Gotta love "Final Destination" from the Smash series. Wide open with no terrain, you have only your skill to rely on, especially with no items turned on.
I also enjoyed the final boss "The Collector" and "The Negativatron" in both Little Big Planet games.
More recently, I was playing the final level of Broforce, and, although difficult, it was really awesome.

When it comes down to immersion it's easy. That'll be City 17 from Half-Life 2. When you boot up the game for the first time you really feel like you are part of the game and the character's intros are well performed. Most of this part is just an interactive cut scene. Either you can listen to what everyone has to say or you could go around throwing books in their faces.

When you comeback to the city, further on in the game, you know feel like you know the place but there is something there that is a little different. Things have changed since your last visit and Gordon Freeman has made a huge impact on the area too.

If it's for gameplay I'll have to make a hard decision between de_cache from Counter-Strike: Global Offencive and various stages from Super Mario World. For now I'll have to go with de_cache. Super Mario World offers a lot of platforming fun but I have been play a lot more CS:GO laterly.

So why is de_cache so good? It's one of the maps in the game that is easy to learn but hard to master, a little bit like dust 2. The layout is unique and simple and the textures provide guides to nade spots. The map allows for fast rotation and reaching contact points on parts of the map is fast (for instance B site and Middle) and others take longer (A site through blue door and etc.). Cache is one of the few maps other than Dust 2 and Overpass where I have put time into coming up with my own smokes spots and learning from players better than myself. I made sure that I played this map with my mind and not just my mouse.
