The Melting of The Earth
Chapter 1
It was dark and sweat was pouring off of Chase's face as he slipped passed the gate into the mansion. It was dark in there as Lord Tiffany, the land owner, was asleep and all of the guards were in a separate section of the house. He stared around at the huge back room, about 10 times his small little house, and this was the smallest part. He moved through the room and came to a locked door, one that he knew had tons of guards in. This was the room he can been looking for his entire life. On the other side of this door, he knew was more then 1,000,000 worth of paper money and gold coins. She had more money in this one tiny room then in all of sector 14, the poorest sector of Great Britten. He needed to get in there and take what he could for his people.
"What can I do?" He asked himself as he ex-amend the lock. It was a complex lock, nothing like what he had picked before. He took out 3 wires, what he knew he could get the lock with. He jammed the first into the lock, snapping the ring open. He slipped the second one passed the first into the third opening, the one he had to get second in order for the door to open and he undid the ring. He shoved the third wire into the second slot and turned the knob.
Nothing. Nothing had happened. He knew there was not only three rings in the door. He pulled out two more wires and examined the lock. He stuck the thinner wirer into the lock and fished around until he found the fourth hole. He turned the knob once more hoping deeply that it will unlock. He heard a small snap as the lock turned all the way around. He slowly opened the door and pulled out his hand made dart gun. The darts in the gun were tranquilizer darts.
He small a large guard looking the other way, and Chase shot him with the dart. When the guard fell, Chase looked around to find no one else. He went in. There was a small hall way leading to a slightly opened vault. He opened the door all the way and saw everything that was inside it. So much money and gold, he couldn't even dream of having it all. He picked up some of the paper money and put into a large bag he had brought. After he had put about a thousand dollars into the bag, he heard footsteps. He turned around and looked.
"What the hell are you doing?" The guard asked.
Chase put down the bag and moved back into the corner of the room, hoping not to be seen. The guard reached out and grabbed him.
"You're coming with me to see the Lord of this Manor."
As Chase was dragged out the room, he saw all that wealth and fame he could bring to his small town on the opposite hillside disappear right before his eyes.

Chapter 1.5
Chase couldn't believe it. He had been caught doing a terrible act of crime toward the Lord, but an act of heroism to his town. He really didnt know what to think. This section of the castle he had only seen once, when they had a town meeting there, and he was not very happy too see it again. This was the room where court hearings had been held, and many people prosecuted, and Chase was afraid that he would be the next victim. He wanted more then anything to get lose of the guards grip to run, and to never be seen in the palace again. He wanted to run into the hills, only 4 or 5 miles, something he could cover in one day that the guards would take at least 2 to cover. He wanted to just disappear with his family and town, and be part of the rich, the ones who got everything that they wanted. He wanted that, so bad that he would do anything for it. He was selfish and greedy to try to get that money, and now the whole town would be in trouble. He knew that if the authorities released him, his town would never let him do anything on his own again. He had just dug his own grave.
They walked into a small room with several guards who tipped their hats to the guard who was carrying Chase as if he was special for capturing a criminal. They walked into a small room where the guard put Chase down and told him to just sit there until morning had come and when they would talk to the Lord. Chase didn't know what else he could do, but he thought about running. That thought left his head when the guard went out of the room and locked the door.
He thought about a lot that night. Most of which was about what he would do to get back at the guards, but also what he would have to do to escape this palace and make it home without anyone noticing. At dawn, the same guard came in to take him to the palace.
