What kinds of things do you collect? Tell us about your collection(s)! When did you get started and why? Any treasured items in your collection(s)? I have been a compulsive collector since I was a kid (Preteen) collecting stickers and stamps when I was pretty little. Unfortunately, I have a bit of OCD, so I'm pretty bad about collecting things. Currently, I collect several different things: The Star Wars Collectible Card Game by Decipher. (Currently missing 9 cards to make a complete set of everything, all missing cards are from either the Coruscant or Theed's Palace sets) I've been collecting them since the early days of the card game. The Star Wars Roleplaying game by West End Games. I have a complete set of EVERYTHING they ever released for that game, including multiple copies of anything that I actually use when gaming. The Star Wars Miniatures game by Wizards of the Coast. I collected these since about the release of the Universe set. I currently have a complete set of everything up to the final set. I am missing four miniatures from the final set (But am also looking for multiples of many of the miniatures already in my collection.) I own a complete set of the red carded Star Wars action figures that were released in the 90's Battletech. While the books aren't that important to me (I have all of the "Core" lot of books, along with a hand full of others, but that's it.) I am working hard on a complete set of the miniatures. I'd estimate I have roughly 50% of all the level one mechs, along with only a hand full of the level 2 and level 3 units. Classic World of Darkness RPG. I've been collecting the books from this roleplaying game since the late First Edition. I am currently missing 3 roleplaying books in order to have a complete set of comics, magazines, game books, and fiction books. Comics are a soft spot of mine. I have complete sets and stay current on the following series: Aliens (Anything they release related to the Alien franchise.), Predator (Same as Alien), The Walking Dead (Been a devout follower since issue 16 came out), anything Star Wars, anything Conan, The Goon, along with a wide range of other old comics. Military Science Fiction: I have every piece of Military Science Fiction I have ever had the privilege of stumbling across. Star Wars books. Been collecting them since Timmothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire and have maintained a complete set as new books are released. Conan CCG. I got lucky and stumbled across this precious little game before it became impossibly hard to come by. I am missing 3 cards total to complete the set. Video games is a whole other can of worms. I own an Atari (Roughly 80 games), NES (Roughly 150 games), SNES (Roughly 75 games), Gamecube (About 25 games), Wii (About 25 games), Gameboy/Gameboy Color/Gameboy Advance (I wouldn't even wager a guess as to how many games I have there), and Xbox 360 (Somewhere in the neighborhood or 450 games). That said, about 50% of ALL my video games are for the computer, and most of those are from the 90's or older. And that's not to mention all the Roleplaying games, movies, general collectibles, and other books I collect. On top of that, I compulsively buy any cheap LEGO that I stumble across, any 3.75" action figures I find (Mostly G.I. Joe), and dice, . . . . Lots and lots of dice. For me, a lot of the joy I get from collecting is the search for items that I am missing. I have a tenancy to collect 90-95% of something that I take an interest, then make a list of what I am missing so I can keep an eye out for it. I absolutely love spending hours on end in a used book store, comics & collectibles shot, or even thrift stores in search of the odd item that I am missing from my collection Sometimes I think my collecting is a problem, but at least my wife points out that I take care of my collections, buy most of my things second hand to save money, and I don't drink, smoke, or have any other obvious vices . . . So we can afford it most the time! I have been a compulsive collector since I was a kid (Preteen) collecting stickers and stamps when I was pretty little. I collect baseball cards because it is my favorite sport and some of the cards I like to get are really worth a lot. I have a few rare cards, a couple of autographed cards and I have been collecting for a bout 10 years now. |

I collect video games, anime, figures, and plushies. I have a decent video game collection (my pride and joy being my Neo-Geo MVS cabinet) and a few rare figures I have collected over the years. I collect quite a few different things, mostly action figures and comics. I've been collecting marvel comic's for years and have just never stopped reading them. I was always kind of embarrassed to buy figures when I was a teenager, but about 14 years ago I bought the Rogue figure from the first X-Men movie. I was so excited for the movie and I needed that figure. I was hooked after that. The figures I collect are mainly from WWE, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Mass Effect, Star Wars, Monster High and Marvel, with a few other things. Right now I have about 100 WWE figures and all together I've got around 250 figures. My WWE collection is pretty big, consisting of the figures, statues, autographs, dvd's, game's, magazines, etc. My biggest collection is my Marvel comic collection. As of now I have around 800 comics, give or take a few. Mostly, it's X-Men and Avengers comics, but there are a few other titles that I collect. And I guess you could say I have a Taylor Swift collection. Of course I have all of her albums, but I also buy every deluxe edition, dvd, magazine cover she's on. I have a Taylor Swift statue, a few dolls, guitar pick's and a few other little things. I love collecting things from all of my fandoms. It's just awesome to me to have a physical representation of your love for something displayed in you room. I have collected some My Little Pony toys from McDonald's, as I think that some collector bronies on eBay may buy them in the package for about $10-$15 a piece, and I have 2 of the 8, but I plan on getting more soon. |

All I collect is video games. I have collected for around 10 years now, I started collecting when I was around 11. I really didn't like the games and consoles of the time, I didn't like (and still don't) the direction that video games were moving. The first system I picked up was the Sega Saturn, I never heard of it before that day and it really caught my eye. Sadly I sold the Saturn and a lot of the games and consoles I had when I was in my second year of high school. I started collecting again shortly after that and haven't slowed down. I do have a few gems in my collection but nothing to really right home about. The most odd and or rare thing I have is the Sega Smash Controller. |

I just realized that I also have a huge pile of movie ticket stubs. I guess that's kind of like a collection, and I have about 2 dozen of them lying around. |

I am pretty sure there is already a thread for this, nonetheless, I collect video games, coins, shells, rocks, I still have a lot of pokemon cards and some other miscellaneous stuff. I am not extreme when it comes to collecting, but I try to get what I can in order to add on to my collection. I hope to start collecting more games for my nintendo 3ds, I would like to get pokemon Y, mario kart 8, luigi's mansion and kid icarus if I can. It would be cool if I could have like a mini library of games for it. Ticket stubs? Interesting. Some day it may be neat to go back through your pile and see how your taste in movies changed over the years, and to see just how many movies you actually went to. "Experiences?" Do you do anything to commemorate your experiences (Keep a journal/diary, or find keepsakes to remind you of the experiences?), or do you simply keep your memories near and dear to yourself? I use to collect a lot of random plushies of my favorite characters from certain anime. I collected so much that they couldn't fit in my closet anymore so I had to sell them. I kept the ones I wanted the most. I also collect Pokémon cards ( yes I play the card game )and I keep the rare or popular ones in a protective binder. |

I collect Big Nate comic books and Calvin and Hobbes comic books. I got started a few years ago because I loved reading them. There are no treasured items in my collections because I don't care a lot about them. I still love reading those comics, but I haven't been able to get any more of them. =/ |

My primary collection is video games. They have the highest replay/rewatch/reread (whatever)-value out of any other collection, so they take priority when it comes to my extra cash. I am also beginning to collect anime, manga, and Weiss Schwarz cards, but that is difficult, and expensive on top of my video game collection, so I usually have to put them on the back-burner. |
