Since I joined vizzed almost 5 years ago, I've mentioned quite a few time's how much I love to draw and how often I do portraits, but I've never shared any of my works. Today I just thought "Why not?" So, I thought I'd share a few of my favourite pieces I've done. I'll basically just post what I have on my deviantART account and update if people would like to see more. I mostly draw portraits because I love drawing realistically and drawing faces.

First up is one of my favourite drawing's I've done of my fave singer Taylor Swift. This took approximately 10 hours with 2B and 6B derwent pencils.

This is my absolute favourite CM Punk portrait that I've done. For people who don't know CM Punk, he is a retired wrestler. This took about 6-7 hours and I used a 2B pencil, 6B charcoal pencil, a mechanical pencil for the fine details and  a q-tip and blender for shading. Sorry about the watermark. It's from my dA account and wrestling fans are notorious for stealing art...

Wow, these are both great. It looks as if you just took a picture of them instead of actually drew these. I just love the expression on CM Punks face and I think that you did a wonderful job with these.

oh...
my....
goodness....

*jaw drops * I will never, ever, ever understand how you artistic people do it. This is beyond amazing. To me, it's especially amazing that it took ten hours.  I can't even imagine doing it given a year.....

Will you pretty please share more with us?

*Looks at my own stick figures that I am really proud of*
*Sits down and sobs*
Omg... that is AMAZING. Those look like perfect photographs! No way anyone can draw like that... Some people have so much skill, and i can draw stick figures with uneven arms and legs, that take me an hour to draw. The best thing I have ever drawn looks nothing like that kind of skill! And I spent days on that... You have a ton of skill... That is just amazing. Thanks for sharing your skills

Flibbith : Thanks so much! It's one of the reason's I really like drawing portraits: to try and capture their expression and mood.
zanderlex : Thank you. Out of all the CM Punk's I've done (way too much lol), that one is my favourite.
Singelli : Thanks. Ten hours, but in a few nights. I've only ever done a handful of drawings in one sitting and they only took 4-5 hours. I have to break it up otherwise my arthritis gets to be a bit too much.   Sure, I'll post some more.
Barathemos : Thank you. I appreciate the kind words. It took years of practice and trial & error with different kinds of pencils and paper and a lot of the time, I'm still not satisfied. lol

Here are a few more drawings I've done:

I did this last summer after watching my sister whip up a colour portrait with pencil crayons in under 2 hours. I felt inspired and attempted my own coloured pencil drawing. I don't use pencil crayons very often, so it was challenging, but fun. This took around 7-8 hours over 3 days.

This is one of my more recent drawings. Chris Jericho ( another wrestler ) was in town for an autograph signing. I like getting portraits signed but the one's I had done already were older and I knew I could do better, so I rushed to get this done in time. It turned out to be one of my fave portraits. This took approximately 5 1/2 hours and was done on pentalic paper with 2B, 5B and 6B derwent pencils and I used a tissue for shading.

When I saw you had posted more art, I felt a little giddy, I must admit. XD  And when I saw that tiger?!?!  OH MY GOSH. I would seriously, seriously pay you for that if I had the money. That is just... absolutely AMAZING and astonishing.  WOW.

What is your favorite non-person piece?

These are all beautiful drawings, how can you even do this. Is there any chance you could draw me like one of your french girls? That tiger looks amazing though. C-can I pet it?

Wow. Those are really good. I'm more of a cartoon artist. I can't do 'real' pictures very well. Could you do one of The Ultimate Warrior? He was one of my favorites growing up & it hit me kind of hard when he died last Tuesday.

I also have to thank you for that watermark comment. I totally didn't think about putting ID on the pics I put on deviantART today. I'll have to start putting ID of some sort on them.

