Having a hard time getting to Dr. Wily in Mega Man 8. Well I hope my guide will help you reach Dr. Wily. In this guide I will be doing a walk through and doing a difficulty analysis.
For my difficulty analysis I will be using a scale of 1-10.
1-2 easy
3 slightly difficult
4-5 moderate difficulty
6-7 difficult
8-10 very difficult

For the robot masters I recommend this order: Frost Man, Tengu Man, Clown Man, Grenade Man, Aqua Man, Sword Man, Search Man and Astro Man

Now before I begin my guide I am going to give you some pointers.
  1. There are only 40 bolts in this game, which means that you can't buy every weapon.
  2. I recommend getting 5 bolts to purchase the Super Arrow it is very useful and will really help you in this game. To get the 5 bolts you  need to get the 3 in the intro stage. Then you can visit a robot master stage, get two more bolts and then kill yourself off. The game remembers the bolts you collected. To get to the store just hit select on the stage selection screen.
So, here we go with the guide.

Intro Stage (difficulty 2/10)
The first part is very simple. All you need to do is take out the robot palm trees, they harbor cannons underneath them. Next jump up to the platform and take out the tank enemy. It should be noted you want to shoot the upper part of the tank. If you shoot the lower part the head flies off and tries to swarm you. Take out  more trees and also the Mets. You will see a squid like enemy shoot it and it will steamroll over baddies for you. Now to a cut scene. Rush teleports in and gives Mega Man a message from Dr. Light. Dr. Light tells Mega Man to try to get to the energy source before Wily does. He also gives Mega Man the Mega Ball weapon. The ball can be kicked or jumped on for an extra boost. Next shoot the squid enemy and it will land on a switch. The switch is a hidden underground area that has 3 bolts in it. The underground area is also optional. My advice for getting the bolts in the underground area is to check everything out. Remember you can also swim in this game so use that to get the bolts too. There are 3 bolts in the underground area. After coming up from the underground area the enemies just repeat themselves. Now for the boss it is just a big crab. The easiest way to beat the crab is to kick Mega Balls at it they do a lot of damage. Another way is to used charged shots to expose the crabs weak spot. It should be noted do not let the crab get close to you. If the crab gets close to you, it will use its pinchers and grab you.  After defeating the crab Mega Man sees Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily takes the energy source and leaves to his secret lab. Mega Man finds an injured robot, whose name is Duo, and has Dr. Light come and pick him up. Difficulty Analysis this was not a hard stage at all. The only real threat here is the stage's boss. Even then the boss is not to hard.

Frost Man stage (difficulty 6/10)
I hope you followed my advice on getting the Supper Arrow buster part it will help tremendously. The first few enemies are penguins, they will try to rocket into you, Mets of course, and Tellies. The Tellies in this stage will just drop bombs on you. After getting past more penguins, Mets, and tanks you will be taken to an elevator room. The elevator room only has Bubble Bats, which are easy to take out. Now for a hard part you will be forced to get on a snow board. I find it best  not to worry about the enemies here. You will here voices that tell you want to do jump or slide. Obey the voices accordingly. You will also need to shoot to open gates. Once you reach the snow you are done with the first snowboard section. The next room has a bunch of penguins and whale copters in it. The Whale Copters will also be dropping ice so watch out for that. You will also notice some of the switches can rocket Ice toward other blocks. Use that to your advantage to get the bolt in this room. Proceed to the next room. The next room you will notice has bolts and other items frozen in the ice. It is best to revisit this stage when you get the Flash Bomb, Flame Sword or Astro Crush weapon. Those three weapons will break the ice and allow you to get the hidden items. Continue and head up the ladders. Avoid  or take out all the enemies and proceed to the next room. For the next room avoid the birds drooping colored gas. The gas does not harm you and the birds just want to make you panic so avoid them. The next elevator is the same as the first one. Now for the hardest part of this stage. It is time for the second snowboard part of this stage. The snowboard goes really fast, so make sure you obey the voices as well as shoot to open gates. If your survived the second snowboard part its onto Frost Man. Frost Man (difficulty 3/10) Frost Man is not really too bad. He will try to punch you or charge into you. His ice wave can freeze you so if you are caught quickly tap the dash button to get out. Frost man leaves himself open so blast away with charged shot. If you have the Flash Bomb he is really weak to that. Eventually he goes down without much of a problem. Difficulty Analysis the snowboard stages really bump the difficulty up for this stage. It is so easy to not get a gate open in time and get crushed. Also if your timing is off you will go down into the pit. The enemy placement in this game is not too much of a problem. Frost man himself aside from his punch attack and Ice wave he is not really a problem.

