This thread is for staff and members alike...including you newbies who are out there. Here is a place where you can tell your stories...when you were a newbie or if you are still one. What it was like...what it is like if you still are. I really love stories...fiction and non-fiction. I did storytelling in forensics and it was a blast...though I did fiction back then. These stories here though are a most non-fictional share...that is the topic rule so to speak. Feel free to share your newbie stories here and most of all...have fun playing!

My Life as a Newbie: oldschoolboyz

I actually discovered vizzed a few years ago but, I did not join. I did play some games though as a guest. I decided to come back though and join this time and I'm really glad I did.

Day one: My newbie post and the megaman underwear thread. I can't remember which one of these I actually did first but, my newbie post got traffic like day 2 or 3. You can introduce yourself in the newbie post forum and I did...Yay! Three members posted to it and welcomed me. They were very nice and they made me feel better about everything. The megaman underwear thread...LOL! Yes, I posted a thread about megaman and underwear...his underwear to be exact. I got a few replies to it although they weren't exactly on topic. Everybody interprets things their own way though so, no harm done really I guess.

After those first few days life was basically eat, breathe, sleep, what nots, and vizzed. I DID take a shower at some point (there is a forum on hygiene if anyone is interested) in all of this...I think 2 actually...maybe 3.

In all of this time I have been up to one thing as a newbie...do everything I can to NOT be popular. It worked quite well actually. All of my life I have been popular and I wanted to see what it was like to NOT be that way so, I took steps. Hardly anyone responded to my threads or posts and I got a rating on my posts equivalent to the days I was on if I remember correctly. However, by day six I had over a hundred posts and had a done a thread each day, which I highly encourage any newbie to do. There were days I laughed, and there were days I cried. Its one of the hardest things I've ever done ever. I don't feel ashamed for it, trying to not be one of those people. I guess we all just need to experience things for ourselves on occasion. Tonight however, remembering all the fan mail I once received from friends and people I realized it to be nothing more than an illusion and I will say to anyone...live your life as is, not what you think it should be.

The chat room: It is highly kewl there and you will in fact meet some nice people. I did and made friends too even though I was playing my little game on things. I do advise however, that some things just aren't meant to be said...though in my case it was actually just a test and I did advise the chat manager of it...after...lol.

I have to admit my final days as a newbie were the most emotional. Living life at the bottom but, you still get to move up. Yet again the illusion but, I knew ultimately after my realization that I would never be able to keep it up. With that being said my newbie days have now come to an end. I am a full fledged member and I really look forward to what comes next here on vizzed. My apologies to anyone who may have gotten the wrong impression of me due to my act and a very BIG THANK YOU to everyone and davideo7 (he is the guy in charge of all of this) for letting me be here. I plan on staying...until I am either cremated or hit by that really random car (just kidding on that last part). Thank you for playing!!

Good luck on here. Can you explain more about why you wanted to be unpopular? Also, what did you do differently to be unpopular vs. how you're acting now? I'm a bit unclear on that.

I'm afraid my newbie experiences will not be very typical. Well, the first part is. Like many other users on here, I was an RGR newbie. I came to play games. For unknown reasons, one day I came around and decided to check out the board. I've only ever really been "active" on one other board on the internet, and that was a dumb board anyway. I couldn't even mention Harry Potter on that board without starting a giant argument about witchcraft. But that's neither here nor there.

At any rate, when I first took a peak at the board, my political opinions and religion were already a huge misfit for a good portion of the vocal user base on here. If I remember right the Christian Conservatives board was then a regular board fixture, not a rented forum. I thought it was weird that it would be "Christian Conservatives" rather than just Christians. I perused several threads in that forum and felt increasingly uncomfortable, as most people were coming from a tradition of Christianity I was already moving away from.

I stayed away from the forums for a long time after that. One fateful day, I was bored and decided to check the chat room. My name was similar to crazycatpup's, and due to that and what KG would later describe as how easily I interacted with everyone else, I was immediately accused of being a rereg. Mr. Pace, specifically, for anyone who is old enough to remember.

After that, The Planned Accident decided to play matchmaker with me and a staff member. The whole experience was pretty surreal and fascinating to me. I didn't expect to get nearly so much attention my first time in chat. I also found out pretty quickly that for a user base that had a lot of vocal Christians, many of the chatters at that time were atheists. That also fascinated me. So, I came back. I met people. Though I'd never made a post in the forums, people gave me trust points until one day, I was a trusted member. I went directly from newbie to trusted without going through member first. Yeah.... once I finally did start posting on the forums I don't think that got me very well liked.

I could go on about how my opinion and understanding of the site morphed from what it was at the start to what it is now, why my chat experience was so unique, and why I am still here, but that really doesn't fit in with what this thread is about. So I'll refrain.

But anyway, that's my story.

Well hello, this is day three as a newbie for me. So far I'm just playing games and reading posts. I found this site while looking for information on the different Pokémon Roms. If there is anything you guys could suggest I do that I'm not already doing that would be great. Um, I've never been one to stay long on forums (after too much reading the screen hurts my eyes) but this place seems really nice and the people seem sincere.

So far everyone is nice and I can tell a lot of heart has been dedicated to this site. CatLady, what did you mean by "Christian Conservatives" board. Are many members here Christians or intolerant of others. I myself am a young witch so you might see why I might be concerned.

I am not intolerant of other religions (my parents are catholic and protestant) but some people have many misgivings about what they 'think' they know and are not easily persuaded. Plus, I've had more than enough 'save your soul' talks for a lifetime.

I like the freedom to choose as much as the next person and am satisfied with my religion. If I feel otherwise than I shall choose otherwise. As far as I am concerned religion is not who is right or who is wrong, its how you view the world, death and your treatment of those around you. In other words religion is philosophy. Not a cult.

I enjoy passionate arguments and I hope to make many friends here (as well as to play more games than are really necessary). Along the way I want learn more about myself and everyone here (ok, maybe not everyone but as many as humanly possible). This place seems really fun and if its ok, I'd like to have fun with all of you.

I haven't been here long but I would like to be.
