I've ranted at the fact that a certain blue furry has made millions of dollars, while many good games get shelved.

What will I be ranting about now? Pokemon. Pokemon, a series I heard about when I was around 8 or 7. This was one of the most innovative ideas for the game boy ever made. No one really new the concept of capturing creatures and trading them.

Now lets look at nearly 10 years later, Pokemon still is the s*** here. But why? My problem with the games are, it's just the same "Capture all 300 of them!" task, spending around 30 minutes fighting level 23. enemies just to level up, and people not letting you go through because you haven't finished a certain task. And it's been what? Doing this 8 times around?

And don't let me get started off with the f***ing anime. It's just the same Ash and the gang meet a person, hang out with them for a day, Team Rocket are too oblivious to the fact that they've been pwnd over 400 f***ing episodes and try to steal Pikachu, but ultimately fail and get their asses handed to them. And basically this happens for another 6-8 episodes and they face the Gym Leader. After that, the same s*** goes on and they face the Gym Leader.

And basically, after around 2 seasons of that, we finish the series, and go to another region.
The trading cards really never bothered me, though what saddens the fact to me is that 20 year olds still play some fake card game.

So now tell me, you think I'm right with this rant? I'm wrong with this rant? Does Pokemon bother you? Do you still play it to this day? Respond and tell me.

Pokemon doesn't bother me cause I don't think about it. Yea there were some fun pokemon games back in the day. I remember Pokemon Snap that was a pretty innovative game I thought but I stopped caring about Pokemon when I grew older and found better games that I like

I still love the pokemon games. Even thought the games are kind of repetitive, and, I agree, the show after kanto f***ing sucked. But they do make an effort to mix it up a bit every game, and considering the fact that the whole 8 badges, travel the world is the basis of the whole series. You can't really blame them, there is not much room for them to change the game.

Well can't the same be said about any game series? Sure it has newer stories, maybe some newer features but it's basically the same right? Like for RPGs it's usually save the world right?
But everyone still plays Tales or Final Fantasy etc. I guess you can argue Pokemon, game wise doesn't have much of a story. Your trying to beat all the gym leaders, the elite four and become the best. And if you want all the scenes do whatever little extra quests and catch all the pokemon. Then they added in contests so that's another way to play and then there's the Safari Zone, the little bicyle road thing etc. There are usually some puzzles in the game too which can be fun and challenging for some or just plain annoying.

And while I love Pokemon and used to collect all the handheld games(and non hand-held games, however right now I'm talking about the hand-held ones as I've gotten nearly all of them)that are part of the main series, however once Diamond and Pearl came out I really just stopped collecting every single one. I only have Pearl, not Diamond and I emulate Platinum(along with a couple other DS games. My DS is falling apart but that's a different story). I probably wouldn't even buy Platinum, well not for myself, maybe for my nephew. As it doesn't really interest me even when playing it.

I do admit I'm totally psyched for the remake of Gold and Silver. And that's probably what's wrong with most games today, Pokemon especially. It just feels like their only remaking and not releasing brand new ones. Like after Ruby and Sapphire there was FireRed and Leafgreen which were a remake of Y/B/R/G and then there was Emerald which was a remake of Sapphire and Ruby(I know it has more then that but that's sort of what it feels like). And Platinum is a remake of Diamond and Pearl. Sure you could argue their not exactly remakes because there's more stuff etc. But the same can be said about remakes of Final Fantasy(like 3 or 4)right?

But what I'm getting at is it's an addicting game. I'm someone who enjoys Pokemon, Digimon and Yugioh games. They can get repetitive but any game in a series can at some point. What makes it popular if it's good and addicting. And to me Pokemon is. I still play it, and I plan on getting SoulSilver.

Also once Dawn was introduced into the anime I stopped watching it. I liked May a lot, she's my favorite but I also have a soft spot for Misty because she was my original favorite character. Dawn...I don't like too much and it is getting repetitive. The series started getting old well crap I can't remember. Maybe after Tracy left and Brock re-joined the group? But I have a soft spot for May and Max even though the series was weak by then. Maybe once they boot Dawn out I'll start watching Pokemon again. I heard a rumor the new girl in SoulSilver and HeartGold will be an anime character. Whether she'll be main or secondary is unknown.

Also the manga versions of the anime is much better and offers more variety. There's the manga version which details Ash and the gang but I find more entertaining(it's not like the show, things are portrayed differently and I find it more enjoyable then the show. Though I've only read like one or two of that series.)

Pokemon Adventures follows the gang sort of. Instead of Gary and Ash it's Red and Green(Though he's also called Blue but his real name is Green but they kept it Blue/Gary in the American version because we never got Pokemon Green amongst a couple other reasons.). Then the other characters are Blue/Green(She's the leafgreen girl though she's been in the series long before that game), Yellow(whose a girl whom pretends to be a boy for a while. And she's pyschic go figure), Silver, Gold, Crystal, Emerald, Diamond/Dia, Pearl, Platina/Platinum. Basically there's a character for each non remade game. Well for Diamond, Pearl and Platinum...Diamond is the boy character you can choose to be in the game/or the assistant if your the girl, Pearl is your rival/friend from the game and Platina is the girl.

Anyways I could go on, like how there's psychic powers, the Elite Four being evil etc etc. It's a good manga as is the one loosely based off the anime series.

Well see I think that is mostly the point. With RPGs sure sometimes the plot is save the world, but the characters dont know that or you dont start it that way and they develop and theres backstories and side stories and such.
Something which Pokemon is sorely lacking really.
It might be a bit more acceptable if it was like all new Pokemon and the old ones didnt exist, then maybe it wouldnt seem like so much rehash, or maybe made a different story then find all the Pokemon you can for Professor in your starting town and become best.
Thats something I think Pokemon Colosseum did well, it was at least a bit different. A bit.

I think that would be a great idea. You know being able to choose your job/what you do in the game. Like being just a breeder, coordinator, on one of the teams(Rocket, etc.), and so forth. I mean I know you can technically be a breeder and/or a coordinator but the main goal of the game is after all to beat everyone in battles. Maybe have a different story for the different paths you choose?

The Pokemon story may be weak but I like it enough to keep coming back. Maybe the game can be a little more like Pokemon Colosseum on the gamecube. That was different from the norm but enjoyable for me.