Tengu Man  Stage (difficulty 5/10)

This stage scrolls along so beware of that. The wind in this stage will also push you forward so remember that when jumping. The first room just has a few copter enemies in it. Also you will notice that platforms appear for you to stand on; you can use them to get a few bolts in this stage. The next part of the room will have the Whale Copters come by and drop a lot of Mets on you. Do not bother to fight the Mets just keeping heading right. Next, just jump across more platforms to enter the next room. The bubble room is pretty simple, just jump into the bubble machine and guide it upward. If your bubble hits thorns you will fall down and have to start over again. The room after that has Shield Attackers and birds in it so take them out. Now its time for the air battle part of this stage. Rush will teleport in for you to ride him. Along the way the balls you will see contain helper items just shoot them to get a helper. The rush enhancement will allow  rush to fire bullets. The picture of Auto summons Auto and he will be equipped with a bazooka. Beat attacks any enemy and Eddie will drop bombs on enemies. While ridding rush be sure to take out all the flying enemies. The second half is a continuation of the first half air battle's stage. Just keep doing what you have done before. Eventually you will be taken into the fortress and have to battle a laser enemy. The laser enemy is week to charged shots so fire away at its core. After the laser enemy battle you will have another bubble room to deal with. The next room is just a repeat of the very first room you started the stage with and then its onto Tengu Man. Tengu Man (difficulty 4/10) Tengu man is not so bad. His main attacks are his Tornado Hold weapon. The Tornado Hold if you are caught in it will take you up to the sky allowing Tengu Man to slam you down. Tengu Man's other attack is his dives. Tengu Man is real weak to the Ice Wave so fire when he lands on the ground. Another way to win this battle is just dodge and fire charged shots, but be sure to dodge his attacks. Difficulty Analysis this stage is not so bad considering it is an air stage. The scrolling screen is not hard. The biggest thing to worry about in the stage is the enemy placement. They are lots of airborne enemies to deal with in this stage. Tengu Man himself can be a problem with his dives and tornado weapon. But he leaves himself open to attacks so use that to your advantage.

Clown Man Stage (difficulty 3/10)
The first room you will notice a face on top of a pole. If you kick a Mega Ball into the face's mouth you get a free extra life. After that head right and the game will drop you into the next floor. The next room has worms buried under the toys so take them out. In addition they are also mets and cannons to deal with too. Before the shaft you will see a bolt on the other side use Mega Ball to do a boost jump to get it then head down the shaft. The next room has railroad tracks with an interesting gimmick. The trains can be rode on but they often will collide and crash with other trains. If you are on a train that collides it will dump you into the pits. The hot air balloons coming down from the sky will drop enemies, that will  grab you and shock you, so be sure to avoid them. The next area has another interesting gimmick. You will notice the floor has blocks that have X, O and a skull on them. The enemy in the background when he rings the bell make sure you are on an O block. X will cause a boxing glove to come up from the floor and hit you and the skull block will drop you onto death spikes. Just proceed to the next room and you will see a ? block. The ? block will take you to other parts of the room. Some will take you down into the lower part of the room for a bolt while others will take you to the top. Just figure the puzzle out and make your way to the top. After you reach the top you will be taken down to fight the mini boss. The mini boss is a big circle that bounces around the room trying to land on you. The best way to defeat this boss is by using charged shots or the Mega Ball. The next room after that is just a repeat of the block room with the bell enemy in the background. You will then be taken down to another room and meet a new enemy. The toy windup enemies will throw birds at you if you get to close. Most of the time they like to swing on the bars. It should be noted that when you revisit this stage you can use the bars via Thunder Claw to get a bolt up the room. The clown face elevators also move up and down. The final room is just another repeat of the block rooms. Clown Man (difficulty 5/10) clown man can be a problem. He likes turn into a ball and ounce around the room. He can also grab you with his long arms shocking you. When he jumps to swing on his bar that is when you hit him with Tornado Hold. Difficulty Analysis the stage is not too bad. Really the only problem here is the mini boss and the trains. The block section is not too hard. Clown Man is more of a problem. He can spam you with his rolling attack and shock you with his arms. However having his weakness really limits him from being a huge problem.

