Personally, my favourites are Ramone Rojo from fistful of dollars, Cirno from touhou and Bigby from the Fables comic series.
Post what your own are below, also, if I accidentally put this in the wrong section then sorry but I wasn't sure where to put it since It's covering all realms of fiction.

This is one that took a lot of thinking, but I think I've decided.
Roland Deschain, the last Gunslinger, from "The Dark Tower" series by Stephen King.
The reason for this is how he is portrayed.

King managed to make him larger than life, a force straight out of fairy tales,
and he managed to do this, while still loading him down with a truck full of character flaws,
He is larger than life, yet at the same time human.
Brutally efficient, and driven. Yet obsessive, and slow to change.
A survivor, who has refused to move on as the world as, but refuses to be crushed by it either.
He is human yes, and very much mortal, but even forces that existed before time fear him.

He knows when to be diplomatic, and he knows when to shoot.
And believe me, when he starts shooting, you better not be on the other end.
Even with his good hand gone, he is probably the deadliest shot alive.

My favorite, absolute favorite, is difficult to pinpoint.

I like many different characters, and it would be hard to just pick one.

But one of my favorites would be Metal Sonic.

I know that a lot of people may favor Shadow, and I understand that, but enough about Shadow for a moment!

I want to talk about Metal Sonic!

He's cold, unfeeling, a merciless killing machine who has the capacity for feelings but chooses to remain void. Powerful, and an awesome doopleganger, he was the first of Sonic's Rivals.

It really is the whole deal of a character vs his robotic super copy, and how epic this battle could be!

The problem being that Sonic always wins, and in fact, that's why a lot of the epicness is taken away from a series I guess.

If they wanted to make a good story with metal Sonic, they could, but he should come back and do something utterly obliterating to Sonic. Recreate that feeling in lost world that Sonic had of being all alone, when Eggman was gone and Tails was "Roboticized"

Make Sonic utterly beat down by his opponent, and then rescued by Amy or something, and then Have metal Sonic rebel again, going on a "burn everything" rampage or something. Have him face Shadow in the story, have the villains actually WIN every once in a while!

I do want to write a story about Metal Sonic just as a proof on concept that he doesn't have to be unused, undeveloped character that he so often is in the games.

Making him win for once isn't the only way though.

Sonic Boom has left opportunities for him to work with Sonic, and, yes, I do know that Sonic Heroes isn't canon, (or that it wasn't even the greatest idea to do Metal Madness) But look at how much Metal Sonic wants to conquer Sonic there.

If he suddenly had to team up with Sonic. . . .

Now THAT would cause some stress

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . .

I'd have to say Azoth From the Night Angel Trilogy. Azoth Quote 'Happiness? I just don't want to be afraid anymore'

Then I would say Richard Cypher The Sword of Truth Series.Richard Quote "Trouble sires three children,"

Then I would argue why each one was great. Behind these spoiler censors of course.

Azoth
Spoiler:
Also know as Kylar Stern for the majority of the series. Had a terrible upbringing, homelessness, orphan, child gangs, and the last parts of his childhood go like this. His mute best friend and love interest, is taken at night by someone he was suppose to have already killed. Her face was cut up, beyond any recognition, her life is in question. From there he commits to killing his target, if only for revenge. He succeeds, And begins his training. A few weeks in he learns she is alive, and disobeys his master to see her. He tells her as much, and also says that this will be the last time she shes him. Because he does again, he has no doubt his master will catch him and kill him for his disobedience. As he goes to walk away after that, She speaks "Don't leave me" he pauses, shocked. then begins to walk away again. "Please?" His eyes fill with tears, and he runs out of the door- Straight into someones chest. His Master.

Richard
Spoiler:
Also know as Richard Rahl is awesome for so many reasons. His father left home for An extended amount of time, even longer than usual. Only to return one night secreting away a book. A book his father had him memorize until he knew it from memory, page for page, word for word. The book was then destroyed never to fall into the hands of those who would abuse it's knowledge. After a few years he comes home one day to find his father dead on the floor of the house his intestines strewn about that home carefully. And all of this occurs, in flashbacks before the story even begins.

There's just so many to choose from, but I will have to go with Nellie Gomez from the 39 Clues, Sherlock Holmes, and Wlliam Cage from Edge of Tomorrow.

This is a hard choice for me, theres just so many characters I love. My two top favorites are no doubt Sheogorath, The God of Madness from The Elder Scrolls video game series and V from the V For Vendetta comic book series. Both of them are gripped in mental illness, but where Sheogorath is driven by selfish wants and petty grudges V is driven by his politics and a horrific past. I love Sheogorath for his comedy potential and wild costume, I love V for his general baddassery and the fact he speaks in quotes..
