Today my parents told me that In September, I would be a foreign exchange student, and I was given 5 choices. I can't really decide which one I want, so I want you to tell me which country I should go to, and why.

If I were you, I would go to England. I don't know why, but I always was fascinated by England and their culture in the country. It can give you a sense of enlightenment and it can be a really cool trip as well. But that's me.

bostonblokhed1 : Well, given the countries you have to choose from, if I were in your shoes I would probably go with France, and I would go with my wife. I heard France is an absolutely beautiful country. Of course, the first place I would visit is Paris. That's really all I want to see from France, actually. It sounds romantic from the people I know that have been there, and its really pretty at night.

I wish one of your countries to choose from was Norway. I have only been once for a couple weeks, and I learned two things about it. Its really cold (it was a lot colder than I expected), and everybody is really friendly. I recently heard Norway is the "happiest country on the planet." Their economy is in the best shape, too.

Sorry to get a little off track there, but have fun wherever you go.

bostonblokhed1 :
What were the choices?

MattyIce :
Paris is an utter disappointment. If you go to France, go somewhere else. Bordeaux, Brittany, the south is meant to be beautiful.
Paris is a city full of buildings, rude, exceptionally unhappy people, terrible drivers, a complete lack of any parks or green spaces, and terrible prices. Most over rated city I have ever been to. And i've been twice. It doesn't get better.

Edit-Scandinvia in general is meant to be Brilliant, I'd love to visit those nations.

pacman1755 :
Depends where you go in England. London is ok for a while but I wouldn't want to live there. Far too cramped, noisy, dirty, and exceptionally, exceptionally expensive.
City's like oxford, Cambridge and york are all nice, but also, very expensive. The midlands are the best part of England, or the south west, because the southeast of England is way too populous.

Woops, I was looking at it in reply mode so it never showed up, my bad.
Do you know what region you'd be going to?
Ireland is pretty much the same as Scotland but poorer. That being said there are some nice areas. That could be decent.
France, if its paris, dont, honestly.
Italy I want to go to. The north is very wealthy and expensive, the south poor and cheap. All beautifull though.
The water quality is poor according to my italian friend though, so I hope you like bottked water (maybe thats only in milan though).
Sweden would be my favourite. The swedes are awesome. Friendly, wealthy, beautifull, great services, most speak good english, im actually jealous I never got that chance :/ .

You should definitely go to Sweden! I'm going to move there in a month so I better pack up. The reason why I say Sweden is because they've got the fastest Internet and it's just beautiful there. Right now, I'm in Canada and half my house is empty because to the move to Sweden. You should definitely move to Sweden. I would recommend it.

I would definitely go to Italy. Without a doubt. It is beautiful there, the weather is nice, there is TONS of history there, the architecture is amazing, and (most importantly) the food is fantastic! All five choices are cool though. It sounds like it will be a really cool experience, I hope you enjoy it!

Toss up between England and Sweden. My mom went to Sweden a few years ago and spent time with a family over there. Thing is, her friend's sister was affiliated with some family over there, so my mom got to go. She mainly noted how scenic and beautiful it was, so that is the biggest plus.

England is the second choice because of the things there. In my opinion, having a chance to experience English lifestyles, activities, hangouts, nightlife (if that's your thing), and everything else sounds like a very exceptional opportunity. If I had the chance to go to England, those are just 4 of the things I'd look into.

But yeah, those are my top two, although I'm leaning towards England.

I believe that you should go to Sweden. Its a lovely country and there are plenty of fine people there. Plus, you get to learn a completely new language.