Grenade Man Stage (difficulty 6/10)
The first part of the room just has a bunch of worm enemies in it, that drop from the ceiling. The next part will have worms, copter enemies and cannons in it; just take out the cannons and copter enemies. Proceed to the right and you will find this stage's gimmick is explosives. Shoot an explosive and all the blocks go. After dealing with bats and the enemies previously mentioned you will see exploding blocks over a pit. It is best to avoid setting the blocks off in the pits. If you set them off up and down enemies will come up from the pits. The next area just has a puzzle to solve for a bolt. To get the bolt you have to shoot the green blocks to bring down a metal block that you can use as a platform to get the bolt.  The next bomb you meet is a platform that will walk around until the timer on it reaches zero. These types of bombs can be used for platforms but get off of them before their timer reaches zero or you will be caught in the explosion. The next area has platforms and a Sniper Joe to deal with. Take out the Joe and proceed to the right. Now, they throw other things at you. The Bomb Tellies are back to drop bombs on you. In addition, to the Tellies up and down enemies come up between platforms, which happens to be bombs. So carefully make your jumps carefully and proceed. Jump up to the top platform if you want the bolt otherwise just jump downward.  Now for the stages mini boss. This boss just likes to surround itself with junk only to hurl it toward you. The boss can only be damaged when it opens its shell. To take it out quick just fire with charged buster shots. The Super Arrow shooter part makes this fight end quickly. The next room has the same enemies as before accept now they throw swinging pendulums in the background.  When the pendulums are far back that is when you need to jump. Now for a  hectic part that takes up the next few rooms. The bombs now have fuses and the Mets now have fire (Fire Mets). These Mets will light the fuses to cause a chain reaction. Once the bombs are ignited quickly run to get to the next area and so on. Just deal with one more room with the swinging pendulums and its onto Grenade Man. Grenade Man (difficulty 6/10) Grenade man likes to spam you with grenades and bombs. He can also be a bit jumpy. He will also destroy the floor to try to change the layout in his favor. He is weak to the Thunder Claw as it throws his bombs back at him. Use the Thunder Claw to take him out. Difficulty Analysis this stage had a lot going on in it. What makes this stage difficult is the enemy placement and bombs as platforms. Grenade man himself can also be a problem due to him firing so many grenades at once.

Cut Scene-Mega Man collects all the energy from the first 4 defeated robot masters and heads to Dr.Light's Lab. Dr. Light tells Mega Man that the repairs on Duo. Light also explains he has never seen the strange energy on earth before and that he wonders were Wily ran off to. Duo then wakes up, remembers his fight with the evil robot, which produced the energy, and then takes off. Light tells Mega Man to follow him.

Duo Stage (difficulty 2/10)
Their really isn't much to say here. The only enemies are Mets and Cannons. If you take the top ladder you can get bolts. Head down and just use Ice Wave to take out the cannons. Duo (difficulty 4/10) Duo, just likes to spear you or turn into a ball and bounce around the room. I have found it best just to hit him with charged shots. Difficulty Analysis This stage is pretty easy the only real problem are the numerous Mets and Cannons. Duo is more of a problem due to his attacks.

