“We finished putting up the Christmas garland” said Reks

After he said that Reks stood there with the rest of his
friends. They had been waiting for the call and it had finally come. Now, as
the five of them stood there observing the work they had done he knew as the
rest of them that it had been worth it.

“It looks beautiful!” said Sherry.

She was one of the staff members at the hospital. And she
was also the only staff member who seemed to actually care for them. They had
been there for seven months. Seven months of what had seemed like sheer
torture. But, in the end though, Reks knew as the rest of them that time was
finally up and that what was really going on was the stuff dreams were made of.

Reks smiled and he noticed the rest of friends were too. They were all thinking
the same thing. The game was on.

The Christmas tree stood there. It was a testament to what
was to come. He turned and looked at the clock. It was almost ten pm. That was
bedtime. And just when he was thinking this she spoke.

“Time to get ready for bed!” said, Delana.

They all sighed. Reks was the first to break into speech.

“Allright guys, lets get some sleep.”

Reks grabbed Ari’s hand. Ari was the youngest of the five
and exceptionally smart. He was also the most emotional. Ari looked up at Reks
and smiled. They shared a room together in the boys hall. Reks smiled back at
Ari and gave him a wink afterwards. Then they both turned and there stood their
other friends, three girls. Their names were: Destiny, Lissa, and Hope. The
girls were looking at them with sparkles in their eyes and Reks burst out
laughing, followed by Ari. Then the girls laughed too. After that the girls
nodded their heads as did the boys back to them and then each went to their
halls.

~

In the bedroom the four beds stood in each corner. Destiny,
Lissa, and Hope each looked at each other while they stood in the middle of the
room. They had changed into their pajamas and had done the evening rituals and
were now ready for bed. Only tonight was special. Tonight, everything was going
to change.

“Allright, we have to be on the roof at midnight for our departure.” Said Destiny.

“She will be in position tonight so she told me.” Said Lissa.

Hope quietly moved around the other two and looked out the
window. She thought to herself a moment and then looked at Destiny and Lissa.
They had went to the window as well. It was dark outside and the clouds were
partly covering the moon. Hope was hopeful. Then she went and turned out the
lights and they each went to bed.

~

Reks and Ari awoke. Reks checked the clock and it said eleven thirty. It was
the knock on the door that had awoken them. It was time. Reks looked at Ari
and nodded his head. They both got up and changed clothes. After that they
walked to the door.

Standing in front of the door Reks and Ari looked at each other and then to the door.

“Go for it Ari.”

A look of concentration came over Ari and then a sound. Reks
listened as the lock came open and then the door swung out. Reks smiled and
then gave Ari a pat on the back. It had worked. Sherry was standing in the hall
as Reks and Ari stepped into it. The look on her face was one of surprise that
turned into relief.

“So, then it is true.” Said Sherry.

Reks and Ari both looked at Sherry and then Reks spoke.

“Yes, we have been able to do things for awhile now.”

“We’ve passed your test. Now, we get to go.” Said Ari.

Sherry looked at the both of them and then smiled.

“I guess so then.” She said.

They walked to the main room then where there were two
halls. The girls hall and the one that lead to the exit. The girls were
standing in the main room. Sherry, Reks, and Ari walked in and they all stood
in a circle.

It was dark in the main room save for the Christmas tree and the lights on it.
The table in the center of the room stood empty. There was a couch and a few
recliners in front of a widescreen t.v. A game console sat on the floor with a
game next to it. A copy of Final Fantasy twelve. Reks walked over to the game
and looked at it for a moment. The rest of the group watched him. It seemed
like it had been so long ago Reks thought. He wasn’t worried about it though.
Reks turned and looked at the group. They each looked back at him and he knew.

“Lets go.” He said finally.

The group of friends walked to the exit door that lead to a hospital hall. The exit
door was metal and had special security locks. The group of friends looked at Sherry.

After a moment they hugged as a group.

Sherry looked at them after and then smiled.

“Good luck.” She said.

The companions turned to the door and Ari stepped forward. He tensed up for a
moment and then large sounds of movement were heard as Ari opened the security
door with his mind. They stepped into the hall. Lissa whispered softly and a ball of fire
appeared in her outstretched hand. It created enough light that they could make
out the hall and see where they were going.

At the end of the hall was the exit. Next to it was the front desk. There were other doors.
They weren’t concerned about them though. The group of friends walked down the hall
to the reception area where the front desk was.

