We all have our favorite video games, but which games do you believe are the best? 10 games, 10 placements. Which games are truly the greatest?

1. Persona 4: Golden - This game has managed to receive critical acclaim across the board, as well as sales that have prompted it to receive an upgraded port to the PS Vita. The game blends great storytelling, excellent characters, and an
entertaining and engaging battle-system that make good cause for the game to deserve first place.

2. The Last of Us - A game many are heralding as one of the best of the generation. The game showcases strong graphics, an engaging plot, and fun gameplay to create a truly great game. I would not say that it can overtake P4G, however. Aside from a single-player, the game boasts a 4 versus 4 online mode, filled with multiple different game modes.

3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Another excellent entry by Naughty Dog. This is arguably the best Uncharted game to date. Stellar graphics for its time, another great plot-line, dynamic characters, and frantic and fun gameplay in both singleplayer and multiplayer game modes qualifies this game for a spot in the top ten.

4. Infamous 2 - While the first Infamous brought the franchise to light, and shocked many people, the second game is where the franchise truly excels. The storyline is still amazing, and engaging, and the gameplay is as fun as ever. The open-world is a nice feature to have, and the game manages to accomplish this with flying colors.

5. Tales of Xillia - While the game is yet far from perfect, and the graphics are lacking, the gameplay has far improved from past Tales games. The upgraded battle system and spectacular story go to show the greatness of this game.

6. Destroy All Humans - Not often is one given the chance to kill humans mindlessly while commandeering an alien and his spaceship. While short, the game offered frantic and fun gameplay, and still managed to keep you entertained with a strong story, and likable characters (more or less).

7. Yakuza 4 - The series is barely given the light of day in the west, but it does have its merits. Some of the best storytelling, voice-acting, and cut-scenes to ever have come out of a series have been from Yakuza. The game has amazing story sequences, and the fighting is fast-paced.

8. Bioshock Infinite - The eeriness of past games has left the series, but the game still claims a spot in the top ten. While it has forgone creepiness, and has strayed from the path if its previous games, Bioshock Infinite has some of the best gameplay to date. The gameplay is fantastic, filled with lots of guns and explosions. The story is a compelling one, and you would be hard-pressed to find a superior.

9. Valkyria Chronicles - This game series brought something unique to the video game world. This strategy-action-shooter blends omniscient and 3rd person viewpoints to make for a rather thrilling game. The story is simply a bonus when tacked on to the already unique and fun gameplay.

10. Steins;Gate - Visual novels are often overlooked due to their inherently text-filled, and gameplay-lacking adventures. However, what Steins;Gate is lacking in gameplay, it more than makes up for it with characters that will shock and entertain, as well as a really unique story that uses time travel in a very unique way.

Well, there's my list, what's your top 10?

sop281 : You did a heck of a lot better with this then mine, you did a great job.

I agree with P4G being on the list, great game and deserves to be in a top 10 list. I also agree with having Uncharted as well, that was a great game.

Then that means you should call a mod to close your thread.....well in my opinion...and besides, there's no need for two threads of the same topic right?

Anyway here's my favorite top 10 games:
1- Dissidia Doudecim Final Fantasy 012 (PSP): This game....this game....I can't believe there is a game actually exists, it's just so amazing, not just because it's a fighting game with RPG elements, it feels competitive and well thought out.

2- Nethack (Varies on platforms): A rogue-like game with devilish difficulty that challenges even the best RPG players to survive it's unrelenting onslaught, and most of these best have failed to complete the task (even me!). Not only it is hard but it's also has a depth that puts most modern RPGs into shame, the game also has a sense great humor.

3- Ultimate Ghost 'n goblin (PSP): Remember the first game in this series? That's right! This game want to revive that game again! But not without making a few changes to it, now Arthur's armor take more than one hit to break AND whenever you die you respawn at the SPOT you died (but some areas might not allow that...), and a lot of tweaks that makes your nightmarish game into a surprisingly enjoyable experience despite the odds between you and the enemies.

4- Ninja: Shadow of Darkness (PS1): Ahhhh, the sweet smell of one of the finest PS1 games, it is a GREAT SHAME that almost nobody have ever heard of it. If you want an action/adventure/fighting/platform game, then you've just found you're target!

5- Wizardry: Tales of the forsaken lands (PS2): A game that have never seen the light of day in the US.....until 6 years later, people were begging the company to translate the sequel, but the company didn't see much profit from this so they refused it.....and now I hear there is some team that are trying to translate every wizardry game, including this one.....I just hope the team succeed in their task. If you want to know why, just play this game.