Cut Scenes-Duo tells Mega Man who he is and how he is after evil energy. Proto Man teleports in to check on his brother (Mega Man) and tells him he has found Wily's hideout. Mega Man goes to Dr. Wily's castle only to be greeted by a huge robot. The huge robot shocks Mega Man until Duo comes in to save Mega Man. Duo tells Mega Man that he is looking for evil energy. Therefore Duo and Mega Man realize they have the same goal and on the same side. Duo defeats the giant robot. Duo and Mega Man figure out to invade Wily's castle they need to defeat the guardians to lower the force shield around it.

Aqua Man stage (difficulty 7/10)
Now for a difficult stage. The first room requires you to jump in the water. Remember you can swim in this game. Take out the squid enemies and the clams and proceed. Next swim up to the top and take out the sea enemies. After you swim up you will notice there is a current along with death spikes on the ceiling and on the floor. What you want to do is try you best to avoid hitting the death spikes. If your survived that you have to swim up to a ladder, take out the Sniper Joe and proceed. Now for the stage's mini boss. This boss is a wood cutting machine. To fight this boss you will fall down a waterfall and also have logs coming down too. This boss is a pain to fight. The mini boss will hide behind the waterfall and then appear. He will also try to pinch you and then vanish again. What I have found to work best on him is the Flash Bomb. The Flash Bombs do a lot of damage to him. The next rooms just have sea enemies that you deal with before, so deal with them the same way. After a few rooms of the sea enemies you will have to fall down a long shaft. The shaft has death spikes and bomb platforms. What you want to do is land on the bomb platforms and avoid the spikes. Toward the end the walking bombs can be used to cross the spikes. Then you should be taken to Aqua Man's gate. Aqua Man (difficulty 5/10) Aqua man can be annoying. He likes to summon large amounts of water to hit you with it. His water cannon can be hard to dodge. However, he leaves himself open for attacks. This is were you need to blast him with charged shots. He is weak to the Astro Crush too. Difficulty Analysis this stage was hard. You have the water physics, the currents, the sea enemies and the mini boss to deal with. Then there is Aqua Man himself.

Sword Man Stage (difficulty 8/10)
Another difficult stage here as this one deals with lava. To enter the ruins you need to hit the switch which requires the statue head to open. Bubble Bats will come out of the statues mouth so quickly take them out. You will come among a puzzle. The gates are blocked and each statue head requires a special weapon for you to get the crystal to open the blocked gate. Top left requires Tornado Hold, bottom left requires thunder Claw, top right requires Ice Wave. The top left room requires you to use Tornado Hold to push magnetic clamps to the ones on the ceiling. After completing on that step on the switch and grab the crystal. The bottom left room requires you to use Thunder Claw to hit switches to stop the spikes from collapsing on you. The top right room requires you to use Ice Wave to put out streams of death Lava. The bottom right requires you to use Flash Bomb to see a picture in the background. You have to match the pictures in the order you saw them or you will get wind up statue enemies dropped on you. After getting all 4 of the crystals the blocked gate will open. Now for this stages mini boss. It is a wall crawler but the only time you can damage it is when it opens its shell and reveals its crystal. Hit the crystal with Flash Bombs to do a lot of damage. When the mini boss loses health it will summon a hammer enemy in the background. The hammer enemy destroys the platforms leaving you only with 3 pillars to stand on. The hammer enemy will then try to hit your pillar to send you into the Lava. So dodge the Hammer enemy and keep firing Flash Bombs at the wall enemy. The next room has lava in it and a platform. Jump on the right button on the platform and it goes right and jump on the left and the platform will move to the left. There will also be geysers of Lave that will push your platform up so before to move accordingly. The next part has pillars and hammer enemies that want to dunk you into the lava. So be sure to jump off quickly. Deal with another platform room and also deal with the statue enemies then onto Sword Man. Sword Man (difficulty 7/10) Sword man can be a problem as he can split his top and bottom half. If he splits in half the top half will swirl into the wall with his sword. He can also hit you with fire hence his weapon's name Flame Sword. He can also summon a huge statue head to fall on you as well. He is weak to Water Balloon so use that to put him out quickly. Difficulty Analysis this stage is long and has lots of death traps. You have the four rooms with death traps, the mini boss, and then the fire geysers to deal with. Then there is Sword Man himself who can be a problem.