The exit was in front of them. One last time Ari thought. He then smiled and
laughed softly. Last time.

Ari concentrated and opened the doors that would take themoutside. They stepped
out into the night.

It was snowing. Reks knew one of the few reasons they had gotten this far without
such trouble is that it was Christmas eve. The staff that ran the installation
were either all on vacation or at home. Security was minimal on this night. The only
thing they had to worry about was getting through the front gate. That’s where Sherry
had said there would be two guards on duty. It was the only way out. Reks looked
up into the sky. A few clouds, some stars, and the moon. He wondered about all the snow that was falling. He
didn’t know how she did it but, she did. Destiny could control nature.

As if she heard his thought she laughed quietly and put her hand on his shoulder.

“Watch this.” She said.

Suddenly, a wind gust swept through. And then more and the snow that was falling
grew thicker and thicker until it was a full on blizzard.

The ground quickly became covered. Reks looked around. Basically, they were in
a sort of bowl with an exit. Rock all around them except for the entrance and
what was above them. He then remembered that they only had so much time. About
10 minutes to be exact.

“Everyone hold hands and walk forward towards the gate.” Reks said.

The snow was so thick in the air Reks knew spotting them would be most difficult.
That had been the idea. They walked forward slowly, the snow on the ground getting
higher. Finally, they were at the gate and the snow was so thick in the air Reks
could barely see what was in front of him.

That’s when the alarm sounded. It was loud and red lights visible just barely
could be seen lighting up.

The guard station by the gate was like a miniature squat tower. Reks
heard the door to it open and he could just barely see light come out and then a
guard. The guard was wearing black. They were all wearing white and blended in.

Reks smiled.

The guard in black ran through the snow and disappeared towards the facility.

There was only one guard left. Reks took his cue and went to the guard tower.
He peeked around the corner and saw the other guard on the radio but there was static.
The guards back was to him. Reks stepped into the guard shack and quietly snuck
up on the unsuspecting guard. Just as he got into position behind the guard there
was a loud noise.

The guard in his excitement had dropped his keys and as he looked to pick them up
he noticed Reks.

Reks looked at him and just decided to smile and afterwards he winked.

Then he jumped over the guard, well more like off of his back and landed in front of the
guards work station. There were a number of buttons. One said main gate by it and
Reks hit it.

Some orange lights went off in the room and then Reks heard the gate opening.

He turned and he saw the guard getting up. He ran as fast as he could by the guard but,
he was tripped and he skidded across the floor partway out the door.

“RUN!” he yelled.

The guard was on Reks then.

~

The door was open. When Destiny heard Reks say run she and everyone else grabbed
hands and they all ran through the door. They were in a crevasse. It went on for a ways
and then they very nearly fell off of it as it opened up to the edge of a cliff.

They had stopped just in time.

The blizzard was thick in the air now and had taken on its own nature. Destiny had let go of
it a while ago. She turned around and looked down the crevasse.

“Reks!” she yelled.

No sound. Time was almost up. They had one minute.
A different noise started however, a humming sound. It was coming from below.

“HERE I COME! GET READY!”

It was Reks. Destiny laughed out loud and then he was there.

Reks was breathing heavily as he slid to a stop next to them.

“Its midnight.” Said Hope then.

Then a glow light up from below them down the edge of a cliff and the airship rose
from the depths. It was lit up with various lights and a spotlight homed in on them.

“Hey!”

It was the guards. Reks turned and saw them standing ten feet away. He looked
back and saw a door slide open as the airship was adjacent
to the cliff.

Alls they had to do was jump to it.

The guards were slowly walking towards the friends their hands outstretched motioning
for them to come back their way.

“I trust you Reks.”

It was Ari. He was looking intently at Reks. The girls standing next to him nodded their heads.

In the beginning Reks had had a hard time believing himself but, now.

“EVERYONE JUMP!” Reks yelled.

And they did, across the gap, through the air, and into the unknown.
“We finished putting up the Christmas garland” said Reks

After he said that Reks stood there with the rest of his
friends. They had been waiting for the call and it had finally come. Now, as

I'm still utterly confused, but I'm sure that Ari, Reks, Destiny (can't wait to play that game! Wait, wrong Destiny), Hope and Lissa are OCs, and possibly robots possibly from Dr. Light.
