Another day, my second review! Fossil Fighters is a fun game. I cannot stress that enough. I love this game. You are on your way to Vivosaur Island, a resort run by the Richmond Foundation. The island houses the Fossil Stadium and Fossil Battles are fought there. Of course, you want to take part in these battles! That's all I'm saying about the story until we get there, though. You may be thinking, "This is just a Pokemon rip-off." I assure you; it's not. Without further ado, the review! Graphics: 8/10 For the DS, the 3D graphics are amazing. The characters are somewhat strange looking, and the environments are kind of bland. But the battles are where this game shines through. The Vivosaurs are stunning creatures, and the camera angles on their 3D forms captures that beautifully. The Vivosaurs look so good I have to give the Graphics a 8 out of 10. Amazing! Sound: 9/10 The sound in this game is not too shabby. The main menu and file selection screen's music really captures the excitement someone feels when you pop a game into your device. Then, the calm, carefree breezy music during the opening scene with the Captain on the boat accentuates the feeling on the calm waves rolling as you read the dialogue. These are merely examples of the soundtrack. They fit with the situation perfectly, which makes the soundtrack that much better. Addictiveness: 7/10 I don't why this game says "Play me again!" but it does. It brings back fond memories of raising Pokemon for me, though the battles are one in their own. Its story also wanted to make me play it again, for how suspenseful and fun it was. Battles were intense and required some strategy. All of these aspects together proved to be a winning combination for this game, and it was so fun it even spawned a sequel! Story: 10/10 People may disagree with me, but this game provides a very compelling story! The severity of the obstacles in your way to becoming a Champion really come together as they threaten the world later in the story. Along the way, you meet several strange races, a ghost, and a curious girl... What does this mean? The final act actually worried me as the fate of the world rested on my shoulders. (In the game, of course.) With such an exciting and frantic story, this is a 10 of 10 and one of my favorite story lines in gaming history! Depth: 9/10 This game is HUGE. Even after the game it has countless masks to collect for your character. In order to master all your Vivosaurs, you have to collect all their fossils and get them to level ten. That takes a long time, especially dinosaurs like the fabled T-Rex. So completionists will have a lot to complete, adding many layers of depth to the game. Difficulty: 5/10 This game isn't too hard as long as you put some time into leveling your Vivosaurs. However, you will have to put some sufficient strategic thinking into each move. It adds a bit of difficulty to a game which would otherwise be easy. It fills a hole that the single player in Pokemon has left in me. So even though this game isn't too difficult, it is a pretty good balance. 5 of 10. Overall: 8/10 I highly recommend trying this game, especially if you are a strategy/Pokemon fan.
