Hello!
I have been looking at different animation programs for quite a while and the only ones I am interested in are costly.
Which animation program do you use?
Do you prefer vector or bitmap?
I really like the flexibility of bitmap but it's so tedious.
I am not a fan of most vector animation because I feel like the ultra-smooth movements are kind of awkward.
I was thinking about using gimp but I also want to see if I like using vector, so I downloaded Synfig.
I would prefer to use free software, but I understand that in order to achieve the quality I desire, I will probably have to spend the money for it.
I would like your opinion before making a decision, and if you have examples of your work, that would be fantastic.

I'm not exactly a professional when it comes to animation, but I personally would just use GIMP. It is VERY tedious, but at least it's free software. I believe that you can make good quality work with free software so long as you put in time and effort. Here's a crappy animation that I put together:

Note: I do not own these sprites, background, etc. I simply used them as part of a project for educational purposes. Just throwing that out there lol.