6- Super Castlevania 4 (SNES): When the developers put efforts in the game's execution, music, etc, this is what happens....a game that provides an experience that does not fade away even for years. And if you had a bad memory of this series, then fear not! This game is the easiest one in the series (not counting the RPG ones).

7- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1): Some people say....that this game is the best in the castlevania series, what I say is that if you played this game....then there is no need to play 50% of the action/RPG games in the world because this game pretty sums it all in one disc. If you do not believe me, then would you do believe if I tell you that had I played this game before the other castlevania RPGs and the action/RPG in iphone (which is over 1000 if not more), then I would have saved 10 months of my life time.

8- Demon's Souls (PS3): Yeah I know, people say to me why do you like Demon's Souls so much? it has less features than DS and DS 2, and it even has worse graphics. My answer to them is that Demon's Souls had a much better atmosphere, it also gives you a better adventurous feelings. But let's not forget that this game's bosses are entertaining (well, I don't know if they entertain you), unique and not as repetitive as DS 2.

9- FF 12: IZJS (PS2): I think many people know about FF 12, but do most of them know if there was a version of FF 12 called "International Zodiac Job System", nope...I doubt that. And what's new you say? well not much, except survival mode, easy mode (level 99), hard mode (no level up), Classes (finally...), Mist now has its own gauge (so you don't use ether to spam Quickening attacks), and a button that speeds up the game by x5. Does it sound good to you?

10- D&D: Temple of Elemental Evil: You know, probably the first RPGs out there were pen and paper, and one of these were D&D, then it evolved into board, but the problem was the game's pace was too slow.....so why not make a port to the computer? Sure let's do that.....however, only a few done that actually, and one of them spawned this game to us to give us the taste of that board game (in the board game, you level up till 30, but in this game....you level up till 10), it's crazy how deep the game is and to there that it has only a moderate amount of features from that board game, makes me want to buy the board version. Thankfully, there is a mod that extends the game's length, features and increases the level cap to 20!

Just a heads up, you are probably not going to agree with my list. I mainly only like Nintendo games and sports games, and my top 10 list will reflect that. Also, I will be doing a countdown starting at 10 and going down to 1 instead of the other way around.

10. Super Mario Strikers (GC) - Super Mario Strikers is a great game and is really fun to play, especially with friends. It is not a realistic game at all, and that is what makes it so fun. There are all sorts of power-ups and stuff, which makes the game even more entertaining.

9. Pokemon Crystal (GBC) - Pokemon Crystal is a great game. It is a fun Pokemon game with a good storyline and plenty to do. Even though it only adds 100 new Pokemon, it is still one of my favorite games solely because you get to fight Red in the end.

8. Need For Speed: Most Wanted (2012) (PS3) - This game makes my top 10 list because you can do whatever you want. There are no restrictions as to where you can go or what you have to do. There are plenty of races for you to participate in if you want to, or you can just drive around town, or try to escape from cops. I like this game because what you do is entirely up to you.

7. NHL 14 (PS3) - EA is a terrible company, and this game definitely has it's weak points, but NHL 14 still makes my top 10 list. It is loads of fun to play, and Hockey Ultimate Team is insanely addicting. As much as EA screws it up, this game is still really fun in my opinion.

6. MLB 14: The Show (PS3) - Easily the best sports video game ever. MLB The Show is a step above. Best graphics I have ever seen, extremely realistic gameplay, everything is just great. Even the smallest things were paid attention to in the development of this game. No doubt this deserves to be number 6, maybe even higher.

5. Mario Superstar Baseball (GC) - Mario Superstar Baseball combines two of my favorite things - sports games and Nintendo games. While the sequel for the Wii was somewhat disappointing, Mario Superstar Baseball for the GameCube is a great game. It is not very realistic, much like Super Mario Strikers, but it is fun to play, especially with other people.

4. Pokemon Leaf Green (GBA) - Pokemon Leaf Green is one my favorite Pokemon games. I didn't have it as a young kid, but I managed to get it from Game Stop when I was like 11 or so. I fell in love with it. It barely took me any time at all to beat the game, but it was very entertaining.

3. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (GBA) - When I had to get my tonsils and adenoids removed in 2nd grade, my mom bought me Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team to keep me busy while I healed. I am so glad that she did. This game is tons of fun, and has enough to do to keep you entertained for a long time.

2. Pokemon Ruby (GBA) - Pokemon Ruby is easily the game that I have invested the most time into. I used to play it non-stop. It was my life for a good 4 years. It is a great game. There is a good storyline, a decent amount of stuff to do, pretty good graphics, and good trumpet-filled music. Playing this game brings back so many memories.

