I am getting my 5 wisdom teeth removed the day after tomorrow I.E Saturday morning. They are all impacted and I am going to be put under general anesthesia, the thing is that I have never been under anesthesia before, and am starting to get a little nervous. I know that I will be fine, but i get nervous easy, like i might experience anesthesia awareness So have any of you have your wisdom teeth removed, and how did it go, what did the anesthesia feel like, and what you feel like after. Thank you.

I had mine pulled when I was a little older than you - the doc doped me up pretty good but I was not unconscious. My teeth were also impacted.

So, he took a special pair of pliers and one by one gripped each tooth. Then he used all of his strength to break each one away from it's socket. I remember hearing popping and crunching sounds reverberate through my skull. For each tooth, it seemed necessary for him to put his knee on my chest to gain enough leverage to get them out of my mouth. Android89, I felt no pain only pressure.

When he was done my cheeks were packed with gauze and I was sent home. I spent the rest of that day in and out of a drug induced sleep. Every time I woke, it would be because my wife was there to change the blood soaked gauze. The next day or two, my cheeks or mouth were so swollen that I looked like a chipmunk.

Sometime in the next few days, I had to go back to see my dentist because I had a tiny piece of bone protruding from the area around one of the empty sockets and it was scraping the inside of my cheek. He removed it with a pair of forceps.

About your nerves, my dentist prescribed me ONE Valium to take the morning of the removal for nervousness. I'm surprised that this is not standard practice...

I got a crazy version of getting a wisdom tooth pulled... I have currently 3 wisdom teeth - but one of (the 4) got pulled when I was younger.

Long story short, I had my jaw wired shut after a fight like 10 years ago, and then a busted wisdom tooth had to be pulled out before it even grew out. (The surgeon had to cut open my gum to remove that wisdom tooth since the impact of the fight knocked it crooked.)

I'm lucky, I don't need to have my wisdom teeth pulled. My mouth is big enough to keep them. I have had other teeth pulled and I figure it was about the same because they had to use a scalpel to cut it out cause they couldn't just pull it out.

Android89 : Man, I feel your pain.

I've got about a week before I get mine pulled. I'm kind of worried too, but I guess the whole being unconscious thing is helping me get past it.

You'll be fine!

No. I am almost 34 and they are all still back there. I did not even knew you can have more than four of them!
