If you beat the first game (
Professor Layton and the curious village] and enjoyed it, you will defanitly love this one. For those of you who have never played these games i'll tell you what they are. Pure puzzle stradegy. In this game you will solve 150 puzzles. The puzzles can include jigsaw puzzles, mind games, mysterys, and any other catagory of puzzle you can think of. Mostly though you are helping people solve their problems. Another good thing about this game is that, when it was released in Japan, the US almost immediatly obtained a translated copy, so the wait was only a year and a half.
The game begins with a friend of yours opening a box called the "Elysan box" (I don't know if I spelled that right) and mysteryously dies. It's up to Professor Layton and his trusty sidekick Luke to figure out how he died, and in the mean time help the funny looking townsfolk with their troubles and everyday problems. One aspect in this game that is different from the first, is you have to take care of a hamster like animal to get items later on in the game. As you may have expected (if you've played the game) the further you advance in the game, the harder the puzzles get. Luckaly, in every screen of the game, you can collect 3 coins, which you can use as hints in puzzles making the game easier in the harder stages. I didn't really use them, because, every puzzle provides you with pictocards if you complete a puzzle. Useing hints will give you less when you complete that puzzle. Again there are 150 puzzles to work with, although I did miss a few of the "hidden" puzzles. (can be obtained by clicking pictures and sich) Beating puzzles can also unlock minigames that don't really matter to the games plot. The game also includes movie-like cut scenes. This game has more of those then the first on another plus.
Gameplay9/10. Almost perfect. The puzzles where fun, the cutscenes where awsome as well, though I would have liked to see more, im not complaining because, the DS game cartridge can't hold that much with the cutscenes. But this game will keep you buisy and at the harder puzzles, probably give you a headache. The only reason I gave it a 9 is because of the hamster, it was just annoying. You explore a village and click on people to talk to them, they will give you puzzles, but thats pretty much it.
Graphics10/10. Perfect! The cutsenes where well drawn, if fact, they looked like a hollywood anime movie to me. The game is not 3d, it gives you a view as if you are Layton, as you wonder around the village. I think this game was brilliantly constructed.
Difficulty1/10-10/10. The game starts out easy with puzzles everyone can solve. But slowly, ever so slowly, the game gets harder.
Plot setup opinionThis game has a great and intencifiing plot. You always want to keep playing to see what happens next.
Ending RatingSeCrEt. Like I said, I will not give away any spoilers. If you want to know the end, and are sure, then PM me, and i'll tell you.
Overall RatingThis game gets an almost perfect 9.8/10.
This game will suck you in, it's almost a guarantee! I found this game well worth the money and hope you do 2.