1. Super Smash Bros Melee (GC) - And that brings us to number one. Super Smash Bros Melee. The best game to play with your friends in the history of video games. I am going to Maryland in August with my family and I am bringing my GameCube just so that me and my cousins can play this game together. They still love it. And they are 22 and 26. Super Smash Bros Melee is my favorite game of all time, and is number one on my top ten list.

I absolutely adore Persona 4, Tales Of Xillia and Uncharted. However I prefer Uncharted 3 out or the trilogy. In my opinion I think the story telling and character development are some of the best aspects of Persona 4. The only modern day RPG I really prefer over Person 4 would just happen to be Tales Of Xillia

Tales of Xillia has some of the perfect aspects for an RPG. It has good characters, good story and an enjoyable gameplay. It's also a fairly large game so you always have something to do other than the main quest.

The Uncharted trilogy is my favourite franchise on PS3. I prefer Uncharted 3 over Uncharted 2 but both are marvels of games. The story is definitely one of the best aspects of the game. The puzzles also provide a break from constant straight forward shooting. I also enjoy the adventure aspect of it as well. It helps that the graphics are gorgeous.

This would probably be my top 10. Although I find top 10 lists impossible because they change almost all the time

-------

1) Golden Sun - Great characters, great story and amazing graphics for a GBA game. It was something else and is my favourite RPG to date.

2) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - This game is immensely large. Every time I play it I end up finding something new to do. It's practically impossible to have nothing to do in this game. The graphics may not be fantastic but that's not all there is to a game and Skyrim excels in almost everything else. There are lots of bugs but you have to expect that from a game this large.

3) Payday 2 - A great co-op game to play with friends. It provide a challenge and is addicting to play. Although it's a game with any real story or goal; it does provide you with a lot of content to try out and it's a lot of fun to just play with other people.

4) Uncharted 3 - I've already explained why I like this game before. My favourite part of the game would probably have to be the horseback mission in the desert.

5) Kingdom Hearts 2 - Most definitely the best game in the franchise. Great characters and fantastic gameplay. It's incredibly fun and the story is great. The fact that there are Disney characters draws people away from the whole franchise thinking it's too childish. However it has an amazing story to it and pulls on your heart strings at times.

6) Minecraft - I never actually play normal Minecraft anymore. I just love playing all the mini games like survival games, spleef, tnt run etc. It's twice has fun when you play it with friends. From time to time I do play survival though.

7) Persona 4 - Once again I've already explained why I love this game. It's an absolute marvel among a lot of games.

8) Batman Arkham City - I love Batman and am a huge fan of the games. I'm really glad they didn't go soft and make the game all colourful to appeal to the kids. This game was dark and thrilling just the way it should be. The gadgets and fighting style was implemented perfectly.

9) Tales Of Xillia - Already explained. There aren't a lot of good JRPG's out there any more but this game did everything right.

10) Injustice: Gods Among Us - I was a little unsure about putting this on my list but it's a perfect fighting game and actually has a good story line on the story mode to it as well. I'm a huge comic book fan and I really did enjoy this game. Even my dad enjoyed it...

Even my dad enjoyed it...

saldek : That's a good list man, so I decided to give it my last like for today.

I don't know any of these games except for Steins;Gate since you told me about this.

Here is my top 10:

1) New Super Mario Bros. This is my first DS game I got and I have the most memories of this game. I still play it now and then and I liked this game even before I bought it since I watched a walkthrough of the game before I got it. That was worth it as I knew a lot about the game when I got it and it made it even more exciting. It's also very funny to play the battle mode against other players, where you have to defeat each others by getting the most stars.

2) Plants vs Zombies 2. This game is very new compared to the other games in this list but I love it. I've been playing it for hours and it never bores me. The musics get stuck in my head and I like to listen them on Youtube now and then. It's very funny, challenging and a great game.

3) Pokémon Crystal. This is the only Pokémon game where I managed to keep playing until I beat the Elite Four (although I'm close at the moment with Platinum as I'm training my Pokémon). I like Johto very much, gen II introduced great Pokémon and I love the gym leaders. This is also the only game where you can revisit Kanto which was awesome.

4) Wario Land 4. Wario games are always very good. Wario his fighting style is very different compared to Mario but you can see many things back from Mario in this game, that's why I like it so much. The levels were simply said the best thing as they were differently themed. For example, the mechanical world had a factory level, a junk yard level, a freezer level and a pinball level. All four were equally cool, the factory was hard to progress with all kinds of weird machines, the junk yard had many secret passages, the freezer was challenging with slippery slopes and ice balls, the pinball level was challenging as you had to pick up balls and you had to throw them in tiny boxes.

5) Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I love Mario RPG's, that's why I put three of them in my list. This was the first one I played and I liked it so much since it took place outside the Mushroom Kingdom, in the Beanbean Kingdom. I never completed it but I still like to play it as it's a very creative game.

6) Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. This was the third game I played. I haven't completed it as well but I spent hours on it, battling against bosses, trying to get highscores for clothing, discovering secrets and drilling for beans. It was a great game.

7) Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. This was the second game I played and unlike the others, I completed this one! I dunno why though. I spent many hours on this as well and it was worth it, the adventure was very interesting.

8) Super Mario 3D Land. A great platformer as not many platformers of Mario have been in 3D so far. For a 3DS game it was surprisingly big and very challenging. The last level was insanely hard but I managed to beat it and I love that they remade some of the earlier levels into more challenging levels which come later on in the game.

9) Shantae: Risky's Revenge. Not a Mario game? Well, I played this game as I saw it in the DSI store and I was wondering why it cost 1200 points instead of 800. I did some research (Wikipedia) and I saw there was a GBC game as well. I played it and I loved so I decided to buy this one as well. Even though it's not very long it is said to be one of the best DS games and even the best DSIware game. It was a great game, cool music, amazing graphics, inside jokes, tough bosses, sidequests and many other things. It's a stunning game and I can't wait for Pirate's Curse, its sequel, to come out.

10) Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Another Mario RPG. I have finished this one as well and the first time I tried it I found it too weird. But I kept reminding it and decided to try it once later on. And that was smart of me as I spent many hours on it. I got every item, completed the whole game and it was very funny. Instead of a normal 3D world it was a world where you walk diagonally and although that can be difficult it's also very interesting. This game also had great musics.

That is my top 10 but you may be wondering: Why no Inazuma Eleven?

That is because although I like the games and have spent many hours on them I have never liked them as much as these games. They were interesting, challenging and fun to play but these 10 were simply the best for me.

tgags123 : that's ok, all opinion are welcomed.....and I like your list from 1-4, and No. 8....that game was interesting and amusing.

Blubcreator : Damn, how could I forget Kingdom Hearts! (great list btw, I've played most of them), and I would like to know how do you find Golden sun more enjoyable than skyrim (I'm not trying to complain here or anything, just would like to know the answer.

juuldude : Thanks man, glad you liked....and btw, I've played half of these games on the list, ganna try these other half then.

zanderlex : Contest? What contest?

saldek : Really? Which of them have you played then? I guess you mean the Mario games. Plants vs Zombies 2 is a mobile phone game and Risky's Revenge is DSIware but all others can be played on Vizzed or on the Nintendo (3)DS.

saldek : Mainly nostalgia I suppose. The story I found much better than Skyrim (even though Skyrim's story is great). I got to know the characters much more and actually got engaged in the game more.

The list wasn't in any particular order anyways but Skyrim and Golden Sun are bot some of my facourite games. I love RPG's.

juuldude : it's: "New Super Mario Bros." (that game was fun), "Pokémon Crystal", "Wario Land 4", "Shantae: Risky's Revenge", "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars" (haven't played it a lot tho). I think I'll try Super mario 3D land, it's exactly like super mario land right?

Blubcreator : Can't disagree with that, somehow I find stories in old RPG games better than skyrim...and I keep seeing some reviews stating that the plot is 10/10, where I say to myself: "either I didn't get the stroy well, or I didn't do enough quests".

Btw, what's with my name? it seems inclined don't ya think? and what does that means?

Allot of people may not agree with me but this is my list of the top ten video games of all time that I have played so far.

1)First up is the best game I ever played King's Field for ps1. allot of people never heard of this game and they are missing out on the best first person role-playing game ever made mostly because of the Elder Scrolls series but I find this game better then them.

2)This is the second best game of all time from one of the most popularly video game franchises in the world it is Final Fantasy 7 for the ps1 it is by far the best Final Fantasy game in the series and ever thing about this game was amazing great characters great story and one of the baddest villains in gaming history.

3)Next is King's Field The Ancient City a first person role-playing for the ps2.  this game for me was the best ps2 game I ever played the graphic for this game is the best for any other ps2 game ever made you could swear you were inside the game yourself . the story and gameplay was just amazing.

