to this thread... maybe there's a similar one to it somewhere.  I remember thinking I didn't have a favorite, and then thinking..... BISCUITS AND GRAVY! Totally, totally my fave, though I can't even recall the last time I had it.  I was shocked to see it in your original post, because I thought so few people in the last thread seemed to like it or even think of it. haha!

thephantombrain :
waffles topped with peanut butter and jelly might be... okay. Maybe even good in small quantities.  But ALSO swamped with syrup!??  That sounds... shudder-worthy!  Yikes!   I don't think I could take the sweetness or the... mouth-dryness that'd induce!

I really like pancakes. Sometimes, I go to IHOP for breakfast, and it's delicious. French Toast is very good as well, but not as good as pancakes.

It's all good. No such thing as a bad dish when it comes to pancakes or waffles. I just go nuts over biscuits and gravy. Pancakes and waffles would probably be like 3 or so further down my list on foods I would prefer but no bad combos to go with those that I have tried so far. My favorite pancake and waffle fix is blackberry filled pancake and waffle with peanut butter and bananas. With whip cream and honey poured over it. Topped off with pan roasted and chopped pecans. * Drooling already ! *

There are two things that I always go to when I want to eat breakfast.

The first is a toasted everything-bagel with cream cheese. The cream cheese has to be plain, I don't like the flavored ones .
The other things I go for is vanilla yogurt with cut up strawberries and honey-nut granola.

I usually finish it up with either a glass of OJ, cup of coffee or tea(more often that not it'll be the last two).

Sup Chris. Sounds like you and my wife have similar taste. She would eat the exact same things you have said in your post. The only difference being her drinks would either be coffee or apple juice. Other than that you both are exactly the same.  I was joking at her that I found her twin when I read your post. lol

When I was growing up, every Saturday morning my dad would make pancakes. His pancakes are the best that I have ever had anywhere! Most of the time, he'd put milk and vanilla extract in the batter...but whenever we were out of milk at the time, he'd use orange juice instead. I know that may sound a little weird but when its made right, its absolutely delicious! I actually tried to tell my wife how to make them, since I live with her now instead of my parents. She makes them good, but still not as good as my dad's!