Search Man stage (difficulty 6/10)
Its a rumble in the jungle for this stage here. To start this stage you want to head down or you can use the Thunder Claw to swing across the bars. Once on the Jungle floor you will find lots of grasshoppers, Mets and of course birds. The enemy placement is really bad for this stage. There is also thorns touching them will shock you. Flame Sword will take them out but I recommend saving that for Search Man. Climb up the ladders and deal with more birds. The second half of the stage involves the same thing. However, you will have to watch out from above. Gorillas will be dropping down from the ceiling. They will throw different things at you. Some will throw boulders at you, others will throw balls at you, and then there are the ones that will throw spike balls at you. Take them out with Flash Bombs. In addition, you will also have to swing across bars and quickly shoot a gate to avoid death spikes below. Deal with more Gorillas and its onto Search Man. Search Man (difficulty 6/10) Now Search Man can be a problem. He likes to throw a disk at you that bounces around the room. In addition, he will fire a ton of missiles at you. He will drop bushes down only one of the bushes will have him behind them. The others are decoys and if you hit a decoy he will fire his homing sniper at you. To reveal which bush he hides behind use the Flame Sword and then  hit him with it. Difficulty Analysis This stage is hard but unlike the others that had instant death things in them, this one is difficulty due to enemy placement. Enemies galore will hit you in this stage. In addition they hide in the bushes which makes them hard to see. Search man is hard because he spams you with missiles.

Astro Man Stage (difficulty 5/10)
Astro's Man stage likes to play tricks on you. The first room will have vanishing platforms jump on them and dodge the up and down enemies that come up from the pits. The stage's background constantly changes to make the player think they are in an illusion. The next area of this stage is a giant maze. The big Dr. Wily skull head is were you need to go. It is best to hit the green switches and use them to not only open paths but to also use as a marker. Head up and eventually you will get to your destination. The next part is very hard its a tower but its sinking into the quick sand. What you want to do is avoid the enemies do not waste time in trying to fight them, and quickly get on the platforms. You can use Mega Ball or Tornado Hold to get an edge if you need it. The final room is just a big huge maze again. Deal with it like you did before. Now onto Astro Man. Astro Man(difficulty 5/10) Astro man can be a problem for a few reasons. First of all he likes to dive down at you. Third, his weapon is hard to hit him with. Third, he can cause meteorites to rain down on you. Here is what I have noticed the last place he disappears from is were you need to go. Because when he uses Astro Crush his last spot is his safe spot. Also when he dives used a charge shot. His weakness is Homing Sniper so if you can hit him that. It is possible to get him trapped in a patter if you are real good. Difficulty Analysis This stage is hard due to the special effects. Also the mazes can be tricky. It is so easy to get lost in the mazes and just keeping going around in circles. Then there is the sinking tower. It is so easy to miss a platform there and end up falling into the quick sand. Astro Man himself can be a problem due to the meteorites, his dives, and his weapon is hard to hit him with it.

This concludes my guide. After defeating the robot masters you have made it to the Wily's Fortress. I hope my guide has helped you. Happy gaming and Blessings in Christ.
Having a hard time getting to Dr. Wily in Mega Man 8. Well I hope my guide will help you reach Dr. Wily. In this guide I will be doing a walk through and doing a difficulty analysis.

Tengu Man is real weak to the Ice Wave so fire when he lands on the ground. Another way to win this battle is just dodge and fire charged shots, but be sure to dodge his attacks.

Happy gaming and Blessings in Christ.

tornadocam : The fact that you can't buy every weapon has to be a downer in a series such as Megaman. Anyway there's not much else I can say that I have not said already, so, well done, yet again.
