I haven't been getting much use out of my Nintendo DS lately, and want to try developing games on the handheld, importing games, downloading free games and roms for use with the DS, including hacks and translations. So what do I all need for this, what Flash Card or hardware is the most recommended?

Would something like the NinjaDS be recommended, or something else? Anyone here take part in the DS homebrew scene, and might know something? I'd appreciate some help, and thank you.

I just realized this would be better suited for Rom Hacking section of the forums. Could a moderator move it there? Sorry for the hassle.

As far as what kind of flash cards are best, you would be looking at either the CycloDS Evolution or the AceKard 2.
Everything else is pretty much rubbish.

I have a cyclods evolution and works perfectly! got it from a website called kickgaming. a little expensive but they match prices answer questions thru email, ship fast and are reliable. but if you plan to get a gba cart as well i dont recomend the 3in1 as it has no real time clock. there are patches for ruby and sapphire but not for emerald. i am considering buying an m3 gba pack and using gbaexploader.

An R4 works perfectly as long as you have the most current software.
It works with homebrew games as well.
You can even watch movies and listen to music via the media option.
There is a whole database of themes for it.

omfg for the love of christ don't get a r4 they can cause serious problems with ur ds and are 100% hated by nintendo if u use ur r4 in ur ds u give up any insurance or warrintys on ur ds well not like they will know but u won't be able to get nintendo to fix it well that is if ur r4 wrecks ur ds

I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you are talking about.
Yes Nintendo don't like flash cards, but they hate all emulation.
If you are that fussed over it you shouldn't play in the RGR either.
Now for the truth. Flash cards like the CycloDS and the R4 do not alter the DS in any way.
They do not void the warrenty.
On the off chance they could damage the DS (but that's very unlikely) Nintendo would fix it if it's in warrenty unless you tell them you were using a flash card.
They don't know otherwise.

No, there's also the Acekard 2i for DSi.
