For some reason I have always thought they look alike. What do you guys think? This Frieza from Dragon Ball Z and Mewtwo from the Pokemon series.

They're both blue, animals, slightly muscled, have tales, and less than five toes. Other than those characteristics I don't see a true resemblance. I've put the pictures side by side for an easier comparison.

They do have some similarities but they don't look exactly a like. I noticed that a while ago when I was watching Dragon Ball Z that he did remind me of someone. Their basic design is the same but their appearance and body structure is quite different. As you can see Mew-Two's legs are abnormally big for his body and Frieza is slim and muscular but still looks like a girl.

Come to think of it, they do look remarkably similar. Angular eyes, slightly muscled, white skin, bluish, and they have a similar personality and idea -- Destroy everyone who opposes them.

Yes, I agree now when I look at them they do have the same composure and look like they have similar intentions. I was looking at appearance characteristics too much.

I have thought about this a couple of times and I kind of agree. Even though there are many differences, there are quite a few similarities between the two.

yeah sometimes freiza reminds me of mewtwo but they didn't copied don't worry i think they have equally strength. freiza is uglier than mewtwo. mewtwo has more muscles then freiza(but freiza more when he goes on his full power) btw nice layout!

They do resemble each other in some ways, I will admit, yet I do not believe either of them were copying the other. I do not believe this topic is controversial enough to belong in the controversial sub forum, but it is not that big a deal. Anyway, I have seen a vast number of memes revolving around these two and their 'resemblance', and I must say, they are quite hilarious XD!

They do have the purple/white color schemes, sleek designs and long tails. Two-three toes a piece. But it would probably be more accurate to call them mirrors of each other in my opinion. I would like to use past comments for my case.
First, steel_attacker mentioned that Frieza/Freeza was more masculine in that his body very much forms a triangle (broad shoulders to a narrower waist and clearly defined), whereas Mewtwo is more feminine (smaller on top with wide hips). But actually thinking about it now, what Mewtwo's build really reminds me of is a kangaroo: tiny body, huge legs, long tail, even his ears. Even the way the purple covers his belly resembles a kangaroo-like pouch. I digress.
A few have also mentioned their personalities. Maybe I am reading too much into it at this point, but Mewtwo starts off mad at the world for using him and denying his self-discovery, so he tries to destroy it but sees good and decides his place is harmony. Again, Frieza is just the opposite: he isn't mad at anything. He has no reason to be until Goku comes along. He simply enjoys destruction and tyranny for the sake of destruction and tyranny. No curiosity, no emotion but glee. He is the Joker, Dr. Doom, Green Goblin.
MT longs for a purpose, a reason to be; Frieza is content in himself as long as there is death. If their images are not mirrored, their characters are.

(PS- in this case, "mirrored" reflects the fact that a mirror reflects the opposite action of the user. For instance, if you wave your right hand, the image waves its left; if you move toward or away from yourself, the image moves toward or away from itself but the reverse to you.)

The color schemes are very similar. They're also both one of the most powerful things in their respective universes. They both have long tails and a humanoid shape. 
Drawing more similarities between Mewtwo and DBZ characters, Mega Mewtwo Y has a long appendage coming off the back of its head that's strangely reminiscent of Majin Buu... coincidence? I think not.

Yeah come to think of it they are actually very much alike, especially in mewtwo's x mega evolution since he has the tail and such. They also have the sleek design and same color schemes as huyge pointed out. They are also both very destructive at nature and they will crush anything that stands in their way, making them not only physically alike, but they also share a similar personality. Not sure if this is what they intended to do, but they are very much alike, I never really thought about it in such depth like this before...

I think it's hilarious that you asked this. I recently tried to describe Frieza to a friend so he could tell me who it was (I have never seen a full episode of Dragonball), and I described him...her...it as a mix between MewTwo and a human. lol Thing is, he knew who I was talking about. I have to agree that the similarities are freaky.

Wow I remember talking about this when I was in high school with my friends.  When the pokemon movie came out we all thought mewtwo looked a lot like Freeza.  Now they are not identical but they have a lot a like in design.  Though personality wise they are totally different from each other. 

Ya they kind of do look alike. Not enough for me to confuse them but I see what you are getting at here. They look very different in many manners so I cannot say pokemon copied dbz or dbz copied pokemon.

Well...they do sort of look similar in a way but, do have different types of powers and personality's. If they do somehow get to fight each other the power would me mass and destructible...