4) Next up is is game Resident Evil 4 for the ps2.  This was by far the best Resident Evil of the series. The story, graphics and gameplay were better then all the Resident Evil games and most of the other games at the time.

5) Next one is Dark Souls for the Xbox 360 I put over 200 hours into this game and it is hand down the hardest game I ever played but no matter how many times I died I did not want to stop playing it .

6) Darkwatch for the ps2 The  first person shooter  that beats all others.  Everything about this game was made right great and who don't want to play a vampire.

7) The next one on my list is Devil May Cry 3 for the ps2 this for me is the best Devil May Cry of the series great graphics, story and don't forget the best video game character that you can control I mine who don't like Dante.

8) For my next one I had to go with Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey for the ds as it is one of three from the series I got to play yet and the best one so far It is first person and turned base and you have choices and monster to fight with there may be better ones but I haven't played them yet.

9) Next Doom 64 for the n64. For me this is one of the best first person shooter that I ever played you got blood big guns and great graphics what else do you need in a first person shooter.

10) And finally Final Fantasy 2 for the snes. This had to make the list as it is one of my favorite and the very first game I ever played and you can't beat your first favorite.

Ok that was my list my the top ten games of all time.

What’s my top ten games list? It’s hard to choose just ten games and order them; there are just so many good games!

1* Croc: Legend of the Gobbos PC ver..
This is a game from the early 2000s (although I could be wrong) that was released on the PSX, Sega Saturn, and PC. The game is a platformer, which is a genre I generally dislike but for some reason tolerate in this game. Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was one of the first PC games I played and is still fun to play every once in a while. Granted this game has its flaws and glitches, so many graphical glitches (although it may just be my disc), but if you’re looking for a nonsensical platformer this would be recommend by me.

2* Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone PC ver..
First game I was able to complete in less than five hours, and one of the only ones I know were every hidden location/item is. Controls are simple and easy, they delivered the creepy factor in the right levels (potions class, night library, etc.), and the gameplay was actually fun (unlike the fourth Harry Potter PC game IMO).

3* Pokémon Fire Red Version.
What can I say about this game? I’m sure everyone here has played it or a hack using its ROM so they know the sprite, music, level, etc. quality.

4* TES IV: Oblivion.
There is just so much game content present. The Shivering Isles DLC is what got Oblivion up here instead of Skyrim. I loved the game before I explored this DLC, but once I stepped through the Gates of Madness and into the Mad Gods realm I loved it even more. Inconsistency in the landscape, eccentric character personalities, and magnificently odd quests are what I love about it. One sec, gotta get the spoon for Big Head and a sweat roll for Fimmion.

5* Borderlands 2 PS3 ver..
Favorite shooter game hands down. Where else can I summon a death robot, go ham with two guns, or digistruct a mini-turret or two all to help me kill a business tyrant/d*******g (whichever you prefer)? Love the character depth and comic feel of the game. Not to serious, yet the plot is actually serious if you pay attention to it.

6* League of Legends.
This is a MOBA game that I play almost every day. Communities a bit toxic sometimes, but I still love playing it. Love it when I can help my teammates by giving them a few kills or going neck deep to get a kill for myself.

7* Trauma Center: Under The Knife 2.
As the op said visual novels are often overlooked due to their lack of gameplay and ability to walk around levels, stuff like that. If it was still in production I would recommend getting it.

8* Super Metriod.
One of the best Metriod games made and also the one with the murder beam glitch. If you haven’t played it I strongly suggest you do. Great game for SNES.

9* Kingdom Hearts: 358/2.
Such a wonderful game, good story, level design, and combat system. Loved everything about the game, actually had everything except Sora unlocked on my first save file.

10* Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.
Love how there was two versions of each level and how you saw the story from both Sora and Riku’s perspective. Smooth combat, exciting ability’s, and a great story make it one of my top ten.

Not in any particular order, but here are my favorite games.

I can't put them in order. These are my favorites, but not simply the most fun to play, but also how well crafted I though there were. But it's also not as "objective" list, otherwise FF7 and other fantastic games would of been in there, this list is a mixture of both how I FELT playing the game, and what I THOUGHT of the game. For example, I enjoyed playing SSB brawl I think more than the older ones... but I think back on the 64 version, and I do understand that for it's time, it was amazing, plus I DO still really love it.

  • The Legend of Zelda - The Twilight Princess
  • Myst IV: Revelation
  • The Elder Scrolls : Skyrim
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Final Fantasy III
  • Sim City 2000
  • Super Smash Bros. 64
  • Mario Kart 64
  • The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time
  • Super Mario Galaxy
