"B-But there are barely any flaws with Titan. It's one of the best anime out there." Incorrect. While Attack On Titan is a great show,(Gets a 8.6 in my book) there are flaws. And they are noticeable.Maybe not in the first watch/Read.But they will become revealed to you, overtime. And it is my belief, that you should acknowledge a shows good, and bad points. You can't have light without darkness, and darkness without light. They require each other to survive. So try not to take this personally. If there were no flaws in anything, there would be no reason to be happy in the first place.Anyhow,i believe my insane speaches have bored you enough.Let me tell you 3 unfortunate flaws, with Attack On Titan. 1.Characterization,while good,is not as great as it could be: If you really analyze it,most of the characters in titan, have a generic personality, but the writing is so good, that you don't even notice it.There not even stereotypes, there just templates for the characters. I'm the quirky one,who has a very strange fascination, for titans. ![]() I'm the silent Bad*ss.Who is arguably the most skilled character in the show, when dealing with the antagonist. ![]() I'm the smart one. While i am physically less effective then all of you,i have awesome plans, that get us out of situations. ![]() I'm the rival.I dislike the main protagonist at first, for little to no reason. But eventually,we become allies for the greater good.(If the picture does not appear, open it in a new tab, using the image url.) ![]() Once again, these are not stereotypes.A stereotype,is a fat kid, that automatically likes to eat food alot. These characters do have a more complicated personality, then that. However, there are two characters i would specifically like to talk to you about. Eren, and Mikasa. These are the two most flawed characters,in the show. They get so boring over time, that it makes we want to fall a "Eren is to angry,at the Titans." This is what Eren's character is.It's his fuel.He cannot live, without this being attached to his character. It's almost as if he has no deeper psychology, than the feeling of anger. Some would argue that's understandable, and i must admit,i used to be on that same boat to.Losing a family member to something tragic, can scar you for life. But it's the fact that he never gets over it,that pisses me off the most. In the show,it has literally been 5 years, since this event has happened in his life, and he is still completely pissed off about it,like it just happened yesterday.Listen, there is no way to forget about something tragic, that has happened to you.And there is no way to completely get over it.The best thing you can do,is learn to deal with those demons.Ganta, from Deadman Wonderland whines less than this character.(Well..That's if you're reading the manga. If you don't,Ganta will still whine alot.) The way that his mind works,is so tunnel visioned. The problem is,that anger is such an essential part of his character. He is getting close to Sasuke Uchiha levels,of b*tching from an event that happened in his life.It is VERY hard, for a human to hold hatred for something, for such an extended period of time.If you think about it,the human brain is built to keep pushing. To adapt. It's like in a nature documentary, when a lioness finds one of her cubs dead. She grieves for a maximum amount of 10 minutes, then she moves on.She has to,or the other cubs will starve. Pain either makes you stonger,or it makes you weaker. At this point,i can't even tell how Eren let the pain effect him. AND THAT'S A RANT! Onto the next character.Although, this one should be alot shorter. "Mikasa's psychology,is based around Eren." That is not good. She is like a hound, deticated to its master.I'm convinced Eren can snap his fingers, and she will do anything for him.(Which is not good.Could you imagine what a boy his age, could make her do?!) And just like i said before, this is understandable. If someone saved your life, and helped you evolve psychologically, chances are that you would be grateful to. But..Something is just off.Creepy Yandere levels of off. I bet you five bucks,Mikasa read "The Yuno Gasai Guide To Keeping A Man." ![]() The fact that her loyalty to Eren,is an essential part of her character,is also what makes her character flawed.Tell me,what would happen if Eren died? And i don't mean come back to life,i mean dead, forever? Do you think her character would evolve, for fight past this event? I don't think so.She would just become exactly like Eren.Or extremely depressed. There is also the fact that, throughout the series,Mikasa is basically..Perfect.At least physically. Have you noticed that throughout the series, she is barely damaged,in the most major fights. It almost feels like she cannot die. That perfection, may be one of her few flaws.Just rewind your brain, through the entire series. How much has she been injured physically..? Excluding her childhood, she is barely touched throughout the series. She can kill most titans, with ease. I believe i have ranted enough about number 1.Now for number 2. 