Was anyone else just disgustingly disappointed by the end of HIMYM? I've seen online that a lot of people were as unimpressed as I am, curious if there were any around here.
I thought it was such a cop out. Yes, at points, I was rooting a little bit for Ted and Robin to be together, but not at all once Robin and Barney had their thing. After that point, Ted and Robin was just old news and it was annoyingly painful to watch Ted keep rehashing all that BS every time he's the tiniest bit disheartened about freakin' ANYTHING. Then finally he finds someone who's as nerdy and awkward as he is and she's great. They have their babies, and they get old together, and they're depicted as the most perfect couple ever. Great! That's what we've been waiting for. Then she dies, which is sad. But he's got his children and all is well and good. But nope. NOPE. After his wife's death, he's miraculously still pining after stupid Robin. That bothers me because to me that indicates that he probably still harbored feelings for her all through his marriage, though he probably didn't think or dwell on it. Robin and Ted suck together. I guess it's supposed to be like, now that he has kids, they won't have that big issue holding them back. But there were other things that didn't make it work as well. Anyway, it just seemed totally awful. Find new woman, have kids with her, she dies, instantly relapse and pretty much make light of everything that was supposed to be the biggest and best thing that happened to him (the mother). Crappiest ending ever. That's like 9 seasons of build up to this perfect relationship for Ted where he FINALLY gets his crap together and then total rebound. Classic Shmosby, but still. What was everyone else's feels on this? Happy ending or sloppy? I thought it was such a cop out. Yes the end of How I Met Your Mother was really disappointing I didn't like the way it ended ether it would have been better if they ended halfway and not made it an hour they should have made it end when they met it's like they tryed to make it longer then it should have been after all it's called How I Met Your Mother not How I Loved Robin. |

I watched the end and it was crap. A whole 9 seasons and then 1 final episode and only 10 minutes of them actually meeting and getting married. Why have a whole season of Barney and Robin getting married if you're just going to have them get divorced the very next episode. I guess I was also rooting a but for Ted and Robin to end up together but in the end that wasn't how it should have happened. 9 seasons and everything that has been worked up to is completely flushed away and changed. |

Entiitan: I think it went way too long too. There was a ton of filler and I think they milked the series and it's success. I think some episodes that aren't entire plot driven are good but that was just a lot to sit through, especially with how awful the ending was. I feel like I wasted so much of my time.
Blubcreator : That's how I feel too. It's such a LOOOOONG series and it has it's little plot twists and what have you, but what a big let down. The whole season of Barney and Robin getting married was just exhausting to watch, I think. That was like 15 episodes that spanned the length of a single weekend. It just made me angry how little progress they made. I think it's obvious that they were just trying to draw it out as long as possible, which wouldn't have been *that* bad if the ending was great. But they spent a whole season getting you psyched, nixing on it immediately after with them getting divorced, pretty much a single montage of Ted and the mother, and then she dies and instantly back to Robin. It's like they didn't even take it all seriously, which is ridiculous, because I've been watching that show FOR YEARS and they finally wrap it up to be like 'just kidding!'. Come on. What a bunch of dicks. Blubcreator : That's how I feel too. It's such a LOOOOONG series and it has it's little plot twists and what have you, but what a big let down. I was surprised at the ending of How I Met Your Mother, but not really disappointed. They had it planned since season 2 that Ted would end up with Robin, and the whole show kept giving hints of it. They even foreshadowed the mother's death a few times (though, mostly in the last season) which I found impressive. I do not believe Ted harbored feelings for Robin when he found Tracy, but when she died, he just felt lonely. He waited 6 years before thinking about asking Robin out again, and not before asking his kids (admittedly, in a VERY roundabout way). As for how Robin and Ted are together, they were at different points in their lives when they were together. Robin was still trying to be happy with her career, Ted wanted kids, marriage, lovey dovey stuff. Robin couldn't put up with that while finding career happiness. As we find out later, Robin has her dream job, seems to not be traveling all the time, and judging on the many dogs she has once again, is looking for love. Ted HAD his happy marriage, kids, lot of lovey dovey stuff, but after tragedy struck, he felt lonely again. This sort of thing can be relatable to real life, such as when a divorced/widowed people find each other. For widow(er)s, they may always love their late spouse, but they can still feel a desire for companionship. For all we know, Ted and Robin may have become a couple once more simply for that. There are old feelings, yes, but they still were always friends. Admittedly, I was hoping that Robin and Barney would work out, and in that regard I was disappointed, but I did enjoy the whole journey throughout the show. The characters were all interesting, the plots were hilarious, and I can't say I regret watching the show since it provided me with a lot of laughs. I can understand feeling disappointed about the ending, but to say you feel the show wasted your time? Did you laugh? Were there more episodes you liked than disliked? I suppose I should not be surprised though, as I recall many people hating on Lost after its ending as well (though it also garnered hate from taking too long) while I enjoyed the show as a whole still. I'll leave this message with probably one of my favorite scenes of the series that had me busting a gut every time I see it. Mind, the clip cuts out the best part, but sets it up well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ytqb6sE They had it planned since season 2 that Ted would end up with Robin, and the whole show kept giving hints of it.
