I have recieved and given a ton of gifts over the years, but only a handful of them really meant a lot. When I graduated high school, my agency gave me an amazing tablet as a gift and I loved it. It was the first tablet I ever had and I was always on it. It really meant a lot to me, but after a couple months, I decided to give it to my friend Red and one day we met at the library and I gave it to him without him knowing that I was going to give it.

That was one gift that meant a lot, both recieving, and giving,

WHat are some things that you have given before?

A whole tablet?  Wow... that's amazing!  I need to go see about attending whatever agency that is!

I tease.

Usually, the gifts that mean the most to me aren't expensive at all.  They simply have lots of thought and meaning behind them.  For example, when I first moved out of the house, my mom gave me her recipe for tea. It was a staple of our household that I knew she was going to miss, and I thought it was just awesome that she did that for me, so that I could always taste her tea.

One time my brother got me a scalp massager. That may seem like a silly idea for a "great gift," but have you ever felt one?

zanderlex : It doesn't damage it. Do you really think this would damage your fabulous hair?

I gotta say the greatest gift I've ever received was my DS Lite with Pokémon Pearl version. One screen hinge is busted on it, but I still got it. That DS Lite was my real first gaming device of my own. I mean I've played on the family PC and sisters SNES, but up until then, I never had a video game that I owned. I was so happy that I immediately started playing it. I hurt my neck I played it so much (not even joking, don't have your neck pointed down for three hours a day). I am half proud half ashamed that I easily spent over a thousand hours of my life on that now outdated console.

TheFadedWarrior :

Oh my gosh, those things! I remember that my friend used that on me when I asked what it was for. I never felt so violated in my life.

---

As for the thread, I recently gave my friend this book for her birthday. I felt really bad because I actually forgot about it and didn't have time to get her a gift. So I took one of my old books that I wouldn't miss and wrapped it up, albeit my wrapping skills aren't that great.

Anyways, she really loved the present. I know she always wanted to get into the habit of reading, but there weren't any books that really caught her attention. So I figured that the book I gave her was perfect because it's something the both of us are interested in.

In a way, that book was something special to me because it was my "first" book of that type. I didn't really like the story much, however. So I'm glad I was able to put it to good use and pass it down to my friend.

I can't really afford to give away any "great" gifts, nor am I one for holding anything close to me that anyone else I gift it to would consider it "great", so I do not really give "great" gifts, whether those gifts be expensive or sentimental. I have, however, received a couple "great" gifts. Last year I was gifted a laptop for X-mas, and a few years preceding this I was given a rather interesting gift for my birthday, a barbie doll. Much surprise in my eyes there was to be had that day.

Heheh, I still have this small magatama I received from my grandmother, when I had to undergo surgery at the hospital, back when I was 8. It was nothing to serious, but being the timid child I was, I was so frightened. She told me that if I put that in my pocket of my shirt, it will bring me luck. The operation went smoothly, and I always bring it with me when I have to play a concert or go on a stage.