2.SO MANY F*CKING RESCUE ARCS: There are 4 of them! 2 of them in the anime, and 2 more in the manga!..Does nobody notice this! The first time is when the city is under attack a second time, and they have to fend off the Titans.(And yes, defending the city does count as a rescue arc.Just because something is not human, does not mean it can't be rescued.) The second time,is when Eren gets captured by Annie. And i won't mention others in the Manga,as i don't want to spoil you all,who have not read it yet.But let me just say, that it starts to get formuliac. This starts to appear, after every 1-2 story arcs, which gets very annoying. And if you think about it,the storytelling elements of Titan, are a bit easy to predict. Sudden event happens.Maybe we're executing a plan we created.Or maybe we are under attack. We usually win,but get beaten to a pulp, and lose a few lives. We take time to recover, and develop character.Possible information,is gained from the battle. The story will never stray away from this formula.EVER! This is starting to get to Bleach levels,of repeating itself. And i'll tell you now,if Hajime Isayama does not change this, people will eventually catch on to this form of storytelling, and will just realise that things are just getting repeated, but in a different way.It took 35 volumes for the Bleach fans to catch on.But guess what? They did. There needs to be another way to progress the story.Or else..Well,sales will start dropping. 3.The Anime Has A Read The Manga Ending: *Bangs head on desk* Why..Why do producers do this? But i guess most of us already know the answer,to that question. For those that do not know, the simplest way to explain what i read the Manga ending is,is this. "A read the Manga ending,is when a show does not exactly end,but just stops." Let me give you a few examples. Tokyo Ghoul Has a read the manga ending. ![]() Btoom has a read the manga ending.(Fun fact, the manga has been on Hiatus, for more than a year!) ![]() The Deadman Wonderland anime, has a read the manga ending.(6 volumes of the manga, have been released in English. This also appears to be on Hiatus for a bit.) ![]() Mysterious Girlfriend X Has a read the manga ending. ![]() The World God Only Knows, has a read the manga ending.Oh,and good luck trying to read it legally. As the series has only ever been released in Japnese, and German.(Thank god i speak Japanese..) ![]() And my biggest example of a read the manga ending,Berserk. This show has an ending that screws the audience over SO MUCH! That it basically Rick Rolls you! ![]() These endings are mostly created for 3 things. For one, they future proof themselves,in case they want to create another season.2,they don't piss fans off, because alot of fans for the manga, dislike anime only endings.3,They can force fans to buy the manga. (Though this one is the least effective. As sites like Manga reader obviously exist.) Now i personally,am..Somewhat fine with read the manga endings. They have there purposes, and at times, they are necessary. But they are so,so annoying! And when a show that is as good as Titan does this,it really pisses you off.Specifically if you don't have much cash, and you dislike not reading stuff legally.Still,i feel as if it is justified here.As there are not many options they could have taken here. An anime only ending,i suspect would have made people SO mad,to an extreme degree. But lets say you're someone who does not have access to this stuff legally, what are you going to do? Anyhow, this is my cue to sign out of here.Once again, try not to take this personally.I'm a huge fan of Titan. It's in one of my top 25 series. But like i said,i think its important to see the good, and the bad in something.Anyhow,my next anime discussion will be on Christmas Eve.See you guys later.*Waves* Oh yes, here is a hint, about what i will be talking about. "Every Comic,is someones first." ![]() (Well..Technically that's a manga volume.) 1.Characterization,while good,is not as great as it could be: If you really analyze it,most of the characters in titan, have a generic personality, but the writing is so good, that you don't even notice it.There not even stereotypes, there just templates for the characters.
