Hello, I am Joey W and this is my first ever review! I have been a big Pok?mon fan since I was young. My first region was Hoenn through Pok?mon Ruby. I have beaten Emerald countless amount of times and it never really gets too old. With that background information, let's begin!
Graphics: Emerald's graphics are great, hence the 9 rating. It is a classic. Generation 3 revolutionized the graphics for Pok?mon in my opinion. It added new and improved sprites. Before Gen 3, the graphics were terrible (mostly because the game boy color was new and low tech). When Gen 3 came around it changed lots of things. One of those things was the sprites. It added more pixels and detail to the characters.
Sound: The sound in this game was good too. I decided to give it a rating of 8 mostly because although I really enjoyed it, it was really overplayed throughout the entire game. I did however like the fact that when the scene changed, so did the music. The battle music was good.
Addictiveness: The only reason that this is rated 8 is because I have played this so much, it is not that addictive to me anymore. However, it is still very addictive and is still lots of fun to play. I encourage all of you reading this, to also play it if you have not already.
Story: The story, the story. This is hard to talk about because it is so amazing! The addition of 2 villainous teams was shocking. Also with 2 rivals you could not go wrong. In Emerald something changed however. It is the first game to include the players father as a gym leader. I loved fighting my dad in a heated gym battle. That never gets old. Also, there is so much for you to do after you beat the elite 4. The battle frontier is new and exciting. It gives you the most out of battling. The story is truly tremendous and that is why it deserves a 10.
Depth: I pretty much gave that all away in the story section. There is an infinite number of things to do in Emerald which is why it is truly great. Beat the elite 4, great battle frontier. The battle frontier is so time consuming but worth the gold prints. It deserves the 10 I gave it.
Difficulty: Emerald isn't that difficult. I was being nice giving it that 6. It is actually pretty easy but there is so much to do that it really balances itself out.
Overall: Now for the fun part. I gave it a 9. I just found the average of all the categories (with the exception of the difficulty). I think it is the best Pok?mon game out there with all the new and exciting features it offers.
Well, that's it! Thanks for reading and be sure to comment on what you thought about it or send me some suggestions for future reviews. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks!!!
