For the first time in at least a few years, I've been invited to an actual birthday party for one of my friends. Many things change for parties after everyone becomes older, so I know it's going to be very different this time. I have 6 days to figure out what to do or even if I'm going (because the party might coincide with another event).

It's going to be a huge party with a lot of people, and it'll be mostly girls.

Almost everyone in my school is nice to me and accepting of me, so I think I'll do great, but I'm being on the safe side and asking for advice first. I already asked my dad. He told me to just be myself and I said I'll do that and try to get involved as much as I can.

Does anyone have any other advice for me? I'd really appreciate it

This will be quite a test of how much I've improved in my social and blending in abilities, and I'm excited and ready for it!

I say go for it!

Since you're so keen on testing your social skills, like you said, I think this would be a perfect chance for you to do so! I think you're going to do well . If you aren't like me, then you're not going to hide in the bathroom and sneak out every five minutes for a slice of pizza XD.

Anyway, you sound really excited about this, so, yeah, go for sure. I don't think anything bad could happen, and, assuming it isn't like my school parties, which mainly consist of blinding lights and ear-splitting music that sounds like cats drowning, it's probably going to be a lot of fun XD! Most people aren't as easily annoyed by loud sounds and crowds as I am (despite how hard I try not to show it), I'm sure you'll be just fine .

Anyway, *rereads thread's title*, this was about advice...

Well, all I can say at the moment is pretty much the same thing your dad had to say. Just be yourself . If some people, for some dumb reason, don't like whatever "yourself" is, then it's their problem, and you should just move on and talk to someone else who does respect and appreciate you instead of being someone else to impress the idiots XD. You might make some new friends, so go !

I hope you have a fantastic time . Good luck !

NintendoFanKimmy, out!~

EDIT: I haven't been to a birthday party in ages either, but I'm assuming it's just like a regular party but with cake instead . You are a little older, though, so it could be very different. Haven't really been to a "mature" party before (I really don't call kids screaming whenever "Wrecking Ball" comes on "mature" ), but I'm sure you won't find it that hard to adapt

Good luck again !!!

NintendoFanKimmy, out (again)!~

EDIT #2: Nice layout!!!

If you're working on your social skills, you should put this as a higher priority than your other 'event' you mentioned.  Go and talk to people and see them outside of school.  Going to that party will show them you're able to be establish connections out side of school and that's where real friendships are made.

Advice: If you know drinking or eating things, like eating a lot of cake or drinking Mountain Dew, make you wired and go crazy, avoid those drinks and food.  Listen way more than you talk but get in conversations and practice.  If these kids at school invited you, it's because they are curious to see how things work outside of school.

Wear clean clothes, shower before you go, thank the birthday person for inviting you when you get there and thank their mom right away too.  You can even show up when it starts and offer to help set things up.  But relax and if you get overwhelmed, find the kid's mom or dad and talk to them a few minutes.  And go back to it.

Challenge yourself, this stuff is fun.  Develop the skills to enjoy it.

Pac, you totally got this! You got invited because people like you. You're smart and funny and as long as you have confidence in what I just said, it's completely true. Don't doubt any of it. When you have confidence, you wear it like a nice set of clothes.

My advice - Think good thoughts and good things will happen.

NintendoFanKimmy : Thanks for complimenting me on my layout and wishing me luck!

I'm probably not going to go anywhere unless I really should. There likely will be music but it'll be good music because the birthday girl and her family are Christians. Loud sounds and crowds don't annoy me much anymore so I should be fine. It'll definitely be a crazy party so I'd better be XD

As long as I don't have a lot of sugar, I'll be myself and my nervousness might not be so obvious.

There'll be a lot of people there, if not everyone, that like me so I shouldn't have to worry about impressing them since I've already done it. Also, if there are any people that don't like me for who I am, there'll be a lot of others that will want to stand up for me.

warmaker : I'll try to avoid having a lot of sugar because it doesn't make me more crazy but it does make me more shaky sometimes, and that combined with the nervousness will feel like it's almost unbearable.

Thank you all for the very useful advice!

NintendoFanKimmy: I thought you'd love to know this. I think I got all the advice I should have but I'll let this thread stay open until after the party

I just found out the party is located at my local skating rink so I'll have an opportunity to go skating for the first time Skating isn't a common thing so there'll probably be at least a few people there who can't skate and I won't feel like
the odd one out for once. As long as I'm careful I'll do great

PacmanandMariofan : Oh, that sounds great!

Just felt the need to say this, but pleaaase be careful!!! I know I've basically just emphasized what you said you were going to do , but it can never be stressed too much .

Anyway, sorry if that alarmed you ^^"; I get worried easily (as obviously shown in the I'm Sorry thread XD), but don't worry! I'm sure you'll be fine, and there is going to be a LOT of people, like you said, so there'll always be someone to help you when you need it!

Good luck and have fun !!!

Yeah, this thread should stay open, so you can update us on how things go .~

I hope you have a blast !!!~

I'm going to make a separate thread for what happened at the party because I'm going to be talking about more than just the party and I want it all to be in 1 post, so

Local Mods : Please close now.
