Out of the 3 Johto starters which one is your favorite? Mine is Cyndaquil because honestly it's the only one that I really like using. Totodile is okay but I'd much rather have a Gyarados in my party and I don't use chikorita because I rarely ever use grass type starters.

I always like Totodile the best.He had a nice design and learns some pretty useful moves like bite. Not to mention Feraligatr looks like Godzilla.

My first starter I believe was totodile just because he was cute and when you level him up, he grows into a very vicious Pokémon. Plus I think watching Pokémon influenced me on choosing my first starter.

My favorite was Cyndaquil. I love fire types plus Typlosion is really cool looking. Whenever I play Pokémon Gold, I'd always pick either Cyndaquil or Totodile.

Cyndaquil is my favorite Johto starter!
It starts off as cute and strong then turns into a pretty awesome Pokemon as it evolves.

Nobody seems to favor Chikorita as their favorite Johto starter so far. Poor Chikorita.

ghostfishy : I can see why chikorita hasn't had any votes. It's certainly not the worst grass type starter but at the same time Cyndaquil and Totodile are so much better. (My least favorite grass type starter is Turtwig btw)

I think I would have to say my favorite Johto starter is Cyndaquil. Totodile is pretty good, too because he has scratch and not tackle. Scratch won't miss unless an accuracy move is used on it. I always hated it when I started a new game and I was either using Cyndaquil or Chikorita, trying to level it up and tackle missed sometimes. It really made me mad because I don't have any patience XD

Anyways, I have also only got 2 Pokemon to level 100. I remember the first one I got was Dewgong and the second was Typhlosion. Just another reason why Cyndaquil is my favorite starter period. And I would definitely NOT pick Chikorita unless I wanted a real challenge. I don't really use grass types at all, anyway.

For this region I will go with Totodile. He was my favorite starter there and I believe this was the only place where I never chose a different Pokemon as a starter. I did get the others, but not to start the game.

I like Cyndaquil based on its looks, but I would rather use a Totodile/Feraligatr in a battle. It's hard to choose between those two!

I'd say Cyndaquil, because of its moveset and how it goes with its good speed and great special attack power. After using all three starters at different times (Totodile was my 1st choice ever and really came in handy vs Lance because of Ice Punch/Ice Beam) I realized it was most beneficial to use Cyndaquil, it evolves to the 2nd stage the fastest even if it reaches it's final form slower than the other two, and once you reach Goldenrod City you can go nuts teaching it new moves that can help. Finally, when it evolves into Typhlosion you can teach it Earthquake(attack power is good enough to make some difference) and Thunderpunch, making it capable of overcoming most of its weaknesses much more easily in a pinch than just Quilava with Dig and you can use Sunny day to improve Flamethrower(most likely the fire move you end up with rather than Fire Blast because of accuracy and PP) and cut the power of water-type attacks all at once. Your starter is often times your strongest Pokémon during the story play-through, might as well make it capable of handling pretty much anything. Totodile"s final form: Feraligatr, offers the same advantages in terms of moveset, but it's stats don't quite match what it needs as a water type compared to Cyndaquil/Typhlosion.

I like cyndaquil too. It is my favorite starter in johto region and a good choice of pokemon too. Because it is best when in fighting the johto elite four and for me a better stats in battle when it evolved into typhlosion which is a strong pokemon with a strong moves that will help you to win in every battle. And of all starters in johto it is the cutest pokemon ( I think ).

Tododile is the one I always pick. Many reasons. You can use him against all the first three gym leaders' Pokémon without a single super effective attack being able to land against him, unlike Cyndaquil and Chikorita. His Scratch is 100% accurate, unlike Tackle. My rival's Pokémon becomes Bayleef, which is usually pretty easy for me to battle against.

If fully evolved right away, he doesn't learn his best moves much later. I can have a level 30 Feraligatr that will learn Hydro Pump a mere 6 levels later at level 56.

Water type tends to be very useful. Not just for Surfing. If I have Tododile, other water types can be caught later at higher levels while I Surf around on him and defeat fire, ground and rock types easily. Water type has only two not very commonly used weaknesses(Grass and Electric). Fire and Grass have at least 3 weaknesses each. Fire: 3  Grass: 5

When I first played Pokémon Silver, I picked Chikorita and I have never picked it again.

They are all cute, so it is not really a factor.

Totodile is my absolute favourite Johto starter. I don't like using most fire types, and while I usually like grass starters, Totodile is just better offensively than Chikorita. On a sidenote, I'm pretty sure this is the only region where I have never used a grass type.
