Hello, everyone! You may notice that my custom title is now "Video Game Theorist Trainee". That's right, I'm doing my best to come up with my own video game theories, and for the first time ever, I've actually made one up instead of elaborating on already-existing ones! Be warned, however, that this could have already been theorized, and it isn't all that complicated - to people who think a lot, it may even be considered obvious, but I never thought about it until now (perhaps because the last time I did was when I was around nine years old)... Anyhow, without further ado, let me begin!
As the title suggests, today's theory of mine is that Mewtwo (remember, this theory only discusses the anime, not the games or manga) is only alive because of Amber, also referred to as Ambertwo.
I re-watched The Uncut Story of Mewtwo's Origin earlier today because my twin sister and I decided we needed a good cry, and that's what caused me to think of this. All evidence supporting this theory are going to be taken from that short.
I am briefly going to go over the main points for people who haven't watched it already. Basically, a scientist called Dr. Fuji decided to help Team Rocket create a clone of Mew so that Giovanni could, in turn, fund the project and help him restore life to his deceased daughter, Amber, who resided within an enclosed light. He, along with his colleagues, attempted to bring life to the clones they created - Charmandertwo, a clone of Charmander, Squirtletwo, a clone of Squirtle, Bulbasaurtwo, a clone of Bulbasaur, and Mewtwo, a clone of Mew. They also tried to revive his daughter Amber, whose essence lived on within a light, and called her Ambertwo throughout the entire project. Young Ambertwo, Mewtwo, Charmandertwo, Squirtletwo, and Bulbasaurtwo communicated with each other via telepathy, and they soon became friends, visiting all sorts of places within their 'shared dream', like Amber's "remember place". Amber, or Ambertwo, taught Mewtwo about basic things like people, Pokemon, the wind, and how the sun keeps everyone warm, and nighttime is when the sun says "goodnight, see you tomorrow". Sadly, the clones of Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur began to fade and evaporate into blue light, indicating that their brain waves were not strong enough to keep them alive. Soon after, Amber herself also began to fade, distressing her father, Dr. Fuji, as he and the pitiful scientists watched her brain waves get weaker and weaker on the computer. Meanwhile in their own little 'mind world', Mewtwo and Amber shared a sad goodbye, but before she died, Amber reminded Mewtwo not to cry, and that he should be happy because he is alive, and "life is wonderful".
So, with the exception of Mewtwo, every clone died due to having weak brain waves. According to what was shown on the screens prior to all of their deaths, Mewtwo's brain waves were exactly the same as those of his unfortunate friends, making it evident that he, too, would have died soon after. Amber's death, however, seemed to shock little, big-eyed Mewtwo so much that he began to cry for the first time, and that sadness soon turned into anger, causing his brain waves to surge. His brain waves began to get so powerful that the scientists needed to inject a special serum to make him forget the incident so he would calm down. His memories of Amber seemed to disappear, but he thought to himself as he was growing up. "I remember someone... something... Life is wonderful. But why?" It's unclear whether he is still upset about it, but it would explain why he's such a d*** later in the series.
What are your thoughts on this, people? Do you guys also believe that Amber's death triggered Mewtwo's emotion, causing him to stay alive during the cloning process? If so, do you have any evidence supporting/denying it? Thank you for reading, and be sure to leave a reply down below so I can hear your thoughts on this! NintendoFanKimmy, out. Hello, everyone!
