New Stuff: Atelier Rorona Plus: The Alchemist Of Arland features a completely revamped 3D character model for Rorona, a redesigned item synthesis & crafting system, additional chapters, playable characters previously unavailable throughout the series, and more.

Source: IGN

Gameplay: Atelier Rorona has four main modes of gameplay: a field map, a battle screen, an alchemysystem, and a visual novel system. Navigation occurs via two static map illustrations, which depicts the Arland town and its surrounding area in a scaled down view. Field map areas such as the town and forests are depicted as realistically rendered environments, in which the player can converse with locals, gather items, or encounter enemies. Enemies on field maps are openly visible to the players, and players can either engage or avoid the encounter. Contact with the enemies initiates a separate battle screen.

Plus is pretty much an improvement over the original PS3 version, and it is jam-packed with extra material. Not a new game entirely, but more of a 1.5. The game seems to be the standard Atelier fare. I still have not been able to play any of the games yet, but the premise at least seems to be interesting. The game got good reviews in Japan, and I am also mildly interested. Thoughts?

sop281 : I am mildly interested into Atelier series, but I do not like the time system where it's like you have four years to do tasks. I wish they would do a different way of progressing the story like how in one of them they did it for collecting memories for a journal (I think). Do you know what that one is called (it's okay if you don't)?

happiness7 : I am not sure what it is called, but that seems like a significantly better system than the way the usual game plays out. The time system seems to make the game significantly more rushed, and less casual. I probably would not be able to play the game casually, even if I tried. It would have to be a forced concentration of very high caliber every single time I played. Collecting memories just seems like a better way to do it, and allows for different kinds of people to play (I would still play it, but would probably not like it as much if it were the timed system). If I find what the game is called, I will get back to you.
