thing1 : The flap was the NES, you had to put the cartridge in a metal rack inside and when you pushed down the springs creaked. It sounded rickety, but man was it a sturdy machine. Nintendo Power magazine always published some article about parents accidentally running over the NES (Why was it in the freaking driveway?) and it still worked. (Seriously, how can you accidentally run over the NES? lol)

Playstation1 would be my favorite. I loved playing Spyro: Year of the Dragon and Crash Bash in my younger days.

My most favorite video game console, it's got to be the Super Nintendo, the reason I pick the Super Nintendo, I have grew up playing on the SNES and such titles as Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, Yoshi's Island, and a bunch of other interesting games on the Super Nintendo.
Even know my most favorite retro game was Super Mario 3, and it was on the NES (which happens to be my 2nd favorite retro console), but with Super Mario Bros. 3 as part of the All-Star bundle, this makes the Super Nintendo my most favorite retro console released.

Favorite retro console is either N64 or Playstation 1 because both have a lot of games I treasure the most and memories of playing and trading games with friends from my neighborhood. N64 had great games like Banjo-Kazooie, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Super Smash Bros.,  The Legend of Zelda, and more. Playstation had great games like Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid, and more. I don't know which I prefer more than the other.

thing1 : The N64 is definitely my favorite because that system has nostalgic classics such as Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Also it has Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 8. The original Super Smash Bros is on there also with all this awesomeness how could you not pick the N64?

My favorite is the SEGA Genesis, but I'm totally biased since I like it because it's the one I grew up on.

There are too many consoles to choose from! It would of been better if you made a poll instead. My favorite console would be the Gamecube, but that's not retro enough is it? My favorite retro console would probably be either the Nintendo Sixty Four, or the Playstation 1. *Ugh* I grew up with a Gameboy, a tree house, and three massive dogs(My favorite one was named Teddy Bear, and I was around the age of four).

Something about the Gamecube just feels right. The shape of the system, the unique controller, the small disks, it's all too fantastic.

My favorite console (not just retro console) is the Sega Genesis. One of the best if not the best controllers ever made, all three models look nice, and features the best games ever made.

The n64 would be my favorite retro system. I love the controller and how well the games are made. I like how the system doesn't break easily *cough* playstation one *cough*

The games are amazing. The only thing I don't like is all the attachments you need.

This is such a tough question, but as someone that grew up with an NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis. I'd have to say the SNES. There are so many great games on the console, one of the best Mario games (Super Mario World) is on the console, I would spend hours and hours as a kid playing it.

But then there is the NES, it was my first ever home console, and I use to spend hours playing Super Mario Bros 3, or when one of my relatives would visit, he would bring a big box of NES games, and I would play The Legend of Zelda, Ironsword: Wizards and Warriors II, Ghosts N Goblins, Contra, and many other amazing games.

Then there is the Sega Genesis, all the awesome Sonic games, Altered Beast, Mick And Mack Global Gladiators, Battletoads and Double Dragon, Street Fighter II, and so on.

It's a tough choice, but I will still say the SNES.

I suppose nowadays, the gamecube is retro, so I'll have to say the gamecube due to the sheer amount of quality games that it got.
Before that though, it was the N64 for pretty much the same reason.

The Nintendo 64 is my baby. I love it so much. My fond memories of Turok 2: The Seeds of Evil and Conker's Bad Fur Day.

I played these two games when I was young to death. I seriously love those two games to death as well. Be right back, I'm going to go kiss my lovely Nintendo 64.

I honestly think SNES and PS1 are tied for me.

I had more games for the PS1 when I was small, so that has to be factored in...but I was able to buy older SNES games I'd missed out on the first time around when I first had the system around the same time, so they both got equal playing time.

Now, of course, my 22(?) year old SNES is FINALLY dead, and I play all of my SNES games (yes I still have them, yes they still work, yes I have replaced the batteries in the cartridges) on this amazing handheld called a Retroduo Portable. I love this thing.  I play my PS1 games on either the PS2 or PS3, whichever one I have on at the time, and the games STILL get about the same amount of love and play-time.

I'm still looking for Breath of Fire and Breath of Fire II for the SNES, though. I'd rather play the real thing than just the roms. *sigh* One day.

Dude...the NES! Not only is it my favorite retro console, but it still is my favorite console EVER ( with my PS3 right behind it ). I love it so much that every once in a while, I still actually play games on the actual console. Well, technically its not the actual console because my NES finally decided to die out on me a couple years ago ( RIP 1990 - 2013 ). 23 years of outstanding service, let me tell you. I play my NES games on a different console that allows it, and your TV will never "blue screen." I can't think of the name of it right now, as I'm at work typing this XD

Anyways, the NES will always be #1 in my mind. Here's my personal ranking of the top 5 retro game consoles that I've played:

1. NES
2. PS1
3. N64
4. SNES
5. Sega Genesis

NOTE: It was very difficult to decide who was #2 between the PS1 and N64. I liked the quality of the PS1, but the N64 had better games. Tough call...

Hmm... I would say the PlayStation ( since I am a huge fanatic ) but I think I am going with the Nintendo 64. Naturally, the N64 was introduced before the PS1 and even though they had some of the same games I think that it was more fun playing on N64. It seemed more family friendly to me ( since I was younger at the time anyway ) with all those classic Mario and Zelda games.

Playing on the N64 was an experience that I will forever cherish!

The nintendo 64 is pretty fun. Although the only retro consoles i have are a playstation, gamecube, gba, gbc, and n64. And I haven't used the playstation or gamecube in years. I have a lot of fun games on the nintendo 64, and that's why I like it so much. The analog stick is kinda badly placed, though...
