My favorite Mario game (and my favorite game period, for that matter), is Super Mario Galaxy 2.  It brought in a ton of awesome ideas, brilliantly designed levels, awesome control, and implemented it all perfectly.  Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a perfect game.

My least favorite Mario game, not counting spin-offs or Super Mario Land 3 (which starred Wario), is probably Super Mario Bros. 2.  It didn't click with me when I was younger, although I love it now.

One of my favorite levels is from what is considered by many to be the worst Mario game: Super Mario Land 2.  The final level is superbly designed, feels incredibly tight, and is a blast to speedrun.

I have a tie between my favorite Mario games, those being:

*Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars.
This game is just amazing, it's so much fun to play, and it has some very nice graphics for its time. The game-play is fantastic, the story is wonderful, and I just can't stop saying good things about this game.

*Super Mario 64.
Once again, astounding game. This game brought so new things, not just for future Mario games, but for other platformers and games in general.

Now my least favorite Mario game is:

*Super Mario Bros. 2.

My least favourite is much easier to think of than my favourite.
New Super Mario Bros. (All of them)
Honestly, I find them lazy rehashes of each other with nothing new to make me want the next one. The multiplayer is awful when all I want to do is finish the level and sidescrollers have never been my thing in the first place. Yes I suck at it, but even if I didn't I don't think my opinion would change.
Now, my favourite is an honest three way tie between
Super Paper Mario
It's the second least liked of most Paper Mario fans because of the changes but it is the one sidescroller that I live to bits. The soundtrack is amazing, the story is the best I've ever seen in a Mario game and the gameplay is solid.
Super Mario Galaxy
The game play and music is jaw dropping and every mission is a bucket of fun. Simple as that.

Oh my gosh. I love it. Everything about just keeps me playing over and over again (Except the story. It's meh)
