Okay, so if you know me already, like at all, you probably know that it is my dream to someday be a real, published author and that this has been my dream for most of my life. You don't have to read this. It's probably annoying. It usually bugs people when I'm happy, or I've achieved something. Please don't be annoyed. I'm just really overexcited. When I get really good story ideas, I just get like, more excited than a kid on Christmas morning and aaaah! I just can't hold it in! This is so great! I've started writing novels before, but honestly, I never could finish them because they just weren't clever base ideas to work with. I was going nowhere. I just really needed that stroke of genius that gave me my topic so I could get writing a novel I could love enough to complete. If any of you out there are also writers (I know some of you are), you probably get what it's like just waiting for your brain to do something creative, because it's honestly not something you can turn on and off like a light switch. Which is, of course, why I am thrilled when something potentially useful comes out of my regular daydreaming.
I think I finally found it. I've said that before, but I really think this idea I got today is the one I could write all the way through, and polish to publication quality. Of course, this will take many, many months at least, but at least I'll be able to start! I was writing a novel already, but I wasn't exactly feeling motivated by it, and it was a fairly typical fantasy story, but this feels unique and exciting and new, and fantastical, and relatable, and clever, and it's exactly what I need! I think it has the potential to be emotional, sometimes dark, sometimes funny and light-hearted, interesting, quirky, thought-provoking, and it could possibly even make some interesting changes to how people think about lots of things, including their treatment of others. If I could write that well. We'll see. I'm not exactly a published author yet, and everyone knows it's not exactly easy.
What is this story? Well, I don't want to give much away... I mean, this is for actually hopefully publishing, but I will say that a girl is going to end up on a strange adventure with some of her own favorite fictional characters (which I will also invent, obviously, for copyright and other reasons. This isn't a fanfic.) And then there are going to be LOTS of interesting plot twists I already have ideas for. (I never get good plot twists on my first day of brainstorming unless that's all I get! WOW!) And the main character is named Tori and she's actually pretty practical so this will all be very shocking to her. (Which is going to be kind of bad at first, because everything I write has those really dark spots lately, but later hopefully her confusion will be kind of fun!)
I am thrilled. So very thrilled! I just tried to write out a summary of my idea and I already have tons of details. Like, over 1,000 words and I'm not even done with this brief summary yet. (Maybe halfway through.) This is seriously just the best. I need to start thinking about this new idea, before it passes me by!
Well, anyway. Sorry you had to witness that. Back to that summary! I'll probably have to write most of my story this summer.
