A while back I made thread with links to download save files which would load directly after the 4 parts in the game which crash the RGR Plugin (when using the VBA emulator link):
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=41358

Although those save files will load past the part which crash the Plugin, the drawback is that your current save file will be replaced.

One solution to play this game without the RGR Plugin crashing is to use the Mednafen emulator link. But what if you've already progressed in VBA and don't want to start over? You can now transfer your VBA save file over to Mednafen. Here's how:

Your current save file is titled:
1865 - The Legend of Zelda - The Minish Cap (U)(DCS).sav

You'll need to rename it to:
1865 - The Legend of Zelda - The Minish Cap (U)(DCS).a104896da0047abe8bee2a6e3f4c7290.eep

From this point go ahead and click the Play Game link on the right of the game page to play using Mednafen, doing so will cause the RGR Plugin to create the Mednafen directory in your RGR Plugin Data folder, then close the game after it has started up.

Here's the file path on your computer for which you will find the save file to rename:
    Windows 8, 7, Vista - C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-"your id number"VBASaves

Windows XP - C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-"your id number"VBASaves

    Or go to:

Start Menu > All Programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open Plugin Data Folder > User-"your id number" > VBA > Saves.

After you've renamed the file, you'll need to move it in your RGR Plugin Data folder from the VBA directory to the Mednafen directory:
    Windows 8, 7, Vista - C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-"your id number"Mednafen_newsav

Windows XP - C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-"your id number"Mednafen_newsav

    Or go to:

Start Menu > All Programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open Plugin Data Folder > User-"your id number" > Mednafen_new > sav.

Also to note, it's possible to switch your save file back to VBA by renaming it back to the original name and moving it back to the original directory. (remember to change the file extension from .eep to .sav)

Thank you for the solution. I'd hate to ask you this, but mednafen doesn't quite work for me.

It'll load the game, but after that the game immediately lags, and none of the buttons work on my keyboard(except the up arrow key), which,

depending on the game, either resets the game after I press it twice, or acts as the enter key.

I've tried Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, and have recently tried playing Minish Cap and Mother 3 English translation(Neither work).

I know that mednafen works for basically everyone else here, so I'm fairly certain it's my terrible laptop.

If possible I'd like the VBA emulator to not crash at these certain points, or a different solution that will allow me to keep my save file.

I'm not asking for a fix for mednafen (Again, I think it's my computer), and if my request is too much that's okay to.

But I'd like to at least know why the plugin can't load those points in the game, in my perspective they're just transfer events that load the

character into a different map with a chain of other interactive events.

The games done that before, so I think it's just a little bit funny.

Thank you for reading this, and again, I hate that I'd need you to do such.

--Edit--

Just realized how stupid I am, I had the controls for mednafen messed up. Now I just have to deal with the audio/visual lag.

thecrzyguy : Actually, there is a significant percentage of of vizzed users for which Mednafen does not work. It just depends on your computer.

I'm not able to fix this beyond the 2 threads which I've posted. I asked the RGR Plugin Developer about this issue with this game a long time ago, and his response was something along the lines of being too time-consuming to alter the code.

I'm not sure why the Plugin crashes at those specific parts of the game, but again, neither did the RGR Plugin Developer.

Okay, glad Mednafen works for you now, but yeah, it's an inferior emulator to VBA based on the version the RGR Plugin is built on.
