Man this sucks. I actually enjoyed the Bioshock franchise, it was a much needed breath of fresh air for the FPS genre. Sadly, unless they decide to sell the rites, we probably wont see another one.

EDIT:  figured out how to post links..

Sometimes it's better for a game company to keep it's rights because potentially another gaming company can take the rights and make a horrible monstrosity out of what was once a great game. Let's just enjoy what they have made and continue to enjoy what they have made. Bioshock was a good game.

Is this why Infinite was this month's free PlayStation Plus game? It's the only one I've gotten far in.

Awh, that sucks! I never really understand how businesses this big become bankrupt. Take Hostess for example (which I still don't believe actually went out of business. I'm pretty sure it was just a trick to have sales explode when they come back). They're a massively popular company known for Ding-Dongs, Twinkies, and Wonder Bread. You would think the owner would be a billionaire.

Although I've never played Bioshock (since I'm not allowed to... stinkin' ESRB), I've seen my father play it and it seems really fun. Hopefully one day I'll be able to sneak a play of the first one... Hopefully.

As sad as this is, I think it would be more sad if Ken Levine stopped making games. And he's not stopping. So we still can look forward to great experiences in the future. RIP though, Irrational Games. You had a truly great run.

As brilliant as Levine is, i'm still not quite sure I agree with the boardrooms decision to shut down the entire studio, if he wanted to move along so badly and create indie titles, why didn't he just branch off and do his own thing and let someone step up to take his place.

Instead he forced his entire working staff to find new studios, which grateful as they may be that other studios instantly started trying to place everyone that had lost their jobs, not everyone will be able to find a new place to dwell in.

I think that's the most frustrating part for me was the lack of empathy for his ex-coworkers.