Singelli : Thank you. My fave non-person piece? I don't draw many things other than people, so that tiger is definitely a fave of mine. I do have a shark that I'll post here that I really like too.

mourinhosgum : Thanks very much. lol I don't know if the tiger would like it. ;p

Surgiac : Thank you. I'm not too good at drawing in a cartoon style myself. I've been asked a few times to draw Warrior in the past week. I've been wanting to draw a tribute to Mae Young, so I may do a tribute to Warrior as well. When I do, I'll be sure to let you know. About the watermarks...I find they do help deter art theft, but don't outright stop it. Some people don't seem to mind claiming art as their own with a big ID on it saying otherwise.

ilikeditto : Thank you very much. I suck at giving tips. lol I never went to art school or anything and just learned by trying different things. I always take quite a while getting the outlines done and making sure they look right before I do any shading though. Saves time and hassle later on. When I do start shading I start light and darken it as I go on in case it doesn't look right and I need to erase it. A kneaded eraser is great to use and I like using it for adding thin highlights to things such as hair. I also find I like using tissue as a shading device. I get much smoother shading with that than I would a blending stump. As cliche as it sounds, practice goes a long way. I look at pieces I've done, even a few months back, and I can see improvements. Just keep drawing and pushing yourself.

Well, I have a few more drawings I picked to share. First up is the 'smiling shark' as my brother and sister call it. It just started out as a doodle, but I decided to colour it in and ended up with this.

I really like Taylor Swift and I draw her a lot. This was done last October over the course of a month. Lost track of how long it took. More than 6 hours, but less than 10. This was drawn on pentalic paper with 2B, 5B and 6B derwent pencils and I used tissue and q-tips for shading.

Fishergirl7 : I like the shark. That would actually look pretty good in 3D. It already looks like it's trying to swim out of the page.

WOW. I could never have the patience or effort to do that. Drawing can be fun but it isn't for me. Very good though.

You are killing me with these drawings... like seriously.... WOOOOW!  I bet you've done commissioned art before?  How much would a typical portrait cost, if you have?  (Don't worry, I can't afford any such thing; I'm just curious.)

Singelli : I've been commissioned to do a few pieces, yeah. Mostly for friends and family which I always find awkward. I've never charged anything though since I feel weird making them pay, but they just pay me anyway, usually under $100. I would have no idea what to charge anyway. I've never really thought about it. lol

I was commissioned to illustrate a book for an old teacher of mine and she want's to pay me $1500. I told her it was too much, but she insists.

Here are a few more drawings I've done. First up is Tali from the Mass Effect series. This took 5 hours on pentalic paper with 2B, 5B and 6B pencil's with tissue for shading.

One of my fastest drawings, here's Wolverine. This took a little under 3 hours and I used the same graded pencils as Tali. It was done on printer paper, which I don't particularly enjoy for drawing.

Lastly...the Backstreet Boys! It's their 21st anniversary today, hence sharing a sketch I did. It took over a year to complete this. I started it then stopped with the outlines done on only two of them when I found it difficult to draw 5 people together. I pulled it back out a year later and was determined to get it done. They're pretty small, so it was difficult to get the details in there, which is why I opted for a more sketchy look.

It isn't like I'm an art critic or anything but these seem really good to me. I'm surprised your aren't already making aliving with that talent.  The amount of realism is incredible but there is still a feeling of human emotion thrown in with the hand drawing compared to an actual photo.  Really good stuff I think it be cool to see more of it!

Hello! Sorry to anyone who has actually wanted to see new stuff. Work was crazy last week and I couldn't get near the internet. Anyway...here are a few more drawings.

First up is another Taylor. I had this candid poster of Taylor and I always wanted to draw the picture, but the hat was pretty intimidating. Finally, I just told myself that I wont improve unless I start pushing myself, so I gave it a go. Again, this was done on pentalic paper with the usual pencils and shading equipment. This took about 9 1/2 hours.

Here's an Obi Wan portrait I did a few years back. I'm pretty happy with how it the shading turned out considering it was a cartoon character. Same paper and tools as used for most of my drawings. This only took three hours to complete.
