Yesterday, SEGA released the debut trailer for the video game and related cartoon show Sonic Boom. If you haven't seen the trailers already, I'd encourage you go check them out on YouTube. What I've said below isn't a spoiler, it just may not make much sense until you've seen things for yourself -- but it's strictly up to you.

Now on to my personal thoughts.

When I first saw the teaser image, the silhouettes seemed pretty normal (other than Knuckles.) Aside from Sonic appearing to have unkempt quills, I wondered if maybe he'd wear a vest. It kind of looked that way. But as it turned out, it was more than that: blue arms, bandages up and down his arms and legs and shoes (also redesigned), and a brown scarf. For the longest time, all that he has worn were plain, white gloves and his red sneakers. That's been what -- nearly 23 years now? Any shed of clothing seems just a tad bit out of character. Maybe even subtle? I'll keep in mind that this is only a design separate from the cannon world. Whew... A permanent change after two decades might be too much to chew on.

To continue, Tails looks cute with his flight goggles, satchel of tools, and workman gloves. He's the least changed, next to Amy, who no longer wears her red dress and red boots. In fact, she looks tougher now; we will see how her personality reflects when the game releases. I'm hopeful she's more mature now.

...Knuckles' design...I have no words. You probably know what I mean.

As far as gameplay goes, I haven't seen enough to give a solid opinion. I will say it does look interesting, and from what I've discovered from interviews and articles, the co-op gameplay is a nice change of pace for the franchise. Correct me if my information is wrong, though.

So as surprising as this is (and very different for a Sonic game,) I don't believe what's transpired is necessarily a bad thing. I don't have much to elaborate on that other than I don't think a little bit of a change is the end of the world. Sometimes change is good. Yeah, it will take some time to get used to, but I'm eager to see where this goes.

On a side note, I'm excited for Roger C. Smith, Kate Higgins, Travis Willingham, Mike Pollock, and Cindy Robinson to reprise their roles as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Eggman, and Amy. Furthermore, I am even more excited to see this come to the TV screen; it's been a while since Sonic X and it's nice for Sonic to have another show, especially one constructed of CGI. I really like what I've seen so far, but that may change once the show airs.

But anyway, enough of me blabbing away, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

boy how sonic has fallen yet another horrible entry into the once great franchise and this awful one ha sit all, bad voice acting, unspectacular animation, bad gameplay, awful trailer music (why  choose that song ?). If they were ever serious about bringing sonic backf rom the ashes they would replicate what they did with the sega genesis versions.   

It seems like a good idea but the character models are just a MAJOR Turnoff 

Sonic is not looking good at all. All the characters had some changes to their whole bodies and it really was not necessary to change it because we all liked the way they were. Sega now has gone down hill but all we can do is hope that they will change these errors in the game and the new television show since we all want something good for Sega. 

I've said it once and I'll say it again. I don't mind the character redesigns (except for Knuckles). They actually look kind of nice, as long as you aren't completely closed off to change. Again, Knuckles is the exception, because his body and head just don't match up...
I'm just super excited that we get some free reign exploration in a Sonic Game for once. We haven't really quite had that since the overworld of Sonic Adventure.
The possibilities of different gameplay between the characters and the whole co-op play is enough to keep me excited as well :3
(I also find it... interesting how people are judging this game purely on the character designs.)

UFC : I have an idea I think you should try. Wait until the game comes out, and then review it. Don't just think it's bad RIGHT when they announce the freaking game. Many developers of games change many things in development periods. Also, this is being made by the western hemisphere. (A.K.A North America). Some people even believe this game won't be for sale in Japan. I personally can't wait for this game to come out. The only problem is Knuckles' character design. Everything else looks fantastic, as well as the show. But, like I said, please wait for the game to come out before you rant about it. Don't judge a book by its cover, or, in this case, don't judge a game by its trailer. A good place to start when the game comes out is to watch or read a professional reviewer review this game, then decide if you should buy it or not.

LunarDarkness2 : Yuck why would I do that my input is better than anyone elses especially for my own opinions anyways. I've come to a point a long time ago when I can tell if a movie or game or show is good even before even seeing or playing it and it's always right 10/10 times. It's a failproof system based on experience and intuition.

UFC : Alright, don't listen to me. But, I'm telling ya, you're going to miss out on all the fun.

I don't mind the new character models, as it takes place in a different canon than the other games. It seems like it will be at least a different entry in the series. Also, Amy seems to have become more acrobatic, as she was the only one that landed on her feet when they fell into the hole.
