It was the practice round.

We had gone over the rules and picked our numbers. I was last to spell.

The second speller stood up.

"Jam."

"Jam. G-A-M. Jam."

"Sorry, you're incorrect."

He was probably nervous....?

Then the actual Bee started.

I stood up, for it was my turn.

"Quaver."

No.

What? Quaver? Do you mean "quiver"? Ugh...

I asked for the definition and sentence. Still no clue if its quaver or quiver.

"Are there any alternate pronunciations?"

"No."

Okay, I'm going to give quaver a shot. Hopefully it's not quiver....

"Quaver...."

"Q-U-A-V-E-R. Quaver.."

I spelled it right. I sat back down.

A few minutes later, we were down to two spellers. I was one of them.

The kid went up.

"Genetic."

"Genetic. G-E-N-E-A-T-E-C. Genetic."

He messed up. If I spell 2 words right, I win!

I then stood up to spell that word right.

"Genetic. G-E-N-E-T-I-C-. Genetic."

Okay, now it was time for one last word, and I would actually win and get past county this year!

"Forbidden."

I took a deep breath.

"Forbidden. F-O-R-B-I-D-D-E-N. Forbidden."

I had won. I won the County Bee.

I hope you liked my story, I left a few parts out but I didn't exactly remember everything.

Now I get to go to District Spelling Bee at South Georgia State College or something on March 1st.

Hopefully my heart doesn't explode before I finish.

Really though, I could feel my heart pumping in my chest during that Bee and it hurt.

And I get to have that feeling again on the beginning of the next month. YAY!

Then again, yeah, even if I was nervous I would probably spell jam right.
