Today I am going to be reviewing and critiquing Mega Man Zero 3. So, let's get started. Story: 9 Mega Man Zero 3 is asequel to Mega Man Zero 2. The story takes place a few months after the last game. I mysterious space ship crashes and is omitting huge energy sources similar to the Dark Elf. Zero and the Resistance go investigate. However, the Resistance soldiers are captured but not harmed (they are later released). A new reploid shows up named Omega. The guardians Leviathan, Fefnir and Harpuia cannot even damage Omega. Zero, comes in and saves the day. Just when things could not get worse Dr. Weil has returned and plans on using the Dark Elf . Weil, was exiled from Neo Arcadia for threats against the humans. He, has also created a fake copy of X. The three guardians are relieved of their duties and Weil launches an attack on the humans. Zero must set out and destroy Omega and destroy Dr. Weil to save mankind. Okay I really liked the plot. I felt like the plot did a good job leading into this game. Moreover, it also showed creativity on how the game was going to have a genuine bad guy this time. What I mean is we know from the start that Weil is evil. The first two Zero games did not let on that the?villain?was the bad guy, until later on in the game. Thus, I give the plot a good rating of 9 out of 10. Graphics and Controls: 8 The graphics for the most part were good. I really like how the sun sets in the desert stages. I also like how the stages were colorful. When a game has good color in it that is a bonus for me. I felt like the graphics were done nicely. There was really only one problem I had with the graphics. In the later stages some of the backgrounds looked fuzzy. I do not know why they looked fuzzy. For me it kind of makes the later stages looked rushed a bit. I do know this game was released shortly after the second one. So, maybe that is why the later stages looked rushed. The sprints are very good in this game. Zero can wear different colors of armors depending on the weapon the player has equipped. The different colors of armor was a nice touch. The enemies look okay as well. However, why does Capcom still have the Neo Arcadia soldiers look like zombies. I have never understood that. The controls in this game were very good. I did not notice any sluggishness in this game. Capcom really did a good job on the controls for this game. I also did not notice any lagging either which was nice. Thus, I give the graphics and controls a good rating of 8 out of 10. The rating would have been higher had it not been for the fuzziness in the later stages. Sound: 9 The sound in this system was nice. A lot of the stages have good memorable tunes to them. In fact, some of them sound like they are a remix of old tunes to earlier X games. However, I did notice some tingles in the later stages, which makes me think that this game could have been rushed a little bit. Zero's saber has an awesome sound especially when it hits an enemy. Moreover, some of the enemies moan and groan as they are being killed, which was also a nice touch. The weapon's sounds are amazing as they sound very powerful. Therefore, Mega Man Zero 3 had a good sound too it except for a few tingles. I give the sound of Mega Man Zero 3 a good solid rating of 9 out of 10. Addictiveness and Depth: 9 Mega Man Zero 3 was a fun game to play. Now was it as good as the second game.? In my opinion no, but it still is a good game. Zero 3 has a lot of offer in terms of game play and depth. In addition, there are even sub games that can be unlocked so that adds replay value. Mega Man Zero 3 really shined on depth. As, in any Zero or Mega Man game there are several items to be collected. Power ups can be achieved by doing tasks are getting them from cyber elves. Moreover, just like Mega Man X6 Zero can move up in rankings. The rankings are based on enemies killed and missions completed. There are several sub games that can be unlocked one the player meets a criteria. Beating the game unlocks one sub game. Another game can be unlocked by achieving the highest rank. If your really good you can unlock games featuring the four guardians. All of these things really add depth and replay value to the game. Thus, I give the depth a solid 9 out of 10 rating. Difficulty: 9 Oh boy, was this game difficult. The enemy placement in this game can really wear you down. They are several enemies in the stages. So, it is real easy to lose health quickly due to how enemies will gang up on you. Also the bosses have hard attacks that are difficult to dodge. In addition, some of the missions have timers on them. Failure to beat the clock results in a failed mission. In fact, this game itself is a very faced paced game. This is a game that you can not be slow in. Mega Man Zero 3, will really test your reflexes in dodging enemy attacks and completing missions. They also make it very hard to get to the sub games. I want to think one of the sub games requires a no damage run yikes. Capcom really knew what they were doing in making this game difficult. Zero 3, real not only test your reflexes but it also will test your skills as well as your creativity. To make it through some of the stages requires very precise skills to master. I like games that challenge you on difficulty and that require skills to beat. It just makes beating the game a worthy celebration. Now, as hard as this game is you maybe wondering why I did not give it a 10 out of 10. Here is why, this game does give you some power ups. Having the power ups can sometimes make a difference inbattling enemies. It can also make a difference in boss fights as well. So, by all means get the power ups. Still, for the things I mentioned above this game is very difficult. Thus, I give the game a solid 9 out of 10 on difficulty. Overall: 8.8 Zero 3, was a good game and I have had fun playing it. I felt like the plot was nicely done and the controls were good. Plus this game really challenged me on difficulty, which I like. However, I do not think this game was as good as Zero 2. Zero 2, was probably the best game in the Zero series. I knew after playing Zero 2 it was going to be hard to top that game. The graphics look like they were missing a few things when compared to Zero 2. I mentioned earlier how I thought this game might have been rushed a little bit. Zero 3, came out shortly after Zero 2 did. Some things in this game such as the graphics and sound looked like they were rushed. I do not know why Capcom felt like they needed to get this game out in such a quick manner. The Game Boy Advanced was still at its peak, and would not decline to a few years later. So, Capcom could have taken a year to develop this game. Had, Capcom taken more time than this game could have been up there with the second game. However, despite the few negatives in this game, it is still a good game. Mega Man Zero 3 has a lot to offer to video game players. Therefore, at the end of the day I give Zero 3 a good rating of 8.8. Now, would I recommend this game? Yes I would recommend this game. But, before I played this game I would play the first two Zero games. Otherwise, you may get lost in the story line. I also think that people should play the second game before this one. In conclusion, pick up this game and enjoy it. Story: 9 Mega Man Zero 3 is asequel to Mega Man Zero 2. The story takes place a few months after the last game.
