Mario Party 6 was the first Mario Party game I've ever played. I would play this game with my aunt, my cousin, and even my parents ( my father surprisingly always chose Peach for his character so my mother came up with the nickname "Princess Honey" for him ). Unfortunately, not all good times last forever. One day, we turned on our GameCube and a message came up saying that the game disc could not be read. Sometimes, it would play halfway through a game and the message would pop up. A few months later, the game was nowhere to be found and it was never played again. We were never able to find this game in any store. But I still have memories, and that's what's helping me write this.
I remember the graphics not being too bad. They don't have anything wrong with it, but there's really nothing that sticks out. I guess that Astro Avenue and all the other mini games and stuff that have to do with space look pretty cool. I don't really remember all that much about the graphics except for one thing. Every three turns day switches to night. During night time, it affects the board and how it looks. It also affects the mini games. As an example, in the Daft Rafts mini game, during the day there's spinies on the rafts. At night, there's podoboos on the rafts. There's small changes like that for a lot of mini games.
I remember some of the music in this game being in between good and bad. I've listened to some of it, and currently I like the music for E. Gadds Garage. It sounds like machinery at work which E. Gadd is very intelligent so it fits in. I also like the music for Astro Avenue. It sounds like your going on an adventure through space. It sounds really good, but I definitely have heard better music. One thing I should mention is that the music sounds different at night than during the day. It's just a slight change, and it doesn't really make it sound much better, but it's in the game. I guess Mario Party 6 wasn't too good on music.
This game is pretty addicting. When I was 4 this was the only game I would play. I would set up 50 turn games determined to finish them but turns out I never did. I would play this game for 4 hours. It wouldn't even matter if I was playing it by myself or with other people. I remember that I played it so much I got pretty good at it. I would never get bored of this game no matter what. It was so much more fun than most of the games I've played.
This games story is about the sun, Brighton, and the moon, Twila. When you turn on the game, a book opens. It says that Mario and the others liked playing Mario Party and that the sun and moon always hosted those parties. But one day, Brighton said to Twila, "Who do you think is more impressive? You or me?" Twila answered, "I'm more dazzling!" Brighton replied, "No way! I'm cooler than you!"  Then it went back and forth, "I'm cooler!" "I'm better!" "I'm cooler!" "I'm better!" It went on, and on, and on, until Mario came up with a plan to collect stars to fill up the star bank and end the fight. So that's how Mario Party 6 begins.
This game I don't remember being all that big. It had new mini games and all that, but I don't remember it having that much in it. It had Solo Mode so you can test your luck in Thirsty Gulch and Astro Avenue. They had different ways to have fun with the mini games. They didn't have all that much. But, they did have the day and night gimmick. I guess I'll talk about the different effects of day and night on all the boards. In Snowflake Lake, you use chain chomps to run over your opponents and steal their stars ( once I ran over everyone on the board ). You can pay 20 coins for 1 dice block during the day, but at night you can pay 30 coins for 3 dice blocks. However, there are ice things blocking the way to the inside of the map. In Faire Squaire, you can pay 20 coins for one star during the day. But at night you can pay as little as 5 coins for a star, or as high as 40 coins for a star. To make things even better you can buy up to 5 stars at a time in Faire Squaire. In Clockwork Castle, you normally go forward and chase after Donkey Kong during the day. But at night, you move around the board the opposite way trying to avoid Bowser who is standing in the same spot as Donkey Kong was during the day. That's all that I know.
This game is not that difficult. Although it is a little when it comes to a few mini games, other than that it's not that hard. Tricky Tires is my least favorite mini game. You need to use the control stick to steer the left tires, and the C stick to control the right tires. This was the only mini game I was not decently good at. When I was 4 I didn't look at the controls, so I just drove around in circles. That's the only mini game I think is challenging. The other challenging part of the game is in Endurance Alley. Things got pretty hard far down the road. Other than a few things I found this game to be pretty easy.
I loved this game when I was 4 and I still do today. I just wish I could still play it.
