If you don't have a younger brother, you are extremely lucky, because having a younger brother SUCKS. Let me explain. Parents always favor the younger kid. ALWAYS. And the younger brother knows this too. I can't tell you how many times my brother got mad at me and just randomly started crying to get me in trouble. Even now, at 12 years old, he cries at to get me in trouble. It is ridiculous. They also get away with EVERYTHING, because the parents always believe them, and not the older brother. They also never get in trouble. My mom always punishes me very harshly. She took my laptop, phone, Xbox, and other electronics away for 3 months just because I missed the bus. My brother, however, can bite me (yes he does that) and give me scars from the bites, but his punishment is something lame, like going to his room for a few hours. It's not just the parents, either. At my grandparent's house, my brother jumped on my back. He may be younger than me, but he is heavier than me by a lot. His weight made me fall backwards and he slammed his head on a glass table and cracked his head open. My grandpa was screaming at me. Luckily, my grandma had seen it and managed to calm him down and convince him it wasn't my fault. But he just assumed that I threw him into the table or something. To all the younger brothers out there: I envy you. And stop framing your older siblings! Parents always favor the younger kid. ALWAYS. And the younger brother knows this too. Not just younger brothers, younger siblings in general!
I have a younger sister, and I absolutely hate her. And you're definitely right about parents favoring the younger siblings. Apparently to them, they're still 'babies'. Hmph. Even if they do something stupid, it's still our (the older siblings') fault. Because we're supposedly responsible for all their actions, despite having our own crud to worry about. Oh man. That stinks. I happen to have three younger brothers. And I am a younger brother myself. Thankfully they mostly fight with each other. But yes, younger and older siblings seem to be wired to hate each other for some reason. I can relate to those issues, believe me. But at the end of the day, I kind of appreciate them. Even though the bad outweighs the good on quite a few occasions. lol |

That's not how it works, well, all the time. I am the youngest in my family, and I get the complete oppisite. everything gets blamed on ME. I'm not trying to cause trouble in my family, but I used to get beaten for doing something that isn't even worth a beating. Now I don't do anything anymore, really, because I don't want to have to be beaten again.
You should love your family members anyways! It doesn't matter what they do when they are little, when they grow up they are going to realize they were a jerk and they'll most likely stop doing it. Kids will be kids. ._. You should love your family members anyways! Siblings will be Siblings. That is not good you get into trouble. My siblings are not biological. Their mother is my Godmother but because of that we all have done several things together since we were children. So they consider me their big brother. However, at Church when we were younger they would often aggravate me so just siblings being siblings blessings blessings |

As someone who has two younger siblings, and grew up being the black sheep of the family...
I think you are exaggerating. I felt the same way when I was your age, but looking back, I totally get why things were the way they were. As the oldest, your job is to be the role model. You are further along in your development than your younger sibling, and thus, are held to a higher standard than your younger siblings. It sucks, but it's true, and fair. Younger siblings can be hell, but once you reach my age, they start to become some of your best friends. My brother and I, I have come to realize, aren't so different. We share a lot of interests, and while we are totally different people, and still feud like children some times, we also respect each other now (which is something that was lacking when we were kids.) For the record, my younger brother is 4 years younger than me, and my sister is 2 years younger than him. So my brother is further away in age than yours is, but the point remains. Now, you aren't happy with him, but in a decade, you'll look back on these moments and smile, believe it or not. Regardless of how terrible they are now. I know, strange, and if someone told me that at your age, I'd smack them upside the head, and check them into a mental institution. But your siblings will usually end up becoming the people who understand you most. (Aside from your parents, who actually DO understand how you feel, since they were kids at one point too.) I don't know. My younger brother is fourteen years younger than me and I guess I gave him harder time than I ever did to him. When he was born I was very happy that my parents had less time to pay notice to the fact that I was getting into trouble and stuff... you know, they were not so much up my butt when they had a baby to take care of. And now that he is old enough we can chat about video games and what not and have a few beers. Plus he is the good boy I never was so much so I can sort of chill out on that department. I can relate to all of your problems, except getting punished very harshly. I have a 5-year-old brother that is always getting himself and sometimes my sister and I in trouble and most of the time he is exaggerating. D: Of course my parents believe almost everything he says. I'm a lot more mature, responsible, and honest than he is but my parents treat him more nicely. They let him get away with a lot of the terrible things he does, such as hurting me, physically or verbally, which is very difficult for me to deal with, escaping his room, and sneaking things. Their excuse is that he is a slow learner. I have seen him learn some things, and he is not! They aren't making a good enough effort to make him not do the terrible things I just mentioned. I know that he remembers them. I also have a couple problems that you didn't mention. He gets a lot more attention than me. Sometimes I need my parents to do something important for me but they will tell me to wait because they want to do things with my brother. A couple of bullies at my school have done terrible things less frequently than my brother does! I agree with Leggy that you are exaggerating, but I think you are only exaggerating a little bit. The other problem I have is that my brother stresses my parents out a lot but they take their anger out on my sister and I. D:< |

I'm a younger brother, but I can say that isn't how things went around the house for us. I actually got along great with my siblings, and we were extremely close. Stinks that your experiences have been so bad. Hopefully one day that changes and you two can become friends. |

I don't have a younger sibling but I do have a sister who is two years older than me. Usually it's the older sibling picking on the younger one, and that was true for me as well. People would always say "Just wait until you're older, you'll get her back". Now that I am older, I look back and wonder what it would have been like if I had a younger sibling. To be honest, I would have liked having more siblings, older or younger...Just as long as I didn't have multiple older sisters and no brothers. lol |

When I grew up I was the youngest and my brother and sister and I got along perfectly. Since our folks were not around we helped each other out and none of us liked to rough house were were intellectual kids. We rather play with weather maps, play outside, watch star trek. When my niece moved in though I see your brother in her. She rough houses way too much. She will jump on your back and pull you down, drag you around the house, terrorize the animals. Oh and if she hurts me I get in trouble. Though last night my dad saw what she does to me. She knows where I hurt and she bangs on it even when I tell her to stop. So he actually sent her to the room for the night. First time in forever that she got in trouble for doing it. So yeah I see where you are coming from. I'm the youngest in my family. It sucks. The only person that suffers from me being a younger brother is my sister, because she's a bi-- a fa--... What am I allowed to say here? Let's call her the jerk of all jerks. If I weren't the youngest, I would probably be living the life of all lives. Why? Because I would forcibly raise my younger brother into the world of gaming. Then we could play video games. All day long. Together. Then I could hack games with him. Because he wouldn't lecture me. Because he wouldn't be older. Yeah, you guys probably think I'm fantasizing. But gaming runs through my family. My eldest brother and I are huge gamers, and my other brother used to be a pretty big gamer as well. Heck, even my sister used to play video games a lot with me (specifically Goldeneye 007). Even more heck, my father plays XBOX 360. No, not dumb football games, but he plays Portal 2 and that one Batman Arkham game. If I weren't the youngest, I would probably be living the life of all lives. Why? I feel your pain! I have a younger brother as well. The youngest child in the family is usually very bratty and the most spoiled by their parents. It's not fair how older siblings are always taking the blame when it's obviously the youngest sibling's fault. I am guessing most younger siblings are hard to handle is due to the fact that parents pay most of their attention to them and it gives them the sense that the world revolves around them. However, we're still growing up and maturing as life goes on. When you are around the teenage years and lower, you tend to live in the moment of being free and need time to mature. After all, we still need to learn a lot, slowly mature and grow up, and look at life from a different point of view than before.
