Now this is a Pokémon game. Sadly Game Freak had really no hand in making it. It was all third party. So without farther ado let's begin.

Graphics: 10

This was the first Role-Play style 3D Pokémon game. There were other 3D Pokémon games because of Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Stadium 2. But this was the first one with a real story. The graphics were ahead of it's time for Pokémon who just recently with the release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y got to 3D. It was amazing seeing all of my favorite Pokémon in 3D. And some of the animations for winning and defeated trainers and fainting Pokémon are just hilarious.

Sound: 10

I have always loved Pokémon music. It has always had a way of moving me. And this game was no exception. All of the soundtracks were amazing from the towns and cities to the battles and evil themes. All of it was a big part of what made this game memorable.

Addictiveness: 10

While as a game it may not have to high of a replay value for most, I would in a heartbeat. I find it interesting that it had a story of higher quality then even Game Freak put out. And while there are some downsides to the game, I would still play it over and over.

Story: 10

This was the part I was waiting for. The story was some of the best work ever in a Pokémon game. It gave a dark side to Pokémon even darker then lavender town. Your character had previously had ties to evil and as such is not your typical hero. After betraying his own friends he then joins a girl and takes his old allies down as he strives to snatch all the shadow Pokémon and free them from the enemy's evil grasp. Talk about a turnabout! Plus because of this you are not a little 10 year old getting your first Pokémon. Your Pokémon start in the twenty's and are already evolved Pokémon in the form of Espeon and Umbreon.

Depth: 9

All games have their strengths and weaknesses. And one of this games weaknesses is the lack of choice when it comes to the Pokémon you can catch. Being that you can only catch shadow Pokémon and not normal Pokémon limits you a lot when trying to make a team that can beat the game. With little variety in the types you can use it makes it hard to have a balanced team. And leveling up your team is a pain too. The best place is Mt. Battle home of a100 trainers. Strong trainers at that. And it's no easy feat to beat. I still have yet to beat the whole place.

Difficulty: 7

Now while some parts that are challenging, namely the final battle and Mt. Battle. But overall it's more or less the same as any other Pokémon game. Fun and engaging but way too easy for experienced players. Once you master type match-ups and status problems and raising a balanced team most Pokémon games become so ridiculously easy that at times they can seem very tedious.

Overall: 9.9

I love so much about this game and even the bad areas of the game are manageable due to the shear love I have for the franchise. This game did many things right like a more mature story that was still kid friendly and having 3D graphics and simply building upon the already mountainous array of great music that Pokémon has to offer. I can see a lot of potential in this style of Pokémon game and I wish they would make another one. If only Game Freak would see some of the monumental ideas the people who created this game had and could incorporate them in to the main series games or even into a spin-off. But that does not seem to be on the horizon for us Pokémon fans. Until next time! Have a great day and thank you for reading.

I have played Pokémon Colosseum and I never noticed that Game Freak didn't have any part in making this. You probably should have mentioned that the third party was Genius Sonority for people like me that had no clue. The story section could have used some more details to explain the plot.

Like how the main character had to uncover the disastrous plan of the secret organization, Cipher. You also didn't mention how his partner is able to see the shadow Pokémon while the main character could not. Taking down Cipher would have been impossible without her aid and so on. Little details like that can help make your review better.

Other than that your review is good to go.

I don't normally play Pokemon Colosseum, but it is fun when I do pick it up. Also, good job on the review! A little shorter than usual, but it's still drives the point home. Well done!
