To me, the PlayStation introduced a huge competition in the video game world. Before Sony came along with this console, Nintendo pretty much ruled the turf, at least as far as I was concerned. At the time, it seemed that only the hardcore Nintendo franchise fans stayed with what they knew, but those of us who were adventurous, chose to seek the hidden treasures that lie within the mysterious black bottomed disc.
For me, at this time, my favorite PS1 game would have to be "Master of Monsters, Disciples of Gaia". The turn-based strategy games are among my favorite to play, and this is one of the greatest. There are several different avatars to choose from, each with different powers and monsters to summon. Advancing the monsters level was one of the most exciting parts of the game in my opinion, getting to see and play the upgraded versions was a thrill. I used to set up farms for leveling creatures by making a semi circle and luring the computer to send monsters in the feed my next project. Using the creatures I already leveled to wear them down, then kill them with the one I was working on.
I really enjoyed the Genesis version of the game and this one just improved on it. The PS1 version was much more enjoyable. I also liked it because you could challenge your friends in a head-to-head battle to find out who was the real Master of Monsters.
As far as a memory is concerned, I can remember sitting around a coffee table with 3 of my friends all taking turns playing Crash Bandicoot. That is a really fun game and provided us with many hours of entertainment.
