The default emulator for SNES (I think Zsnes) works fine until I try to change controls. When I push set key it automatically becomes F5-key. The same thing actually happened with GBA-emulator, but there I could still switch the buttons by rapidly clicking the set key-box and the button on controller. That doesn't work here through.

I solved the problem by using Mednafen, where I could change the controls just fine. It wasn't a perfect solution though since many games started lagging sometimes, but I managed until now. The emulator just suddenly started crashing constantly. I can play maybe 3-5 minutes until a loading screen pops up and sticks there until I reload the emulator.

Ideal solution to my problem would be, that I could change controls at the default emulator since it seems to work better otherwise, but I've got also some saves in Mednafen (10-20 hours in Earthbound) that I wouldn't want to throw away so I wish I could make that work too. Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. About the mednafen crashing. I've tried different games and it happens at all of them. I've also tried opening the browser again, and restarting the computer. I've always used google chrome as my browser and have had no problems with it before.

This sounds similar to a problem I was having with another emulator. Take a look at tRIUNE's response to my situation and see if you think that might help.

With regards to mednafen crashing, make sure your flash player is completely up-to-date or try another browser. I use Firefox with 0 problems but when I used Chrome I did have issues with crash.

thephantombrain :
First of all I really appreciate your response. I was afraid this thread was completely lost and buried.

My Java-player should be up-to-date since I installed the latest version just last week and the same problem exists on every browser I've tried (Chrome, Firefox and Explorer).
I actually found out that the game still keeps playing even though the screen says it's loading. Also the same loading screen problem appears whenever I take a screenshot with GBA-emulator, so I think that the problem may be that my computer is just too old and slow to keep up with the game via Internet. What's strange though is that I can play N64 games without any problems.

As for the controls, I think my problem is slightly different from yours. It seems like you can change the controls, but they don't work the way you intended afterwards, whereas I can't change them at all. I have considered modifying controls straight from the code in my files, but I'm afraid that I may accidentally destroy some fundamental parts of it since I really don't know much about programming. I guess I'll have try that though, since there's practically nothing I can do at the emulator-menu.

Anyway thanks for the help.
