A POKEMON EMERALD REVIEW by KEVINMONITOR
It's been more than 10 years since the Pokemon series was first found. What happened in those 10 years or longer? HUGE SUCCESS. I don't know about you, but Pokemon lately has been rocking. I think every game is a gem of it's own, even the Game Boy Color games still enjoy good ol' success like they did many years ago.
The Game Boy Advance games are no different. Been a few years, and they're still household names in Video Gaming. But no more chit-chat, let's go to reviewing POKEMON EMERALD - A gem that is just as shiny as the version name.
GRAPHICS : 8
The graphics were really genuine, as many, many more graphic sprites and characters were included due to the extension of the game's depth. Needless to say, the quality never goes down, but instead it goes to whole new levels with whole new styles. In this game, the Pokemon sprites actually are ANIMATED. Yes - the animated sprites have come back after their debut in POKEMON CRYSTAL, and thus, make the game more lively. Nevertheless, every graphic image in this game is programmed with perfection.
SOUND : 8
Just like the graphics. More music and sound effects have been added due to new features and extensions, and are very rich. Some music pieces are really soothing yet jolly like the Pokemon Center music, and some pieces make us feel competitive and more powerful than before. The game's music are motivators, and even though most of them are the same as Ruby/Sapphire, I can't really give a lower rating. It's just THAT good.
ADDICTIVENESS : 10
Don't leave just yet after you defeated the Champion, will ya? Seriously, expect yourself to be playing this game A LOT of times. In fact, this game's depth just makes you want to come for more. And today, there are many player-made challenges, such as Nuzlocke or Egglocke, ... and this just brings more potential to this game, and possibly ALL others. So be ready to spend hours and hours into this game, because this is extremely addictive and deserves no lower score.
STORY : 9
You know the gist, you travel through places, catch and fight Pokemon, battle trainers and gym leaders then go to the League and become champion. Correct? WRONG ANSWER. It's not just that simple. Ruby has Groudon and Team Magma, Sapphire has Kyogre and Team Aqua. This game? ALL of them. You fight both team Magma and Aqua, and then there's the "Legendary Weather Trio", with awesome Rayquaza(as you see on the cover there!). Not that, you can catch them. A legendary trio that controls weather might be in YOUR control, you know! So it's not just becoming the champion. It's also fighting the bad side and ending legendary conflicts. So be ready to see an extending plot all the way through the game.
DEPTH : 10
You know why? If not, I'll just get to it and tell you: It's absolutely normal to spend 90+ hours, or even 100+ hours on this game. Ruby and Sapphire can't beat this, as Emerald totally flies up to the top and conquers with big-crazy extensions. Battle Tower in Ruby and Sapphire? Nope. Emerald has a WHOLE Battle Frontier that can be accessed after completing the game. Furthermore, you can catch many legendaries, unlock new caves, rematch with gym leaders, and MUCH MORE game content! So be ready, you're traveling deep into the Hoenn Region, one way or another.
DIFFICULTY : 7
The difficulty was just enough to pack a lot of fun in this GBA game. It wasn't a piece of cake, but it wasn't hard as hell. It was just enough to pack a challenge but yet bring a lot of fun. The game gets harder as you go deeper and further but not to the edge of difficulty, and no matter where you go, there's always a fitting challenge or a grassy patch waiting for you! So no worries, you'll be sweating a little, but you definitely won't be pulling your hair out on this entertaining, enjoyable game!
OVERALL : 9.5
POKEMON EMERALD is still enjoying success these days, and it deserves to be. This is absolutely a Game Boy Advance masterpiece in every way, every Pokemon fan should know and play this game, either digital or in real life. The world of Pokemon will definitely improve, and will never disappoint fans. I hope it will always be like this.
Thank you for reading my review. This is my fourth review, and I want honest critiques to improve my future reviews in the future.
~ A dear Pokemon fan, Kevin.
PS ; Oh my god Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is coming out soon I hope y'all are excited as me!!
